  1. Thanks John! That's right - we just put it up for sale. If you're in the area, we'll have a booth at the Outdoor Show in Syracuse this weekend. It's by far one of the best in the state, and we'll be selling our DVD there too! Also - due to the great feedback we received a few months ago from people on the forum, we're going to start a YouTube Channel that provides monthly updates and...most importantly...is instructional. A lot of those that responded wanted to know how we hung stands, chose locations, planted food plots etc.
  2. For those of you that are interested, we'll have a booth at the Syracuse Show this weekend, center row - in line with the entrance! From what I know, there are over 135 vendors showcasing their stuff at the Fairground Friday through Sunday. We'll be there with a 42" High Def. TV streaming our DVD and have it for sale. We're very excited about our first DVD and hope many of you will be interested in watching it. Normally I wouldn't go around advertising it, but all the kills are from New York State and we all hunt public and private land like the rest of you. If you can't wait, or can't make it to the show, we are selling it on our website too. If you want to see more, check out the trailer on the HuntingNY home page or at our website. We'll be plugging this forum at the show as well -details can be found at http://www.northeasternsportshow.com/
  3. That's the plan Joe - any profit this year is just going to be pushed back into promoting New York. No we shouldn't lose too much quality - our compression settings should be spot on. We may bring a bluray disc to the trade shows, we'll be streaming the DVD at our booth non-stop in Syracuse.
  4. Thanks Geno. The trailer is all HD - there are over 25 full hunts on the DVD with bits and pieces of others mixed in (two hunts are standard def I believe, I could be wrong though). Right now we're estimating over 1.5 hours of footage and we'll probably start off by selling it at only $10.
  5. Order is going out Monday to the manufacturer - we'll have them on the site for sale the week of January 17th. We would really appreciate the support - any extra purchases could give us the finances to really push New York State.
  6. Yea - I thought you guys would appreciate the NYS aspect - thanks for the kind words everyone!
  7. Hey Everyone - we've been members of this forum for a few months now and absolutely love the NYS atmosphere. It seems fitting that I share this with you all. Below is our DVD trailer for Proving Ground - the full copy will be released in mid-January on our website. Every harvest you'll see on this DVD, and every animal in this trailer, is from New York State! Proving Ground DVD Trailer
  8. This is all good stuff - thanks a lot for all your help.
  9. Hey Guys, I have a camp located in the general vacinity of Gouverneur, NY. We're looking for someone to trap following deer season - any takers? Anyone know somebody that could help us? We have a pretty good population of coyote, bobcat, and fox along with way too man beaver and muskrat. I know beaver's can bring in a pretty penny, and we can several dam systems that run through our property.
  10. I just hunted Saturday morning, after my Dad was shot at last year I decided that hunting opening weekend of gun season is probably not the smartest move. A few guys on the team had bullets fly into their tree! I think I'll keep the bow out just in case I get antsy in December - although I would be much more likely to pull out the Muzzleloader!
  11. Hahaha try to stay in the stand if anything!
  12. Walk in a long way away from everybody and hunt known escape routes or travel corridors. As the bullets start flying and people begin pushing land, the deer will come your way. Thick cover is always nice too.
  13. When I first started I was just happy to see deer, so the first one that walked within range I took a shot at usually, except for fawns. Since I've had the opportunity to harvest a lot of deer I've made a personal choice to shoot 3.5 or better. If I need meat, I'll harvest a doe. But, it should be whatever is reasonable for the hunter. If someone doens't hunt often and only gets out occasionally, then by all means shoot whatever you want. If you try to manage your property and waiting on a 3.5 seems unreasonable, then shoot a 2.5. Especially the younger hunters, they can shoot anything and everything if it helps the hunting heritage. My sister just started hunting last year and we manage our piece of property pretty heavily, but when she took her first buck, a 1 1/2 old 5 point, we were all thrilled for her even if it wasn't in the plans. Seeing people happy is what matters the most. mx - what happens when the next buck you take is a 12 point?! are you going to wait for a bigger one!?!?!? lol!
  14. Good luck harvesting this buck - he's a true trophy.
  15. Wow I can't even count the points there are so many - if you want to submit it just jump on our forum and go to the Trail Camera section. This looks to have a good chance of winning a full years subscription to QDMA!
  16. That's just means you have an excuse to make your plots bigger next year!
  17. Hey Guys - I know I've posted this in the past and John has been gracious enough to let us do a little advertising, so I wanted to send out an update. We are hosting our last trail camera competition of the year on our forum (http://venaticoutdoors.freeforums.org/) The contest this month will be BEST RUT BUCK and is sponsored by a member of ours, WesternNY. The winner will receive a 1 year subscription to QDMA (http://www.qdma.com/membership/join-...united-states/) which includes six issues of Quality Whitetails Magazine. Please visit our forum for details or respond to this with questions. Thanks everyone!
  18. Oh that's right, my bad. I was thinking of someplace else!
  19. Rob - this is a great idea. I've always wanted to help the disabled - if I ever secure a lease or get my own land I'll be sure to get a hold of you. The same goes for the rest of my team - I will touch base with them throughout the season. Sorry I did not see this earlier.
  20. Spitfires should be great! Anything with a large cutting diameter should do the trick - all expandables should open every time.
  21. Parts of St. Lawrence Co have a good population - several years back Realtree filmed an episode someplace in the area. Could have just been a rumor though!
  22. Scent Shield this year - I have had great success with Dead Downwind products in the past. Scent Shield has a lotion which comes in handy when I decide to duck out of work early to hunt.
