Bachelor group sparring in late January
rj23nyr replied to Buckstopshere's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I saw a group of three on Jan 17 and two of them were sparring. The third was missing one of his antlers. Saw them trailing some does later on -
Yesterday I saw a fork buck chase a doe across the road and today I found two fresh scrapes (~24 hours). Is this the 2nd or the 3rd rut?

Describe the techniques you used to attract deer this 2015 season
rj23nyr replied to Rockspek's topic in Deer Hunting
I attract them with salt licks and corn piles...then I hit em with the spot light -
Good story. Nice neighbors. Maybe one day God will put one of us in that situation

You think there is more poaching this year? Across the board I have seen people say there was low hunter turnout, but you think there were more poachers out this year? I consider that extremely unlikely.

They make it through those 90 degree summers just fine though

I think that the deer (squirrel, bear, turkey) brain perceives a temperature shift through the hypothalamus of the brain, just like you would if you slept outside. I think this temperature shift triggers the shift into hyperphagia. In my area, this temperature shift hasn't occurred and game animals haven't shifted in hyperphagia.

Too much pepper, not enough salt

I thought animals eat to get fat for the coming winter. Unless they know something about the next few months that we don't, they're putting on just as much weight. Any self-interested, healthy animal will put on weight, whether it's 60 or 30 degrees out because no one knows what's coming.

Deer spend their whole day thinking, unlike a lot of people I know. Every deer I haven't seen this year was smarter than me on that day. Maybe next time...

This is third and fourth hand info, which is never accurate. Besides that, Poachers have always been and always will be a problem. Even if poachers were included on CharlieNY's list, they would be the only factor that HASN"T changed.

Gotdamn, the way you abuse that ellipsis somebody is liable to call CPS.

That is some great hunting, I have two questions... 1) "The throat isn't eroded any, but the bore is only fair. I shot some bullets through it with fire lapping compound last year to shine up the bore a bit & had the muzzle done with a recessed flat crown." What does this mean? 2) " 3.150"(COAL) will still function in the Krag magazine & should still get me close to the lands with the slightly pointier ogive compared to the 30395." What does this mean? What is the lands?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? Your writing is a giant stream-of-conscious with no coherent order. Are you saying that you do not know how to write because you're a woman?
-
Your posts are very difficult to read. It's so hard to figure out what story you are trying to tell with these run-on paragraphs and bootleg punctuation. I don't know why but I always read through a couple times...maybe I've learned my lesson.

More details on savage - model, caliber, twist, barrel length? Breda brescia - barrel length, shell capacity? -
This is a good pack and I like mine. Nice pockets, fits a camelbak water bladder in each side. Very comfortable. Good luck.

I was leaning away from this cause because both of his sides looked normal. They were just so mis-matched.
