  1. I said today, if my bow could talk, it would have said, "WTF was that??" LOL It was all me! He should have just stuck to my plan though! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  2. Pains me to say this, but I CHOKED this morning and missed one of the bucks that I've been after! I couldn't believe that I actually laid eyes on him for the first time, other than trailcam pics. That SOB had me shaking!! I looked over and saw him 80 yards away, just staring at my doe decoy! That's what brought him to me, as he was heading in the opposite direction! He slowly made his way to the decoy. I had it all planned out in my head when I would be drawing and shooting. When he got to 30 yards, he unexpectedly veered off the path. I wasn't sure if he was just going to circle and get downwind of the decoy or if he lost interest. I panicked, and without realizing it, just rushed the shot and didn't follow through! I launched the arrow and it took some hair off of the top of his back! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Oh well, so thankful I didn't wound or draw blood, not even a spec! I'm fessing up! No unseen twig that deflected my arrow, NO using the wrong pin, NO ducking the arrow, NO jumping the string, NO mis-judging distance! Just plain 'ole Buck Fever I guess, after 40 years of hunting!!! It took me 44 hunts to lay eyes on him, I FINALLY get the opportunity, and I CHOKE!!!!!! May our paths cross again some day..... you lucky SOB!!!
  3. This wind is just plain crazy! Congrats Bob! That's a beauty!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. This wind is crazy!!! Oh well, only a few days left and the bucks are "suppose" to be rutting. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. My little "hussy" had her first visitor. Now if only a much bigger buck would do that! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. I keep it on my backpack, that way I won't lose it and I always know with 100% certainty where it's at. Before, depending on the weather, it might be on my light jacket, medium weight, warm coat, spare clothes (because I needed to wash or dry other coats), rain gear, etc... Too easily misplaced, then I'm scrambling at the last minute to find it! I feel I'm doing the most responsible thing to ensure I always have it with me and to keep track of it. It's a stupid law.
  7. The o-ring broke on my grunt call yesterday, so I'm using my daughter's. Don't be hating on the hot pink grunt call! LOL Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. Considered getting a decoy for the past few years. After my sit this morning, I really think that would have brought that big buck in for a shot yesterday. He was only 80 yards away, but it was so windy that he couldn't hear my grunts. The wind was wrong, so he wasn't downwind of my estrus scent either. Think if I had a visual aid out there, it would have made all the difference. Decided to run out and get a decoy. Yeah, it's suppose to be a little buck, but I just didn't put the antlers on! 'Tis the season for love, not fighting!! LOL We'll see how it goes.... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. Had a lone doe step out of the thicket at 8:00, panting and head swinging from side to side. I assume she gave a buck the slip. At 9:15, I saw a doe and fawn running out of the corn, but like the lone doe earlier, nothing followed. Thought for sure the bucks would be cruising today. None yet! 10. Boy did I just pull a stupid one! Just getting daylight and felt that "something" was missing. Realized I forgot to pull my bow up!! DUH! That could have ruined my day!! LOL Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  11. Weather feels perfect, right now anyways.... Planning to sit from daylight til dark, but I'm going to see what kind of activity there is this morning. I also have a yard full of leaves that need some attention one of these days. Good luck fellas! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  12. Finally saw one of the big boys on his feet during daylight hours today. Watched him coming in from about 250 yards, but when he got to about 80 yards, he veered off the path that would have taken him 25 yards from me! The wind was so strong and gusty that he couldn't hear my grunts. Damn it!! About 5 min later, he appeared ~80 yards to my other side, but again, the wind was rippin' so bad that he couldn't hear my grunts! Hopefully, he'll pull that stunt again on a much less windy day! 95% sure it was this buck.
  13. Laid down a drag line ~100 yards to the left and right of my stand and put out a couple of scent wicks to try. Haven't seen any seeking or chasing yet, but a guy can dream that today is the day anyways.... Feels like a nice morning. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  14. Just finished packing a lunch and made coffee for the thermos, incase there's action going on today. Heading out soon...
  15. I have the S5, but haven't had any issues texting anyone. My only complaint is the damn battery dies so fast! The battery itself is <2yrs old. When I have my data on, I can watch the battery % drop! I can't leave my data on. I just turn it on long enough to do what I need to do, then back off it goes! When I'm hunting, I carry a couple battery packs to charge the phone up. I have any battery draining apps turned off, brightness turned down, wifi turned off (unless I need), etc...
  16. That's gotta be a relief! Now you can enjoy your hunting more, not having to worry about what's going back at your truck or what the guy might try to pull next!
  17. That's cool! You should be starting at a good time. Post up some stories! Enjoy your time and I hope you get a big one!
  18. Same here! Heavy rain this morning and saying wind gusts could exceed 50mph. I'm fortunate enough that I can cancel and schedule vacation on the fly, so I decided to come into work. I'll use that vacation day next week, when the weather (and hopefully rut action), is better. Works out better for me, because I needed one more vacation day to have the entire week off anyways! I'll work a few more hours today and then be off until the 19th! NICE!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. Cool pic! Hopefully they'll kill eachother!
  20. Was taking my wife out to lunch today at 11:45 and we saw a buck running across a wide open field towards the road. She kept saying, "No, no, no!", but we watched the buck run into the side of a tractor and trailer heading in the opposite direction! Ironically, there was a state trooper right behind the truck! The buck somehow just broke it's back legs and was thrashing around in the road. The trooper said that he had to wait until it got out of the road to put it down. I asked if I could grab it and drag it out, because it was heartbreaking watching it struggle and suffer. He said he was afraid I would get, "Horned". Didn't matter though, I grabbed it and pulled it into the ditch. He put it down then. A guy that stopped behind me wanted the deer, so at least it didn't go to waste. 21. Been raining all morning in 8J! Haven't seen a thing yet! Nov 5th, my 33rd hunt on 3 different properties, but still NO sign of seeking, chasing or anything. Sat from daylight til dark yesterday and saw 1 deer. Planned another all day sit today, but if I dont see something by 11, I'm tapping out.... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. I feel your pain! Dark to dark here too. Saw a decent 8pt that should be thanking his lucky stars he made me hold at full draw long enough to realize that I didn't want my season to end just yet and I still had hopes of scoring on one of the bigger bucks in the area! BUT, after an all day sit, I'm really glad he didn't come back to temp me again, as I was in NO mood! LOL Is the trip to the Pacific Northwest for business or pleasure?
  23. Been in the stand now for almost 10hrs today. I've only seen 1 deer! Had high hopes with the great weather, high pressure, cold temps, and it is Nov 4th for cripes sake! Damn it!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  24. Been a long day. Saw one deer at 8:45, but nothing since. Probably gonna regret this all day sit.... BAF! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
