The Left and Chick-Fil-A
virgil replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah,,ok. Ever tried to get a building permit through for a commercial construction project. If they don't want you there you won't be there, period. It will be legal and everything. I have been involved in state giving the Feds issues with building permits that took years to clear up. Construction was stalled. So you keep thinking it is just talk. So maybe all the conspiracy theorists and government haters are right. Maybe 'they' really are monitoring this site. Maybe they've read all your posts and decided that they don't want you in their town. -

It's a fine line, but none of those statements are actually 'bans'. They're telling the company that they are not welcome in their cities- supposedly on behald of their constituents. They're not saying that the company is not allowed to operate there. -

Protsters feelign the gays should be free to puruse happiness as they see fit....that it is their right to live that way. Yet those same protestors are willing to trample on the rite of the owner to voice his opinion. How did they trample on his rights to express his opinion? They exercised their own rights to express their disagreement with his opinion. Nobobdy said that the CEO shouldn't be allowed to say what he said. If their protests broke the law, they should be held accountable. But, they are free to voice their reaction to the company's statements and to boycot the company if they choose. -

I agree with Graybeard. A lot of people use the bible to justify their own bigotry, homophobia, or intolerance of others. They are quick to condemn anyone who doesn't live according to certain teachings in the bible- and they disregard the fact that they themselves don't either. -

No. But, I don't think that's the point. I think that the point of the protests is that the leader of a large hospitality-industry business openly stated that he feels that certain Americans should not have the same rights as the rest of us. The only means that the public has to answer back is to boycot his business. Really, I don't see the big deal on either side. That franchise will do just fine because, from what I understand, they're mostly based in parts of the country that will support homophobia and other forms of narrow-mindedness. -

These mayors have done more to identify the enemies of freedom in America than all the speeches at conventions, all the TV and radio ads and all the talking head commentaries put together. This is an interesting line in the context of an article that is promoting the denial of equal rights (the rights of gay americans to marry). -
Everybody was playing nice nice Virgil, having a civil conversation. In typical Lib form, you start to insult people when you feel that your argument is failing. I didn't insult anyone. I just asked someone to explain their comments. What you consider a 'civil conversation' is just a bunch of guys sharing the same opinion.

New bill introduced-

Bloomberg is a leader. He doesn't have to play politics like the average politician. That's why special interest groups hate him. He keeps winning elections for a reason. -
Not necessarily true. Depends on the type of land and area surrounding. Down here in Putnam County, on small parcels of land with houses and roads and lakes around, majority of the time the deer we see in July and August are the same exact ones we saw in November. At most these deer are traveling 1/2 mile. OK. Fair point. I'm not suggesting that you wouldn't be seeing the same deer. I just think you shouldn't expect to see them on the same trails in Oct-Dec as you see them on in the summer.
-
I agree. Trail cams at this time of year are just for getting us excited about the deer in the area. I wouldn't expect to hone in on a stand location until the last few weeks before the season.

Thanks Bill for bringing a little common sense to this forum. Agreed. Now prepare to be attacked. -
It's not a scientific answer, but each of the past two seasons, i was bowhunting the weekend before the opener of the gun season and saw the biggest bucks i've ever seen on my property. Both times, the buck was with does and grunting. Could definitely have been the same buck- hope he's there again this year. I'd pick the november weekend.
-
I had a trailcam stolen off of my own posted property last year. How's that for ethics. I've been wanting to get another camera for this season, but I hate the thought of having another one stolen. Makes me crazy.

Talking to you is painful. You never have anything legitimate to back up your opinions. You constantly try to take the focus off of yourself, and your inability to support your views. My IQ is lower, as a result of having had this conversation with you. Bye Virgil. I'll agree that your IQ does seem to be shrinking. But, I didn't express an opinion on this thread. I just commented about how quickly rumors can start without anything to back them up. Since then, I've just ignored your insults and insinuations and attempts to drag me into a debate over an issue that obviously is a pet peeve of yours- the UN treaty. I did ask you to back up your own opinions on the subject and got more nonsense and rhetoric and no actual evidence to support your opinion- which is why I said that it was exactly what I expected.
-
That's exactly how I thought you'd respond.

What about obama's presidency and record should give anyone reason to believe that he will do anything but maintain and embolden his anti - gun stance? I think that you're referring to your own misperception of 'his stance'. Regarding his presidency, what legislation are you referring to that concerns you so much?
-
Virgil! I missed you. I was wondering if you were still lurking around here. Glad to see you're still as liberal as they come. How do you explain the U.N. small arms treaty, oh wise one? Don't think it affects us? Or the 2nd amendment? Glad to hear you spend your time thinking about me.
-
They already are. Word is Obama is going to use this to push his agenda. Great. Just great. With this U.N. crap, we're already screwed, this'll just push it along. I always wondered how silly, unfounded rumors are started. Now I know.

I have a few of the Gorilla Kong models. They weigh about 13 or 15lb, really light. And they cost about 90-100$. They're rock solid, totally quiet, and pretty comfortable. My sticks are Lone Wolf. They're good- pretty light and very easy to use. But, if I was going to order another set of sticks, I'd look for a set that was a little easier to stack together and stuff in my pack.

I have multiple hang-on stands and just one set of climbing sticks. I leave the stands in place throughout the season (unless I decide to move them) and i just carry the sticks in and out of the woods. The sticks weigh just a few pounds and are quiet and quick/easy to set up. Nothing is screwed into the tree. It's ratcheted on. You can put a cable/chain lock on for security. They're pretty easy to move if you decide to change locations. I have ladders, climbers, permanents, and hangers- and the hangers are my favorite because of the versatility and ease.
