  1. 3 raccoons no deer! Sure did get dark early in the oaks.
  2. Out in the acorn trees, hooked up a buddy and let him sit in a stand 100 yards away. Never sat down here before but have found this is where they eat when there's snow and bed a lot.
  3. Tag stays with the meat, unless head is at taxidermist then I had to leave it there one year.
  4. Yes I've been there twice to check it out and get some New broadheads, nice people.
  5. Saw 1 on way in 6 on way out all doe. None came Near my stand. I've seen 18 doe and 1 spike so far, pretty good numbers for me to take a few More antler less deer.
  6. New ownership I though and now called Neil's archery and crossbows. I live a few miles from the new shop.

  8. Local bow shop going out of business. They will take offers. Tax is included and its cash only.
  9. Just busted one on property I haven't sat at yet, like 20 yards from my stand!
  10. Yes a group of 5 came up the hill, shot one they ran off. Then a group of two came up 5 minutes after, shot one. Other one just stood there snorting but didn't see me. Then I had another 2 sneak behind me less than a hour later. All does.
  11. In a stand, buddy in elevated blind, hopefully that spike comes back from yesterday for him he's a new bowhunter and has the green light.
  12. My platform I was sitting in is only 12 feet up, I could see and hear the spike chewing whatever he was eating. That was the closest I've had a deer and not shot. Got the heart going still.
  13. In a tree shack on my buddies property where there's only 20 yard shots, nice to keep the rain off me!
  14. Tried to watch your shot and didn't follow through, what type of broadhead? Blades sharp? Spins true?
  15. It's never too late to start enjoying the outdoors. Welcome!
  16. On October 1st I shot a doe at 0701, and then a second at 0706. First shot was quartering away hard, second was quartering towards slightly. Quartering away ran uphill with arrow in her, second ran downhill arrow came out after 20 feet and hit a tree. Was confident both were good shots and I heard one crash. Sat until 9 am and went and got friend out of his stand to track. We started following the second deers trail that the arrow came out of and it led us down hill and I spotted her white belly so we abandoned the trail to retrieve her.(bad idea) it turn out to be the deer that ran up hill and must of ran back downhil because the arrow was still in her. Confused, we marked the trail and walked back up the hill to track again. We ended up 5 feet over from the first trail tracking and went well over 500 yards with little blood but there was bubbles. Despite a few hours of tracking the last blood we found was a bed with blood then not a drop after and we did a grid search after. Now for what I learned. Stay on the bloodtrail even if you see the deer (if you shot 2).Really think about your shot. This must have been a one lung hit that was high on entry and clipped top of the lung. This deers bed was 500 yards from the hit sight and she did not slow down once. Still sick about it but I do believe we did the best we could have.
  17. Good learning experience there! Congrats and pics or It didn't happen!
