  1. Attending the festivities at Sagamore Hill, Home of our greatest President Theodore Roosevelt. Rough Riders encampment, old time brass band and a speech on the porch by TR himself, well a very good impersonator anyway.
  2. They laughed when I paddled away from the dock, Their not laughing now.
  3. Rejected 19 years in a row, I’m starting to think Maine doesn’t like me. I hit in Vermont after only 11 years so maybe I shouldn’t complain, Well good luck.
  4. Very true, I know it’s bad on the east end from bow hunting out there, But I live in oyster bay and it’s out of control up here too. I’m sure the growing deer population has a lot to do with it.
  5. Taken Sunday afternoon across the street from the Huntington Hospital, smack dab in the middle of the village.
  6. Saw this picture of a Minnesota deer found frozen to death, still standing upright.
  7. Generally speaking, start with the northern most units first, especially those bordering Maine, And work South. I’ve been applying for 18 years in NH, hope springs eternal.
  8. I know this was posted awhile ago but I just returned from cypress creek. Great place, great staff. Of 8 hunters, we took 2 hogs with 2 missed shots and only 1 who saw nothing over the 3 day hunt. What I learned is that their not as many as some claim, and they are extremely nocturnal. Best hunting is at night over feeders with green lights on the rifles. I’d go back.
  9. Same here, woke me out of a sound sleep. Never saw anything like that. Lasted about 3 minutes.
  10. To those serving this Country over sea’s on deployment, we say Merry Christmas, we support you and a heartfelt Thank You!
  11. I was out yesterday, full day sit. Saw 1 coyote and that’s it. Slowest gun season in years. Weird.
  12. Going to give it one last shot tomorrow, looking for an update on conditions, is there snow still on the ground?
  13. The ticking time bomb on LI is Nassau County. There is a growing population of deer, particularly along the north shore, from oyster bay to great neck. There not going away and only cars are reducing their numbers. Interesting to see how this plays out in the coming years. These are 2 examples.
  14. Actually there’s a big population of deer in the Rodmans neck area of the Bronx.
  15. I’m headed down there in January for a hog hunt. Safe travels.
  16. I’ve had family members with the same reaction. First Florida is filling up fast, as is the Carolina’s. Don’t fall into the trap that Fla has low taxes and low cost of living. The state is becoming very blue, A socialist nearly win the governorship a few weeks ago, he proposed raising taxes 30%,. In 20 years Fla will be NY with palm trees.
  17. Checked the cam today and had this guy on it.
  18. Now I know why Sergeant Schultz is terrorfied of getting sent to the Russian front.
