  1. Here's a short 22lr adapter in one of my 20ga O/U's....rifled using a 22lr liner sleeve. I disable the ejectors and just use it as a extractor gun when messing around with this. 20 yds group with bead held on the dot.... I have a 9mm Luger x 20ga also, but it keyholes and I need to find a load for it yet. Full length inserts can be had and are adjustable to regulate. They are common to add in drillings but are not cheap. I had one in a 16 x 16 x 7x57 Sauer in 22 HP (5.56x52r) They'll shoot as accurate as any centerfire barrel you'd find on a bolt gun. Keppeler is a German company that makes high quality inserts, but are hard to import.....generally $1000 each plus import fee and extractor work for fitting. http://www.keppeler-te.de/cms/pages/englisch/hunting/insert-barrels.php On the link page you see muzzles with 4 small holes. Each contains an allen screw to adjust a cam, that allows adjustment in windage and elevation to the same poa as other barrels.
  2. Jim Corbett's 450/400 double rifle went up for sale, and Elmer Keith had it in his collection..... Now THAT rifle I'd mortgage the house for. Although I'd suspect not many here would know those names either. Honest other than a few on line places where I seen the name, I couldn't tell you who this guy is or even what he does in the hunting/media world. Well I know he shoots a 7 mag now....or did. LOL
  3. There are more than a few winter peak baggers that working for the North East 111 (115) or 48 in NH (peaks over 4000 ft). Seen some views from the top myself here and there during all seasons, although I'm not after all of them. Friend has been working on a winter solo round, think he's just under 100. Presi traverse in winter ain't no joke. Can't figure the planning either, or lack there of.....
  4. I have inside work all week! Woo Hoo! Rather be tapping trees and coming home to boil sap about now.
  5. I like to shoot my rifle and I like to kill and Africa is where you go to do that. E. Hemingway
  6. Kinda like "Brokeback Float Plane" or somethin'
  7. Went Tuesday and liked the new floor layout with NRA management (missed last year and their first time running the show) Grab a floor map when you get inside, it'll help you if you have never been in the Farm Show complex before. Have fun. Talk to Miss CZ......nice Czech girl with a good sense of humor. .
  8. There ain't no one who'd put up with me...... Maybe I'll meet a nice New Zealand gal in May......I'm a sucker for an accent. Had an awesome fishing partner who was married first time at 56, so I have 7 more years to match him. We travelled all over Eastern Canada doing fly in trips for years, new wife ended that right quick.
  9. Bob's an OK guy...... but happen to use other folks for mounts. Much of African work centers around who is doing the finishing of the mount (paint and touch up) as capes have short hair and aren't always in the best condition. Find someone who can finish great, and that's a keeper. Almost every mount in that specialty is modified....
  10. Really like that pose and a nice bear too;<)
  11. I never been married.... This thread is fun to read.
  12. Tuesday and maybe part of Weds depending how much time it takes to talk to folks I know and meet some new ones. Done all 9 days for outfitter once and that can draaaaaag. Been going on and off for 25 years, but missed last 3, including the cancellation year.
  13. My woodstove fell out of my boat and sank.... Oh wait, those were my guns.
  14. +1 No need to drive that far... Bunch of city folk here, read some threads and you'll get good tips on where to start.
  15. Not yet... I always get ridiculus low ball offers there so I haven't taken the time to copy ad over. Picked up an extra tile job that's was a quickie, so I'll use that for some ring+base money. I need base for that rail scope and rings for that Sauer to get it running.....my contact is at Harrisburg show, so I'll order there with a healthy discount.
  16. Birds leave behind the bones. You could choose Hyena. They'll crunch up your bones pretty good too, and reduce you to a pile of pellets; I can supply GPS coords to a great big den site in these kojpe if you want to give it a go.
  17. I guess it depends on personal preference at some point. I work outside cold or not in general and have Carhart bibs/coat and coveralls, and much prefer the bibs/coat combination. I hardly ever use the coveralls except when other is wet or in the wash. I feel base layers and good socks are where its at for spending my money to stay warm . YMMV
  18. Same since about 10th grade.....33(?) years. LOL
  19. Maybe a bit surprised men's smalls don't work.... I'm 5-10 and 140, 28/29" waist and biggest problem with men's smalls for me is not enough leg length for some manufacturers for hunting stuff. Hiking clothes on the other hand almost always work for leg length for me.
