I have to remember where I put my broadheads, I put them somewhere after turkey season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The US never agreed to The Hague convention. We were issued hollow points in 5.56 around 2009 or 10 in Afghanistan it was referred to as a "boat tail." I never could dial down what bullet they started using just that it was 62gn and was a boat tail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Midway won't. Go to a small gun shop tell the what you need and they can get it for you. My gun guy orders me ammo when I text him what I need. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't know if the mag would cause failures to eject but those plastic mags are totally junk! I don't want to be redundant but Remington has ruined a lot over the last 10-15 years and this another to the list. The metal mags are getting pricey! I have saw them at guns shows for north of 50$ actually I bought 2 at the last guns show I was at for 95$ but 1 was 35 rem and the other 300sav. When you are shopping for the metal mag any short action cartridge marking will work as long as it's the same family, 243,260,7mm-08,308 all take the same clip. The mag for a 740-7400 also will work it will just not let you lock the slide forward after the clip is empty. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lever action caliber recommendations
Buckmaster7600 replied to Jeremy K's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
What kind of lever do you want? I would avoid new Marlins, they are terrible quality now! Pistol cartridge carbines have a place in my heart and I have a bunch of them. My favorites being in 44mag and 45 colt. I have rossi's and a couple old Marlins and a new Henry. The rossi's shoot the best. The Henry is the best quality and the Marlins aren't as accurate as the others and not as smooth but the older JM stamped Marlins aren't bad. If you a rifle cartridge I would go with 35 rem or 30-30. 45-70's are cool but are expensive to shoot if you don't reload. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Dirtier than blackhorn and not as consistent. Still better than 777 and white hots but not in the same league as blackhorn. I wasted about 15oz's of it loading 45 colt ammo with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yea I did 3 years worth of physical therapy and the 2 surgeries. It hurts more now than it ever did. Oh well I'm thankful to have an arm to hurt, too many that I know came back without limbs and would love to have one with pain! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has anyone used a new item and feel it is helpful?
Buckmaster7600 replied to ApexerER's topic in General Hunting
Very good point, having hunted down south I agree 100% the single best hunting invention in the last 20years. A guy at work is going on a hunt to NC in a few weeks and he asked me if he needed anything like snake boots and what not I said don't worry about that crap just get 2 thermocells! Also if u want a carbine, and I highly suggest a carbine. You can always buy a full length one and have the barrel cut down. It's an easy job I have done a bunch myself but any competent gunsmith will do it for 50$ or so, 100$ if you want the front sight reinstalled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are a few on gunbroker with that setup but you can always buy one with wood and get the synthetic stock for it. I think they are about 75$ from Remington. One cool thing about these guns is that the but stock is the same as a 20ga 870 so there is a ton of aftermarket stocks for them. The forearms are different just so you know. The Aussies are actually on the forefront of after markets parts for them because of huge popularity due to their semi auto ban. The make adapters to be able to use 870 firearms and adapters to use 12ga 870 butstocks. Although I have haven't heard anything about Remington canceling production of them or anything the prices of these have really went up in the last few years. I think part of it is Remington's quality on the new ones are so bad that a clean used ones are selling for more than new. I hope they continue on this path because my daughter will be able to retire after I die when she sells my collection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bad idea! All the energy in the world does nothing if it's not transferred into the target. Pointy bullets that go in pointy and come out pointy don't transfer much energy at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a shoulder injury that after 2 surgeries And the VA suggesting another I don't think will ever heal. My draw looks really ugly and I can't shoot nearly as much as I used to but I have learned to deal with it for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just learned that .223 is legal
Buckmaster7600 replied to Borngeechee's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Damn it I said I was done with this thread. Here is my deciding factor on this side topic of 12ga slug vs 223 A 12 ga slug produces 50-60lbs of recoil in a 7.5lb shotgun. A 223 produces shooting a 62gn bullet in a 7lb rifle produces 3.9lbs of recoil. The average hunter will shoot a 223 way more and become way more proficient with it. No one in this world looks forward to sighting in a 12ga. Ammo for the 223 is 1/4 of the price, 223-15$for 20 12ga 15$ for 5 A 223 is inherently more accurate. The fact that a deer shot with either weapon is going to die just as fast and just as dead with both. Either round through the vitals and the deer is dead quickly a marginal shot and the deer will still suffer. Owning both having shot both and having killed deer with both I will choose A 223 over a 12 ga for deer hunting every time in every situation. Neither are my first choice and I can think of 20+ cartridges I would pick before either of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Modern Remington firearms are complete garbage. It's very sad because they were once such a great company. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The biggest downfall on them is that they are made by Remington! If you are buying one I would highly recommend you to buy used and ensure it has the gloss finish. The mid 2000's they went the matte finish and that is around the same time that Remington quality went to crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have never used lock tight and have never had one come loose, I only use lock tight on my pistol scopes. I agree with the thin receiver but I haven't ran into the loosening issue. This is actually the first I have ever heard of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have no fear I'm hear, I have a pretty big collection of these guns. The cons are they no longer make them in 35whelen. The positives are endless. In my opinion they are the greatest all around rifle ever made. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
