  1. I'd just chill somewhere and see if they get loose from those hens. Call for a minute or two once every half hour or so.
  2. Just an assumption based on their idiocy. And they're hanging in the same place as some jakes from last year. Neither of them are particularly big, ropes of mediocre size. I'd be happily surprised if I got one and he had 1"+ spurs though!
  3. Those dumb 2 year olds are nowhere to be found, huh. Gorgeous morning. Time to pack up.
  4. Wary old bird wouldn't come in, fog rolled in and I used it to back out. He clammed up the second he hit the ground but I could hear him drumming. Jake decoy might get him.
  5. Which neck gaiter, and how warm? Was thinking the same thing. I'm also learning I'm kind of metro-hunter .
  6. Going out til 8, good luck everybody else awake at this ungodly hour.
  7. Oh and a big ahole of a bird was strutting 100 yards from my last setup between me and the truck so I had to walk way around.
  8. Had a good morning. Hen scared the crap out of me from 20 feet, had a chance at a pair of dumb 2 year olds but I tried moving on em and got caught with no deeks out. Put, put, skedaddle.
  9. Headed out, good luck to everyone doing the same!
  10. Awesome job Bill! Sounds like you handled him like a pro. Way to make the shot Cynthia, and a nice solid Longbeard to boot!
  11. Both! They'll shock gobble to owls in the middle of the day too. You can also yap-yap-yoooowwwwwwwwl coyote style at dark and they'll shock gobble.
  12. For some reason I can live without a nap during deer season, but turkey season I'm a mean bastard if I don't get one. No problems getting to sleep by 930 or 10 here. 6 is great, anything less than 5 and I'm tapped out by 10am.
  13. Sounds like you gave him a great home for 14 years, sorry for your loss.
  14. Never too late. That being said, I'd try and get out the 22nd, or thereabouts.
  15. Tomorrow, Thursday, and the entire weekend look awesome.
  16. I just ordered another pair of sights, with adjustable height. I'm just not comfortable shooting low like that. I like my aim point to be right where the head meets the neck. 17. Missing this last bird is bothering me, alot. Now to shoot I flipped over half onto my side, and I must have shot with the stock more in my bicep than shoulder. Could that have done it? Had to have been in the neighborhood of 30 yards.
  18. So, I'm in a quandary here. What tube to use? Here's 3 different chokes at 20. Obviously I like the full choke pattern at 20 for margin of error. The third with the red dot is the XR turkey choke. ALL of them are shooting low. I'll out all 3 at 30 in the next post. 30 is my limit.
  19. Holy crap, that sucks man! Wishing you good luck!
  20. Verde 2.0 did its job the other morning, walked with in 80 yards of a roosted gobbler and set up in plain sight of him. Looks like they're coming out with a new dead grass pattern in a couple weeks.
  21. I shot 3 times with #6 within 40, only the last time did he even flinch. Never flew, just ran. Checking where he ran right now but not hopeful.
  22. It was 30 yards paced out, maybe I'm just too used to my old choke when I get in the moment. Dunno. I've rolled birds at 40 and 50 with it, shouldn't have let one encounter last year make me change it.
  23. Done with this choke tube. Frigging done. All over at 530, another bird educated. 20 yard wiff.
