  1. Great news! Now get out there and make up for missing out last year! Whack 'em and stack 'em!
  2. Fawn born the same year. A yearling is a 1 - 1 1/2 year old deer.
  3. Very Nice!! I've had a cam watching over a crabapple and pear tree for the past 3 weeks. 90% of the time, they are at the pear tree! So far, all does and fawns too.
  4. I've had 10 stands up, trimmed, and ready to go now for ~1 month now. Just need to go back out to throw sticks out of my path one of these days. Got all the final mowing done. Plots are on schedule, broadcasted the first of the seed over the weekend and just holding out for the next round of rain, before I throw some more seed down. Other than that, just need to wash camo and gather things up.
  5. Good point! A rounded/peaked top, with some support, might have been a better option.
  6. Could be planning on shooting from a seated position? If so, clearance should be OK.
  7. I'm thankful my area isn't hunted much (if at all) for turkey or small game. The possibility of tresspassers are always in the back of my mind though, so I am mindful of that. I remind the kids to be aware and not just assume...
  8. Good luck! He sure hasn't started rubbing yet.
  9. Here's a QDMA article, "Bucks Are Loyal To Home Ranges, Come Hell Or High Water". http://www.qdma.com/galleries/bucks-are-loyal-to-home-ranges-come-hell-or-high-water
  10. Not much chance of rain in the extended forecast. Staggering the planting in the plot, so I want to broadcast some more seed in the near future.
  11. OMG! Someone wished/prayed for rain a little too hard!
  12. You're not kidding!! I jump on any opportunity that I can get to go out and scout, work on stands, hang cams, etc... If plans change for something, I make a run for it, whether I feel like it or not, as I never know when I'll get another chance! I was out Monday morning working on a foodplot ~6:00am! Had plans the rest of the day, so I had to squeeze in a couple hours where I could!
  13. Everything seems to be running pretty much on schedule around here. What exactly are you doing that you haven't had any time to scout yet or don't think you'll have time to get out anymore before bow season? Most of us have "adult responsibilities", but still make time for pre-season scouting...
  14. Sounds like it's gonna be great hunt!! Take lots of pics!
  15. Time for some cams to catch the scum! Would be great to have a cam like phades and have it text you pics as the scum is in there, so you could call the cops, and get him red handed!
  16. This guy has been eating well! http://www.weather.com/sports-rec/hunting/first-time-hunters-catch-7235-pound-gator-20130902
  17. The deer that I've been getting on trailcams are in the summer/winter coat transisition too.
  18. Man that little one is sure going at it in the video!
  19. Thanks wooly! Been waiting to see my first hard horns of the year! Figured it should be about anytime now...
