  1. Congratulations everyone. I got my first bird yesterday morning, a jake. This is my first season getting into turkey hunting and I guess I'm hooked.
  2. i've used it in one of our offices. you get what you pay for. the good stuff holds up. and the good thing is that if a section does get damaged or stained, it's easy to replace.
  3. If one entity makes money off of another, it's a business/client relationship any way you look at it. Do you think an insurance company's money is different than a persons copay at the hospital you work at? Again, I don't see the comparison. When we provide a service, we get paid (hopefully). When a bank loans a business money, the bank collects interest on the loans and the business uses the loan money to grow their business- and make money. Both sides make money. This is a business relationship. Otherwise, are you assuming that McMillan had simple checking accounts and no other business with BOA?
  4. You feel that McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, and McMillan Group International are the same as the guy trying to buy groceries?
  5. No.. you think like a liberal and always take one side...the liberal side...that's okay.. just stop calling yourself balanced... you clearly are not... you seem to be having a problem with coming to grips with the fact that you are a liberal... I haven't take a side on this issue. I simply asked if you all had considered all the factors involved before jumping to conclusions. Again, I know that any suggestion of due diligence before making bold statements and accusation is upsetting to you. Would you say the same thing if it was your local grocery store telling you they would no longer sell you food because you were a gun owner? This is a ridiculous comparison- a grocery store refusing to sell to a customer is not the same as a grocery store not wanting to have a business relationship with another company that they have differing political stances on. BOA, as far as I know has not refused to serve customers who own guns- that would be a fair comparison.
  6. so what the issue. If I no longer want to have a business with a mfg it up to me to cancel the arrangement. they did so what.. .It must be in the dark of night that this is a left wing plot to take your guns away... Right, President Obama spent billions of dollars bailing out hundreds of banks just to stick it to gun owners. Keeping the country from spiralling into a depression was just a lucky side benefit.
  7. Really virgil?.. Here you go again... man you have a terrible case of liberal thought disease... as for a pro gun control public... do some homework and you'll find that gun ownership has spiked in the last 4 years... and they said political pressure, not political reasons.. two different things. I don't have any disease. I just like to consider all sides of an issue before forming an opinion. If you're comfortable jumping to conclusions or taking the same position on all issues, that's your business. Not sure why you're so threatened by 'thought'. Maybe it is true that gun ownership has increased over the past few years. But, that doesn't mean that the public in general is not more pro gun-control than pro-gun.
  8. McMillan's description of the conversation says that BOA made the change for 'political reasons'. Are you assuming that 'political reasons' means that the government is putting pressure on BOA? There were hundreds and hundreds of banks that received bailout money. Is there a pattern of any of these other banks making similar changes? I wonder if 'political reasons' is really referring to what the company feels is the general consensus of their customers- maybe they're just trying to pander to what they think is becoming a more pro-gun-control public.
  9. Doctors and hospitals don't investigate insurance fraud. Congratulations Dave, you've hijacked another thread.
  10. You can think what you want. What I'm telling you is a fact- over the last few years, hospitals and other health care providers have been mandated by the Joint Commission to improve patient safety and prevent medication errors by improving patient identification. They did this by using photo ID, instead of simply relying on 'name and DOB'. I can state this as fact because I've had to implement this change in my own department. I'm not going to debate this with you. I'll try not to be shocked if you choose not to let fact get in the way of your opinion.
  11. Doctors and hospitals request photo identification for patient safety purposes- it's a long explanation, but the brief answer is that it's meant to reduce medical errors ie: wrong medications given to the wrong patient, etc. The reason why most illegals go to ER's for medical care is that even though they are asked for their ID and insurance information, they cannot be denied care if they don't have ID or insurance. And, even if they do provide identification and an address, they cannot be denied care if the ID and address are phony. The problem is obviously due to the high number of illegals. But, I don't think that the solution is to expect hospitals and other health clinics to decline medical care if a patient cannot prove citizenship. That's not their job- and if any of us were brought to an ER without ID or proof of insurance on us, we'd want to know that we were going to get the care we needed. Health care costs and illegal immigration are definitely related. But, the problem needs to be addressed at the borders, not in the ER's.
  12. It's not nonsense and it's not spin. You should do a little research into just how illegals cost the health care system. They don't have to be in a nasty accident to get treated in an ER. Many of them use ER's for primary care because they cant' be refused- they make up fake names/addresses and get the care they need. How else do you think they 'steal' care?- you can't make an appointment at any doctor's office without giving your insurance information first. So, where/how exactly do you think illegals are getting medical care if not in ER's. You seem to think that they are costing the system more elsewhere- where??? I agree that illegals are driving up the cost in general.
  13. Emergency treatment as you described is not the problem... your scenario, although valid, carries little weight when arguing the total illegal immigrant health cost problem... I believe we all know that WNY was talking about the other 99.9% of "them". That kind of cherry picking semantics is exactly how liberal America keeps anything from getting done. Yeah.. lets use one half of one percent of a problem to hinder doing something about the the other 99.5% of the real problem. How do you think illegals gain access to medical care? In most cases, it's through emergency departments because they know that they cannot be denied care. You're barking up the wrong tree with this response and typically using broad stroke accusations in place of fact.
  14. something's wrong when a guy mistakes his girlfriend for a hog. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Man-accidentally-shoots-girlfriend-52-while-hunting/-/1637132/11542438/-/218f9q/-/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
  15. WNY, how would you propose that we in the medical field tell the difference between 'them' and you? For example, if you were to be involved in an unfortunate accident and for whatever reason, you weren't carrying your identification or your wallet. If you were brought to a hospital emergency room, would you expect them to decline treatment until you could prove you were a citizen? Would you be left to die in OUR streets? Don't get me wrong, I agree that illegal immigration is a major contributor to the high cost of health care. But, not everything is as simple as you imply.
  16. I'm very new to turkey hunting. I was upstate scouting this weekend and saw loads of little patches of scratched/cleared areas in the woods. Most of them were about a foot or so in diameter. The leaves or grass were cleared out and the soil was exposed. I didn't notice any feathers or obvious tracks. I did see a few birds. Are these little clearings turkey sign?
  17. i saw one on the side of the road on rt. 24 just before the riverhead jail/courts.
  18. I'm not that surprised. I think that a lot of you guys assume that anyone who has any 'liberal' positions whatsoever must fit your image of 'a liberal'. I've said it before on other threads. I have what could be described as liberal views on some subjects and conservative views on others- it depends on the subject. I'm always leary of anyone who has party-line positions on every subject.
  19. Doc's post is interesting, but not really accurate. The growing trend in healthcare is 'preventative care'. The reason for this trend is because the truth is the exact opposite of what Doc implies. For the most part, people who don't take care of themselves do not suddenly drop dead without costing the system. In fact, smokers, diabetics, the obese- rack up massive healthcare expenses. Insurance plans and many employers are encouraging preventative medicine and 'employee health' programs- tobacco cessation, weight loss programs, exercise programs, etc.- specifically to foster a healthier and more productive workforce. They're doing this because it has proven to lower insurance premiums because healthier people cost the system less. This is not my opinion or theory. It is fact and you can easily find plenty of recent articles that explain it further.
  20. I have a sense of humor. I laugh at most of the stuff you guys post.
  21. By doing their jobs?? They aren't the ones who started this circus. Ted Nugent did. This just seems like another chance for the anti-government/anti-obama types to rile themselves up.
  22. You guys are whipping yourselves into a lather again. What's the big story here? The Secret Service has stated that they're going to 'follow up' on a statement that could be construed as a vague threat to the President. That's their job. Are you not ever able to put your feelings aside about this particular President and expect a certain amount of respect for the office? Bush was a clown and a fool. But, when the Dixie Chicks spouted off about him during a concert, I was offended.
  23. I had a camera stolen this past season- also private property, posted. I like the idea of putting them up higher. I'll try that this year. But, i have to agree- if someone's really motivated, they'll find a way to steal your stuff.
  24. To some degree, you might be 'footing the bill for others'. But, it's a public plan- that's to be expected. From what I've read, they spend considerably less on average for their health care than we do. And, the majority of their citizens are happy with the system. When you're adding up the cost of care here, you have to consider the cost that employers pay for their employees (which is why many companies are reducing the coverage that they offer), as well as the cost in tax money that we all pay to fund the already existing public plans ie medicare and medicaid; plus the out of pocket costs that we pay by way of deductibles and copays.
