Nothing but squirrels here.... Pathetic. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Hunted 3hrs this morning and 5hrs this afternoon/evening. Never saw a deer. Froze my ass off too! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

That sucks! Nice buck though. What time was he moving? Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Got back in the saddle at 1pm. Gonna try like hell to stay the rest of the day. Bitterly bitterly cold gusty wind. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Hunt #49... WTF was I thinking? Wind chill of 9 degrees and 23mph wind. Do have snow on the ground. I walked ~500 yards to my stand, but never saw a track in the snow. Only 1 more week left, so I've been trying to go balls to the wall with all day hunts. No sign of the rut get and it's to the point where it's just not fun anymore. Think I'll pull the plug ~10am and run to Bass Pro to get some ammo for a break. I'm sure I'll be back for an evening hunt. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

8F - Rut? What rut?

Nothing moving here... No surprise. Where the F is the rut? Even trailcam pics aren't indicating that the bucks are showing any interest in does. Maybe the does have been nagging the bucks too much this year? LOL Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Anxiously awaiting the news Grow! I hope you're busy loading and skinning that buck as I type this!

Oh sweet-mother-of-Pearl does that ever sound good!! I'll have to try! Evans Williams = I can't feel my face.....................

Welcome GR8lawn! You picked a good time to join! Now tell us what we're doing wrong! Great buck BTW! Good luck with him!

Damn it! As I was running into the liquor store, I was looking for this post, but couldn't find it! I couldn't remember what nomad suggested. Ended up picking up Evan Williams Honey to try. Cheap and it gets the job done anyways. (Thank God for spell check or you guys might think I have a buzz going already! ) Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Sore and exhausted (physically and mentally)! Heading out for hunt #45... Other than seeing a small buck harassing does on 10/27, the only other sign of the rut that I've seen are scrapes, which have been around for 2-3 weeks now. I have pics of big bucks moving during daylight hours, but no pics of bucks with does or of fleeting pics indicating chasing. The few bucks I have seen haven't been nose to the ground or anything either. Just browsing or going from point "A" to point "B". Watched a huge 11pt walk past 4 does in a cut cornfield the other night and he didn't even acknowledge them.

Will someone tell me the story of how this rut thing is suppose to work again?? WTF.... Wondering if my bucks have gone gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) or if they're taking care of their own needs.? Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Interesting comparing everyones recent trailcam pics to mine. Seems like most buck activity is from 9:30am-2:30pm. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Hunt #43... Come on hunting Gods, throw a brother a bone for effort!! The clocks ticking... The way my luck has been going, I'm probably in the wrong stand again. I'm strapped in for the day!! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Welcome! Jump right in! Sounds like you and you're Dad have great experiences hunting together! Don't take that for granted. Sure miss having my Dad around to hunt with...

Sat in the stand from noon until dark. Never saw a deer.

I haven't put cams on a rub line. I really don't have established rub lines, more random. I like putting them on scrapes, as I usually get pics of several bucks hitting the same scrape. More bang for my buck, I guess!

I love putting cams over scrapes every year!

Happy Birthday!

Cool pics Dave! Big healthy looking coyotes.

Very nice! Can you post a pic of him before he beat the snot out of his rack?

Use it during rifle season and don't use it if the wind is blowing in a bad direction. That's helped keep me in the field a whole lot longer on those cold, rainy, and snowy days! Sheesh, my blind is also up on an elevated 16' platform. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Never had an old fashioned! Hell, I've never heard of one before... Now I want one!!
