  1. Thanks Belo!! I just snatched up 3 of these for $11.99 and 3 of the lightweight ones for $8.99. Got free shipping too! They have some really good deals on their sale page!
  2. 8J. Hot scrapes went cold 11/4-11/6. First and only sign of seeking that I saw was on 11/17, opening day of gun season (4 bucks nose to the ground and frantic). First and only chasing that I saw was on 11/19, and it was just a small 4pt chasing a doe and 2 fawns. These were on different properties. Went back to both places the very next day and it was absolutely dead, nothing going on. Since October 1st, I've been out hunting exactly 59 times, so I should have been able to see the rut progress and unfold, but I was greatly disappointed this year in the lack of rut activity that I saw.
  3. Kills me that a couple of weeks ago, I went to a local deer farm to buy some fresh doe in estrus urine, Top Shelf stuff. I'm a sucker and had high hopes, so I ended up spending $80! Never had any deer pay attention to it or anything! Even young bucks would walk right over the dragline without giving it a second thought. On two occasions now, I've had this spike walk in under my stand and lick my freshly deposited urine that I just launched from my stand though! It comes in and licks the branches, eats the leaves and snow that it's on! WTF... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. Brrrrrrr!! Hoping the farmer comes back this morning to finish picking corn. Gonna take a hike later to some distant woodlots that I haven't ventured to yet.... partially to keep warm!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. Congrats Grampy and Jerry's daughter (AND Jerry the proud Dad)!!! Great bucks and they look like a couple of husky ones too! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Didn't see squat this morning at one spot. Plan "B" was to run to my camp to hunt this afternoon. I took a detour home this morning to see if anyone was trespassing on another spot that I've been hunting a lot. Noticed that the farmer just started cutting the ~180 acres of corn this morning, that surrounds the ~60 acres of woods that I've hunting! So now Plan C, becomes Plan B.... Gonna go jump in that stand and hope that he runs some deer out of the corn and into the woodlot! I've been wondering since bow season if that's where the does have been hiding out from the bucks!
  7. It is absolutely DEAD this morning! I got glimpses of one thos morning, but coyldnt even tell if it wad a buck or doe. I saw 6 by this time yesterday morning and chasing. Don't think I'll be sitting all day today... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. Why do you need to "Grow a pair"? What's the big deal?
  9. Pass. I passed on my big 8pt opening day at ~150 yards, because I didn't have a nice steady rest and he was trotting. I was tormented by my decision after he stepped into a thicket, thinking I would never see him again, but oh well, better that than to make a bad shot. Thankfully, I was later rewarded by a 75 yard shot!
  10. Good luck finding him John. Thankfully, it's plenty cold enough to preserve the meat. Hope those damned coyotes don't eat much!
  11. Dude, I'm sad for you after reading this! Sorry for your loss! RIP Max, no more suffering.
  12. Saw 9 by noon, so I decided to stay in the stand all day. Haven't seen a thing since noon! Didn't pack any food, so nothing is safe come dinner time! Sheesh, I must be borderline starving when even squirrels start to look appetizing! LOL Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  13. I've had a button buck pounding down acorns 60 yards away for the past exactly 2hrs! How much can that little pig eat??? I was thinking about moving my stand ~30 yards closer to those oaks at lunch, because the deer have been digging like crazy for acorns there. I hate to spook it, but end it already and save some for later!!! (BTW, using bow) Good luck John! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  14. That doe fed back to me on her own. Walked directly to me, turned broadside at 27 yards, I drew when she behind a tree, but she must have sensed something wasn't right. She took 2 bounds, then walked off! Too bad, because mentally, I already had her hanging in my garage! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. Had a 4pt chase a doe and 2 fawns by earlier. Got the bow today, so no chance at the doe. About 7:30 a big doe, followed by a spike came in to feed on acorns. She stayed just out of range. She's been pounding acorns like she hasn't eaten in days! LOL The spike must have gotten bored with her, because he wandered off by himself. I was hoping another buck might get her scent and bring her back by me. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. Saw lots of tracks on my way in and it looks like land mines went off under the oaks from the deer digging for acorns. The walk in this morning was much quieter! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  17. Taking the bow out this morning to some state property. Would like to find a doe or two.
  18. If you do an image search for bovine tuberculosis, that is not the same as the pic that enewhere posted.
  19. I somehow missed the whisperers talking last week at the end of the episode so I went to YouTube to watch it. Should be an interesting twist... We'll see.
  20. I was after this guy all bow season, but I only saw him on trailcam pics. About 9:30am on opening day, I saw a deer trotting ~300 yards to my right, head almost to the ground, and coming right at me!!! I put the scope on it and saw it was the big 8pt that I had been after all bow season! If he continued on the same path, he would have been 25 yards in front of me! I kept the crosshairs on his chest the best that I could and was ready, incase he decided to change direction! He was on a mission and kept closing the distance! At ~150 yards, he must have picked up the does scent that I saw there earlier, because he started to veer off into the thicket! BUT, between him trotting side to side and me not having a rock steady rest, (OK, and me shaking ) I just wasn't comfortable risking a shot! I knew the .300 Mag was fully capable, but I wasn't confident . Part of me was screaming SHOOT!!! But I was too afraid of missing, or worst yet wounding him, so I decided not to shoot!! He disappeared into the thicket and I had no idea if I would ever see him again! I was tormented by my decision, but in my heart, I knew it was the right thing to do. I was bumming, feeling like I may have blown my one and only opportunity at him. I tried giving some estrus bleats to get him to come in my direction, but nothing! I figured he probably picked up the doe's scent from earlier, and followed her out of the back of the thicket somewhere into the corn. About 5 min later, I looked into the thicket and could make out a deer walking. I sure hoped it was the big 8pt! It was so damn thick and I could just see enough of the rack to confirm it was him!! It looked like he was back tracking the doe from earlier! I scanned in front of him and found one hole about 75 yards in front of me that I figured would be my one and only opportunity for a shot! I put the crosshairs on that hole and waited for him to step into it!!! I kept peeking over the scope to keep an eye on him, so I knew when to expect him! As soon as I saw his shoulder in the scope, I squeezed the trigger! He took a couple jumps, but it was so thick that I had no idea if I hit him or not!? AHHHHH! To make matters worse, although it was only 75 yards away, a deep ditch/creek was between us that I needed chest waders to cross! I had to walk back to the truck to get my chest waders, walk back to the stand, put the waders on, and wade the creek (~4' deep!), before I would even know if I hit him or not!! Well, once I got over there, I saw blood splattered all over the fresh snow! I was so relieved!! He might have went 40 yards, but was piled up along the edge of the thicket! I was grateful to have killed the buck that I was after, but even more happy that I did it with my Dad's .300 Win Mag. That gun was his baby! I know he was smiling down...
  21. Saw something unexpected today in the snow. What in the hell would a spider be doing out in the snow? (BTW, I did not leave him the way I found him!) Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. That's for sure! By this time yesterday, I saw 4 bucks, 1 doe, and 2 coyotes. I've only seen a spike so far today. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
