  1. If I don't see any activity by 9:00, I think I'll head out. Got the buck hanging from yesterday that I can get cut up. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  2. Second morning of season and I've only heard 3 shots and none closer than ~1 mile! Beautiful weather and snow too! What is going on?? Is it too early to eat my lunch? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  3. Little tip from Cabin Fever... Check forecasted wind direction before gutting deer the day before! That's all I've been smelling for the past couple hours and I'm about ready to gag!! I might have to rub some doe in estrus urine under my nose to not smell the gut pile anymore! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. Out of likes, but agree! OUCH!! Then again, they shouldn't have taken that shot in the first place!
  5. He's a beauty! Glad you got him, especially since he had a broken leg! Was he shot in the back leg?

    My deer

Nice one! Paula is on the board!
  7. I know how you feel! I had to strap on chest waders to get across a creek to fetch mine! The water was ~6" from going over my chest waders! LOL It was worth it though!
  8. Up until this morning, I only saw him on trail cam pics and in my dreams. He made a mistake this morning though! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. 8J. The 6pt from earlier this morning popped out of the thicket and started back tracking the doe that the spike was in hot pursuit of. He must have eventually realized it and came back through. Saw a big coyote that made a smart decision of stepping into the corn, before he put me was in an awkward position. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  10. Doe just went by with her mouth wide open watching behind her. A spike was in hot pursuit. Hopefully a big buck will pick up her trail! Today is the first day that I've seen any seeking all season! Glad I packed for an all day sit! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  11. Only heard ~8 shots so far, and they all sounded about a mile away. I saw a decent 8pt and a small 6pt so far. The 6pt had its mouth open and nose to the ground the whole time. Promising sign! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  12. Pretty bummed. Not one track the whole way into my stand. Even walking along the edge of a standing cornfield! Thought for sure they would be out feeding and moving good after the heavy snow storm the night before. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  13. Just stepped outside to check things out. Not bad! Says it's 35 right now and there's just a slight breeze. The snow is melting some and I could hear the water dripping off the roof. Earlier in the week, they were calling for a windy day, so I was glad to see that changed! Good luck everyone and be safe.
  14. That explains it.... Northern Finger Lakes. Everyone said 4-8", but we got a solid 12-14".
  15. We got 12-14", way more than the National Weather Service map from yesterday forecasted...
  16. We got 12" of snow, much more than was being forecasted (or even believed). I knew with that much snow on the ground, there would probably be 2'+ piled up along the road from the snowplow, so I wouldn't be able to park in the little pull off on the landowner's property where I usually park. The road that I hunt on really isn't wide enough to safely park along the road either. Decided to take the shovel over and shovel a hole through the high/heavy stuff along the road, then see how the truck would do in the pull off with the 12" of snow. Worked out well. I kept it in 4x4 and drove over it a few times to pack it down. That's a relief!
  17. Congrats Rob!!! Great buck and well deserved!! So happy for you! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  18. And here comes the snow.... Thought for sure they would be on the move tonight, before the storm. Wrong again! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. I had that issue all the time and took me a while to figure out why. I was always signed into the site itself, but apparently not to Tapatalk. Once I signed in to Tapatalk, pics would post upright. Something to try anyways... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  20. One extremely windy day (~40mph gusts), I saw the #2 biggest buck that I had on trail cam about 200 yards away walking in my direction. At 80 yards, he veered off the path and took another route. I grunted as loud as I could to get his attention, but no luck. The wind was also blowing away from the buck, so he couldn’t smell the doe in estrus scent either. I’ve considered getting a decoy for years, but never did it. This made me determined to get a decoy for next year! But, WHY wait until next year? The bucks were just starting to look for does. Especially on windy days, like we’ve had so many of this year, if they can’t hear or smell the “does”, then giving them a visual would help. So, I ran out that day and purchased a buck decoy, that without the antlers, would pass for a doe. I was concerned about any plastic odor, so I put the decoy in my truck, and ran my Scent Crusher Ozone Go Vehicle Air Cleaner and also later sprayed it down with scent killer spray. I started using it that same evening and every buck that saw the decoy, came right into it! I had 8 different bucks, of all sizes, come to it during 5 different hunts. Some would leave for a while and later swing back by the decoy again up to 4 times! I even had a buck bed down 30 yards from the decoy. It was working like a charm! On this particular hunt, I saw a buck step out of the thicket ~80 yards away. As soon as he spotted the doe decoy, he came in without any hesitation, like he was on a string! I could see that he wasn’t as big of a buck as I was hoping for, but he was a big ass 6pt and I would be happy with him! When he got to 25 yards and directly broadside, I took my shot. I saw that it was a good hit and he bolted. I heard him crash just a few yards into the woods. He only made it 20 yards from the shot, before tipping over. First buck with the new Hoyt! This is the exit hole.
  21. Could have taken the evening off, but oh no.... I have DMP'S that's burning a hole in my pocket now! Would rather fill them with the bow if given the opportunity! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. Sorry for your loss. No one can replace the bond that you had with your Dad. Been there, done that. It does get easier, but there will always be a void. Hunting season is always the toughest. I only hunted with my Dad my whole life. The first opening day without him, I had to force myself to go out, because thats what he would have wanted. Pained me to walk by his empty stand and still does now 11 years later. All I can say is, you get through it... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah. I set out with the goal of topping my best bow buck this season, but screwed that up a few days ago with my "epic choke"! Oh well, this is my best 6pt anyways! LOL
