  1. This is a nearly impossible question to answer. I have a stand 40yds from my back door and I have a stand about 50yds from my camp and I have stands over 4 miles of the road at camp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Just so you know excal micros are illegal in NY. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You can't use semi's to hunt in PA should you not be allowed to buy them? Obviously we aren't going to agree on this but what a customer does with a product is not the stores responsibility. Obviously stores are making money on them because they continue to be sold and in thankful for that for the convenience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Looks like a good spot for a stand for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm trying to figure out why it bothers you that others are doing something that is totally legal. I'm glad stores in NY sell it, it saves me having to go to a store in Ohio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Did you miss the part about hunting Ohio? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Haha I look pretty similar to that guy. If I have a shirt on and I'm not "dressing up" and it's above 60 degrees it doesn't have sleeves, and if it makes it more dirt bagish I have suspender tan lines that are far worse than my sleeveless shirt tanlines. Call it what you want I stopped giving the slightest sh!t what others thought about me when I was about 8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I hunt Ohio and although I don't hunt over bait I do bait in front of my cameras and I buy it at Walmart locally "I don't shop at dicks." Why would you let what others are doing completely legally grind your gears? The last thing we need is stored limiting us on what we can purchase our corrupt government does plenty. 9. I live an hr north of Albany and I have a camp in the central Adirondacks and the rut at camp is always 10-14 days after home. I also hunt schoharie county and the rut seems pretty close to the same as home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I love those carbines! I have 2. I wish a company would come out with one of these today and have it chambered in 454 or 460. That would be one awesome rifle. Make it weigh under 6lbs with a 16-18" barrel I would own one the second I could get my hands on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If this is something that you have never done I highly recommend you hold of and do a dry run in the spring or even in the next few weeks! It would be a lot better to be 4-5 miles of the road and say darn I wish instead of oh my god I... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That barrel is well trained! I can't wait to see it later against another dead deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I always have an extra 2 or 3 with me when I'm going to my camp and I carry my pistol but I don't think I would leave one in my vehicle unless I had a very secure spot for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. There are tons of spots to camp in the ADKS. I would look around blue mountain lake, Indian lake, long lake, Perkins clearing. All these have designated spots for camping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. The wool I wear is made by beagle wear and they are no longer in business. I bought a new pair of pants this year from silent predator "my old ones shrunk in the waste for some reason" quality wool clothing is not cheap but lasts a lifetime. My jacket is 15 years old and looks like new. Modern synthetic material doesn't come close to wool in durability. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I can't say I would be fine, they are nice to carry but I think I'll stick with my pumps and autos for the majority of my hunting. To me these are just cool cheap play guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. WOOL, it's the only option in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. If you have him patterned I would set up a couple stands for various wind conditions and only hunt them when the wind is perfect! Patience is key but your best chance to kill him is the first time you hunt the spot. He didn't survive to become the buck he is by being stupid! NY's season is too long to say he's been lucky. 19. I have been in contact with CVA a few times and keep being told that they will make a rifle in 357 soon, they already make them in their pistol. I can't wait until they do it because I will have it reamed to 357 maximum "my favorite handgun cartridge." The 460 is exciting as well if nothing else just for versatility because it will be able to shoot 45colt, 454 casull and 460. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It slows them down a little. If done properly it doesn't affect accuracy. They are very compact to begin with being a single shot and not having an "action" but I love short light guns and these fit that bill perfectly. Be careful being intrigued by any rifle in a pistol cartridge! I was there one day when I got my pistol permit and my shiny new Ruger Blackhawk in 357, "it would be cool to have a rifle in 357 too" now I don't even know the count but I know I'm over a dozen rifles chambered in pistol cartridges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I was always a handy rifle fan and have a half of a dozen of them and it took a bunch of time to make one even close to as nice as these things are out of the box. And a 16" single shot is almost short enough for me to like Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Over the last year I have bought 7 CVA single shots. I started with a 7mm-08 scout then a 270 scout then a 44mag scout. This spring I found a 35 whelen hunter and a 45-70 hunter last week My dealer called me and said he had 2 35 rem hunters come in and wanted to know if I wanted one before they went on the shelf I said "I'll take them" he laughed and said what do you want the barrels cut to? I told him just over legal and ream one to 358 win. He chuckled and said he would call me when they are ready. He called tonight but I won't be able to make it up until Friday or Saturday. These guns are so much fun to shoot and super accurate! And they are cheap as hell! I can't wait until he can find me one of the new ones in 460 S&W. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Haven't changed much as far as gear but my goal this year has changed. I'm not going to bow hunt my 400acres I am going to try and harvest a buck in the Adirondacks from the ground with my bow. I have only shot 1 nice buck with my bow in the Adirondacks and it was from a stand. I want to do it still hunting. The other goal I have for this season is to shoot a mature buck with my pistol in the Adirondacks from the ground still hunting. Both of these are going to be tough but this is what I do to continue the saga. If I can get one with the bow this year next year I will try to repeat with the recurve. 24. One thing I do that may help is not use as many arrows at a time, shooting 6-8 arrows at a time induces fatigue quickly when you get into micro adjustments for becomes even more important. You can chase your tail a long time trying to figure out that it's not the bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I wear wool and fleece. I hate bulk and noise. My cold weather jacket is made by beagle but they are made anymore. There are still a few real wool manufacturers out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
