Quiet in 3H yesterday, I have a small creek that runs thru the center of my property in a pine/hemlock area. Saw 2 does for the day down in there. Unusual to see them there during the day, they’re usually on the surrounding ridge lines in the thick mountain Laurel bedding. I’m thinking due to the drought they may be hanging closer to a water source.

Put a cam on my front lawn, this bunny is not playing around. He’ll stare down any deer. We call him Rip from Yellowstone.

Happy National Bison day, designated our National mammal. Theodore Roosevelt had the lion heads removed from the White House fireplace mantle as they were representative of England and had them replaced with the Bison.2 bison mounts are on display at Sagamore Hill in oyster bay that adorned the walls of TR’s White House.

I think I found the culprit who’s been vandalizing my magnolia tree.

4:30 yesterday a “doe” comes trotting down a trail right below me and stops, talk about luck. I look thru the peep site at full draw and quickly notice 1 little spike antler. Surprisingly big body for a little spike. I let down, he caught the movement above him, went Oh Crap and bolted away.

Full on rut, I’d say no. Wouldn’t be surprised if a young buck follows a scent drag. -

October 24th of last year I saw a lone doe walking by at 60 yards, although they shouldn’t respond to a grunt, I used the “call to prayer” tube and gave a few soft grunts. Out of the mountain Laurel nearby I hear crashing and running. An 8 ptr comes trotting in to investigate, had no idea he was there. He came home with me. -
When the magnolia flowers fall in May it’s like crack for the deer, their under it during the day vacuuming them up. I have to mow the lawn around them, they won’t move.

My camera is a source of interest for the local bears, there sniffing it, licking it, doing close up selfies, but this is either an open mouth or he’s humping my trail cam.

I get to my stand at 6:06 and there was a bear there at 6:04. Must of heard me coming.

I’ve even had them just lie down and take a nap. My camera is set up on a well used deer trail.

Low light pictures of 2 cubs who wrestled, raked a tree with their claws and sniffed my camera.

Got this guy on cam then arrowed him during bow season not because I was targeting him, he just responded to a random grunt call in the same spot as the camera. Another benefit from the camera is finding out I have trespassers on my property, some guy walking his dog. I’m a mile off a paved road and have to 4x4 a logging road to access it and surrounded by 1 and 2 hundred acre private lots. Not sure we’re this guy came from.
