  1. Thousands of shots yearly 2 bow strings a year, I shoot a ton! I have said this before on a different thread but I wounded 1 deer with a bow and it was because I got back from a deployment and didn't give myself enough time to practice. I swore to myself that I would never let my self wound one again and be able to say it was from lack of practice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. You have no idea what you just got yourself into! If you think hunting is expensive just wait! Where are you planning on fishing and what are you going to target? If you run into any questions setting them up shoot me a PM, I had those same riggers for a while so I'm pretty familiar with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Got home before dark so I shot one off the back deck about 19yds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. How will loosing a few lbs keep "a few inches of barrel from catching anything meaningful?" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I had to put a new clip for a 7600 in my cabinet this morning and I realized that the only gun in that cabinet that has over a 20" barrel that's not a single shot is two 22's. I guess I might be a little partial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. 38yds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Bolt actions aren't the best for everything. carry a 22" barrel still hunting for half a day and then switch to a 16 or 18" barrel for he rest and you will know how wrong that statement was! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. One other nice thing about the Tikka is it has a 60degree bolt throw and that also allows lower scope mounting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm still keeping hope for a late September or late December/early Jan muzzleloader. I don't want full inclusion. I love the way bow season is split up with the last 2 weeks being Xbow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. For me personally I have no issues with mechanicals penetrating. My issue with them is them going through something hard and staying together. I have killed a couple of truck loads of deer with mechanicals "G5 Tekans, Rage and nap spitfires" and never had an issue with penetration other than the Tekans that aren't legal in NY I had issues with the others holding together. 11. Low, the scope is 33mm and barely clears. If your set on a leupold vx-1 get the 2-7 because they are 33mm as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. In my opinion I would rather be a little light "weight not spine" heavy arrows leave less room for error with range. That being said if I shot expendables I would be on the other side of the fence and go for weight over trajectory. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. And that's why I shoot slick tricks! Been there done that and learned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Sounds like a perfect setup this is my t3 30-06 that I cut 4.5"s of barrel off it has a leupold vx2 ultralight on a dnz mount. It's an awesome setup for still hunting! Me personally I'm going to stick with my pump actions but those tikka's are awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yes it can and does happen. That's the exact reason why I don't use mechanicals and shoot a heavier draw. I want a broadhead that will penetrate and stay together and I want high Kinetic energy. Speed is at the bottom of the list but is a by product of kinetic energy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Penetration is 2nd behind accuracy in importance. Deer can do crazy things after have an arrow go through them, And 2 holes are better than 1! If every shot was perfect little of this would matter a field point through the heart will kill a deer very quickly. But if you hit a little forward and hit the shoulder you wanna have enough energy to make it through and into the vitals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Tikka is the way to go if you're buying new. Remington's of today are a far cry from what they were years ago. If you're getting a tikka and you aren't recoil shy I would go 270 or 30-06 because tikka doesn't make a short action they use the same bolt for both. So if you have the length of action might as well use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. People using them doesn't make them a good idea! Ever saw a fella wearing skinny jeans? I agree with everything else you said and think it's great advice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I'm with you! See thu's are an answer to a problem that doesn't exist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. We could do this all day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Where do you live a got a couple of safes and a closet full of rifles I would let u shoot to see what you liked. I even have one of those goofy Ruger gunsights it's a lefty but you would be able to get the jist of it. Those suckers are HEAVY! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. My cousin I have the camp with uses one they are nice I just find a nice stick to tie my paracord to but those handles are nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Welcome! Col. Cooper was a very knowledgable man when it comes to guns but I never could see eye to eye with him on the scout scope. With your inexperience I would highly recommend a standard mounted 2-7 most like 3-9 but I'm partial to me 2-7's as a great all around scope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I hope that kit includes a camera because she has some parts I would love to see! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
