  1. Happy Birthday! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  2. Congrats KeukaHunter and daughter! Can't help but smile seeing that pic! Had flashbacks of when my daughter got her first deer! She's just getting started!!
  3. Turkeyfeathers you sure have a daughter to be proud of! Man, I'm hoping for some good news from you guys before the weekend is over!!
  4. NOW we know who's hogging all the deer! That's why no one else is seeing any! Nice buck Fletch Jr!
  5. Yes, I do support full inclusion. Partially due to many of the narrow minded, selfish and elitist comments made on this thread, I just submitted my NYCC membership application and fee. Thank you for the push that I needed...
  6. Youths are only allowed to take 1 deer during the youth season. (See bullet #3 below) Youth Firearms Big Game Hunt 14-15 Year Old Hunters Can Hunt Deer and Bear with a Firearm Over the 3-day Columbus Day Weekend The Youth Firearms Big Game Hunt will occur Columbus Day weekend (see map of deer hunting seasons) Resident and non-resident Hunting license holders aged 14 or 15 may participate in the youth big game hunt. Junior hunters may take 1 deer and 1 bear during the youth hunt. Junior hunters may use a Deer Management Permit (antlerless-only), Deer Management Assistance Program tag (antlerless-only), or a regular season tag. During the youth big game hunt, junior hunters may use the regular season tag for a deer of either-sex. The youth big game hunt will occur in both the Northern Zone and Southern Zone, except in bowhunting only areas and Suffolk County. During the youth big game hunt, mentors may not carry a firearm or bow to pursue deer and bear. Rules for 14-15 year old junior hunters and their mentors outlined below, including blaze orange requirements, also apply during the youth big game hunt. Any deer or bear taken during the youth firearms hunt count toward the annual bag limit. No extra tags will be issued for this hunting opportunity.
  7. Very sad to read this... My condolences. Cancer sucks.
  8. The weatherman was right (Can't believe I'm saying this! ), raining hard out! Between the rain this morning, suppose to be 82 this afternoon, and the lack of any daylight activity I had on my 11 cams when I checked them yesterday after a 7 day soak, I decided to snuggle up to momma this morning and hang out with her today. (Plus, I can use those brownie points to cash in later in the season!!)
  9. Crossing my fingers that your daughter scores this weekend! I know she's been putting in a lot of time and effort deer and turkey hunting, but things just haven't come together.... YET! (Wasn't she sick and unable to go out for the first few days of deer or turkey season last year?) It's frustrating on the kids AND Dad's, as we try to scout and prepare to increase their chances. After that, we hope for the best and depend on the deer and turkeys to do their part and just show up (during shooting hours)! My daughter is too old to hunt the youth season anymore, but still goes out with me during the regular season. Enjoy the time together in the blind... "She thinks we're just hunting". (Sorry, no strikeout option, so I couldn't say "fishing".) Everyone needs to send some "Good Luck Mojo" to turkeyfeather's princess/huntress!! I'll be checking in frequently for updates!
  10. Just checked 11 cams. In the past week, the only daylight pics I had were of 3-4 fawns. Not very encouraging... Typical for early October though.
  11. Couldn't resist the urge to hit the stand tonight after staring out the office window all day. Warm, but who knows... Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  12. If that's what your problem is, then why not just buy a taller ladder stand, with a flip up seat, full platform, and a removable gun rest??
  13. When I got to the stand this morning, I realized that the shooting rail might get in my way, so I decided to remove it. Thought it would make too much noise if I just tossed it to the ground, so I thought I would tie it to my hoist rope and quietly lower it to the ground. I swear it banged, clanged, and vibrated on every step going down! DUH!!!!
  14. Great buck Stevie! The meat will be fine. Just hose it out good and keep it iced.
  15. I was certain I had everything I needed for the opening day voyage back out to the stand. That is, until I got to the stand and pulled my gloves out of my pocket... I had 2 left gloves. WTF! What did you forget or do?
  16. A couple that come to mind... I didn't realize it when I first saw the pics of this doe, but she was munching on crabapples and juggling one around in her mouth while looking at the cam.
  17. Congrats Stevie! Great buck! Can't wait for the story! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  18. Heard this guy gobbling all morning from the roost. He walked by at 10 yards. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
  19. Congrats Elmo! Glad to hear everyone is well.
  20. WTF... Dude, are you for real??
  21. I bought new Lacrosse boots back in early July, hoping to be able to rid the boots of the new boot odor before season. I scrubbed the boots with scent killer laundry detergent, sprayed them with scent killer, and left them hanging outside upside down for the past 10 weeks. I kept checking them every so often, but I could still smell the new boot odor. Last weekend, I thought about putting them in the new Scent Crusher bag that I got last year for Christmas. I put them through two 15min cycles with the ozone and I dare say that I don't smell the new boot odor at all!
