.243 is more than enough for deer, I prefer a nice compact .308 but I would take a bear if I had the chance. I would say invest in some other things like you said and hunt with the .243.
I just bought a pack of G5 striker magnums for shits and giggles, 30 yard target. It BLEW through my target dead center. I shot a few more arrows and it was no fluke. 1.5 inch cutting diameter fixed head flying perfect to 30 yards!
Only was exposed string, I have no expose string on my cams, it's all serving over top of the string. Bow does not need to be drawn. I've never put cam lubricant on my cams, I have the bow shop do that when I change strings and clean it.
Had a doe get hit in front of my house while watching it, too
Bad the driver wanted her! Helped the sheriff put her down with a blade instead of letting a bullet fly in this area.
Just did my last cam check till October 1 morning, 2 new bucks I haven't seen the last 2 months. Nothing special but exciting none the less. Come on Thursday!
30 mins before first light oct 1 in my stand, I have a group of does that like to come through in 2-3 bunches from 730-11 am. No shooter bucks on that cam but I have no problem taking A few does with that many showing up.
I'm going to put one rage hypodermic in my quiver and give it a shot, right next to my trusty thunderheads. I'm shooting a 425 grain arrow at 275 fps. My field points, Rage, and thunderheads all hitting the same spot.
