  1. I keep thinking of doing some camo tape or something in that vein in my old Mossberg. It's just a plain black synthetic stock with a black bird barrel. Something to break up the outline of it.
  2. Bought an owl call from Woodhaven, need practice. Still works even if I sound like a "special" coyote.
  3. I stopped there couple weeks ago, they froze ammo sales til April 1st. Maybe tomorrow they'll sell again but I doubt it. I ordered some from Able Ammo last Tuesday, haven't gotten a shipping notification yet though.
  4. Anybody remember the old 2x6 shot? Don't know if they make it any more. The #2 for smashing foliage before the #6 swatted the gobbler. Used to love that back in the 90s. One time I called in a big gobbler to the other side of a stone wall, shot at about 15 feet. There was just a shred of skin holding his neck about halfway up.
  5. Non-ghetto targets and more longbeard XR arriving by Friday, want to test #5 v #6 shot. Seems to have about an 8" drop at 50 right now. Mostly this is to (hopefully) keep the pellets out of the frigging breast meat!
  6. Think I'll stick with 00B for my home defense. I've seen what that can do to a coyote at 20 yards, it ain't pretty. I'd like to find some single 0B. Remember reading something about it's almost 33% more effective.
  7. RIP Joe I have lived by these wise words since I was 16 :
  8. Like Moog, I have 2 badlands. One big, one on the small side(can't remember the model names). I need to get a 2 gallon sized, sort of a clip on / sling bag to throw my down stuff in this year for all day hunts. Jacket and the pants are light ,but a little too space consuming to just throw in my bigger pack. But I carry way too much crap with me when I go out.
  9. Hopefully the Senate and House swing back to the right a bit. All the new fun owners out there might have something to say.
  10. Fellas, fellas. We don't need to be at each other's throats here. King Andy is slimy and he's just been waiting for this kind of spotlight on him to springboard to the oval office. He'll run in 2024. He's doing a good job during this crisis and putting on just the right face. His motives for doing so are purely selfish in my opinion.
  11. Turkey Choke, 12 Gauge, Mossberg 500 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UH1HZM8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_A7PFEbJ9YGWSE VS https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/blackmaxx-turkey-choke-tube Carlson's Choke Tubes Winchester Long Beard Ported Longbeard XR wins by.... Alot. Forgive the ghetto targets.
  12. Those 2 toms were real close this morning, gobbling their heads off at the slightest sound around 615.
  13. Oh, no. This is down by my residence, not out at my hunting grounds. That being said if the current nonsense is in place still in May I'd see if I could get them to come across the road onto my back 5 down here.
  14. Same birds, gobbling their heads off this morning. Couldn't have been more than 400 yards away. Did I think to myself maybe I could have put that snow camo on and roosted em this morning? Mayyyyyyyyyyyyyybe.
  15. 3 nights in a row across the valley, say 4-6 hundred yards away, 2 grouchy old gobblers at sundown. Last night a goose buzzed them and set em off. Tonight I Barred Owl'd them. Tomorrow I'll try the coyote. Really early this year.
  16. Gun shop I talked to yesterday said ammo sales were on hold until April. Had anybody bought any in the past few days?
  17. A medical professional pretty highly placed in the St Peters health group said, I think Friday, peak is predicted 42 days away. Going to be a long April, me thinks.
  18. Starting to look less and less like we'll be taking the kids to Disney this year, this might be climbing up the list.....
  19. Went to grab some more varieties of turkey loads for my Mossberg yesterday. No dice. Field and stream is on lockdown, no ammo sales til April. Every other place I stopped at was cleaned out.

  21. Not the nicest afternoon for it today, but I picked up my dad and we hiked to the cabin. Tractor fired right up! Put some diesel treatment in it. On the way out saw 3 hens with 2 long beards. Might have to do some discing this Friday, and plant the Whitetail Institute Imperial Clover in the raised blind plot in Saturday.
  22. No, you do. If I wanted to get out of the program I'd have to pay 5 years of back taxes on it. Another interesting thing I learned talking to Scott Moxham at the DEC:. Can't make a food plot on it except for 2 ways: I could, prior to the 10 year recommitment would be to take an acre off the plan, and pay back taxes on it. Which isn't out of the question! Other way is to have the logger use the spot as a staging area, clear a half acre, then rake it and plant it. Also an interesting option.
  23. I like the Diggs move, but that's alot of picks.... Resigning Spain was a good move, the whole O-Line is coming back this year. Free agency starts tomorrow. Brady is going to get murdered in Tampa Bay. He'll be lucky if he can walk at the end of this year.
  24. Office of Real Estate and Property Tax Services. They oversee property taxes and monitor/audit the assessors.
