Some nice critters there....

Wipeout is what I'm going to buy when I run out of Sweet's as my bottle is almost empty, also use Butch's Bore Shine. Have a couple of Bore Snake's, never used them. Used to take them as field kit when traveling for emergency clean out, but have moved on.

Many could claim ALL my work is "rustic".

Gun Shops Closing
Dinsdale replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Few shops I visit around me are doing fine, but none of their inventory was hurt much by SAFE. Bigger problem is ATF. They are making hard for gunsmiths to stay in business with regulations and inspections. 2 smiths I have used are both done and moved on. This isn't in NY either.....Texas (ya that great land of freedom for gun owners) and Oklahoma. -
Wish I could afford the Z6i rail mount scope..... Someday Personally find the R8 heavy, I'll stick with my R93's with a trimmer feel. And a little Sauer love..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnvsQgHXGUs

I think that's a great piece of glass and a very good value for the money. Own a couple.

If I could only get you on a loooong airplane ride.

I just do 5 to 7 gal. for kicks.....depends on year and if I have time. Friend was doing about 100-120 and we ran tubing at my place to get his tap count up. But he sold most of his equipment and is back to a hobby size. There's roughly 310+/- taps here split into sections, so I just drill what I want last couple years for my own use. Just gravity, no vacuum pump.

At some point I have to get up your way to visit family before one of them shows up here. Running out of excuses. Bring you a refill.

Butter. Spent part of yesterday removing a few trees and cleaning up branches that fell on lines, redoing a few minor repairs here and there. Need to order bottles......

Sounds like a cool opportunity.... Was researching a July bear hunt and was surprised to see how cheap airfare was to Anchorage.

All great reasons to book this trip here and now.... First trip was to Quebec some years ago and it the spark to travel on more than a few trips with a gun or rod. Sounds like a good time.
-
Ordinary production gun? Send it back. Rare as hens teeth, it could be fixed, won't be cheap.

I even owned a BRNO 602, same factory and back when Czech's were fully commie. But it was chambered in 458 Win Mag. Did that make me red blooded American or red blooded.....errr.....Red?

+1 Good stuff!

Been up in Quebec a dozen times for fishing trips and seen some real toads both from the air in float planes and in logging cuts when walking. Good luck!

No, zero is held for this manufacturer. However, I find a slight shift between the wood version and the synthetic (pictured here) for a couple of barrels I own. Interestingly my 270win and 300wby do not shift at all. I believe there is a slight difference in the recoil lug slot ground into the barrel and the mating lug on the receiver. But if sighted in one one frame, that frame/barrel/scope combination will repeat. If I fly I usually check zero anyway just in case something got dropped (Also stories of turrets getting tweeked here and there and cut case locks) But I can fresh mount a scope (they are QD mounts for most barrels I have) and mount a barrel and just shoot.

When you load the guns it'll keep it all in place.(I glue the two layers together as I mentioned when things get real flimsy and just buy the replacement foam packs for around 30 for different configurations) You want to cut a bit undersized for a snug fit. I also keep my foam cutouts if I decide to pack with something missing. Foam goes back in hole to retain shape for cases where I don't glue (I have several cases depending on what/where). Lots of vibration on planes, 2 guns will end up against each other without something to keep them in place IMO.
-
I'd cut the foam IMO. If the case ends up on edge I have seen rifles migrate with the vibration to one side and rub a rifle pretty bad. You just need to cut one layer and replacement foam is cheap to make more options. I glue my first and second layers together but you don't need to do that, when filled it all keep itself in place. Make a seperate slot for the rifle bolt and pull that when packing. I use a snap off blade craft knife to cut for a long blade (or Havalon Piranta, but not everyone has one).

Sauer 202.... You know me and switch barrel guns. LOL Flipped it for airfare $$$ for last trip.
-
Ya....I like it, had this on a 223 and tested out to about 350 yds (longest I can find a local place at the moment) I have 2 other Conquests and they all track well, including this one.

Equal amounts Soy and Worchestershire sauce. A squirt of honey, shake of onion powder and black pepper. If I want some heat, dash red pepper flakes. Or I do biltong which is thicker cuts, Dip in vinegar, some coriander and black pepper.

Fiberglass handle on the hammer? Elbow doesn't like the shock of the Estwing metal anymore.
