    Poor momma bear didn’t make it. Alaska is a wild place.

    Frederick & Lexi, They Don’t look like much but these 2 Dachshunds will find you rabbits. Best rabbit dogs alive.

    This hog impaled himself at the old Woolworth estate on valley Rd in Glen Cove a few years ago.

    I feel your pain here in 3H. I’ve spent a total of 42 hours on stand this season with only 4 deer and 1 bear sited. Hopefully with the rut kicking in they’ll be off the lawns and back in the woods soon.

    True, I’ve found them on open ridge lines also. Could be a spot to ride out the storm this week.

    Found a new rub today, Great spot to set up. Too bad it’s in my front yard, 40 ft from my porch :(.

    Just had a small bear run past me like Seabuscuit. Don’t know what he was running from but that’s as fast as a bear can run.

    He’s going to regret that after the divorce.

    Nothing better than quietly walking thru the woods with a flash light to get to my stand and inadvertently walk under a pine tree loaded with roosted turkeys who bust out like herd of buffalo. Scared the you know what out of me.

    Temps in the 30’s at night rising to the upper 50’s. Hopefully this will break things open this weekend. Tired of watching leaves fall off the trees.

    I set the camera up in front of that sapling behind him because it’s always used as a scrape and rub. I like how he just sat down right in front of the camera and took a few selfies:)

    My first camera, circa 1999 was a film cam. Put it up came back 2 weeks later and it was gone. Couldn’t believe someone trespassed and found it buried deep within our 100 acre plot. Brother in law found it several weeks later chewed up by a bear who ripped it off the tree. They chew up my posted signs and my fathers spackle bucket he sits on in the woods.

    So how’s it going 3H’ers. Did two 9 hr sits with only 3 deer seen. Typical early October. Drive thru town near sunset and their all on lawns and driveways not deep in the woods yet.

    Although I've already saw a few postings of a few beasts taken here on LI, Temperatures are still in the mid 60"s here and I don't think there's a lot of movement yet. I generally wait till late October to hunt LI due to the ticks and chiggers which are deadly on the island. Put in the time, you'll see them.
