  1. Too many IED's and gun shots within ear shot of my ears. Even when I think I'm whispering my wife yells at me for talking to loud. Once in a while when I decide to watch a hunting show I know I will get yelled at to turn it down because I had it turned up for the "whispering" part and then a commercial comes on. If I could read I would just do the subtitles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Only way I cook it, I use the Olive Garden Italian dressing for a marinade over night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm not a sitter so I don't know how much help I'll be but if your socks don't have wool as the first ingredient than you are asking for trouble! If it's really cold and I plan on sitting "usually ice fishing" I wear 1 pair of medium weight 100% virgin wool socks and a pair of Baffin boots. Never had a cold foot since I went to this set up. Make sure your boots aren't too tight and layering socks isn't the best idea because it will make your feet sweat faster when u r moving from the friction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I cut mine as short as possible. Within 1/8to1/4" of clearing. Will an inch make any difference? nope. 9gn's equates to maybe 1/3of a fps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Being part of that demographic myself. I will also say that I don't think it's as much them not having the money but more of priorities. I don't make as much as many of my old high school buddies and they are the ones always asking me when they can come over and hunt. I set my mind at about 18 yrs old that land wasn't being made any more and I was going to buy all I could. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I am one of those selfish land owners that doesn't allow anyone to hunt it other than family and I still hunt state land most of the time. I do this because my 300acre and 100 acre chunks do no allow me to hunt the way I love to hunt. It's hard to spend a day tracking or still hunting on these small parcels and that's why I have a camp in the ADKS and that's where I spend the majority of my season. Now don't get me wrong I love having the ability to walk out my front or back door and go hunting. I only know of 4 deer being shot on the 300 acres around the house in the last 3 years and only 1 was a buck the other 3 were does that my 96 year old neighbor shot. I have a pretty balanced deer herd on it of about 2.5 does to bucks. Unless you own thousands of acres there is no way to balance a herd without fences. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. 3 blades couldn't fold back and are considered barbed and illegal in NY. Unless they have changed the design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I have only killed 1 "nice" buck with a bow in the ADKS. I can count the number of bucks I have had in range on 1 hand. It's tough but it's fun, I just walk around with my bow. I don't like trees stands when I have no idea when or if a deer will walk by so I try to make it happen on my feet. Compass a spare compass, a map and some comfortable boots and you should be all set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Along way from wooly quality but he is a basket 6-8 A group of does and fawns. I came to this stand to try to do some long range scouting but they are about to be in my lap. 13 deer total so far tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I know it's like the summer that won't give up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. First evening in a tree for some long range scouting. Already have 3 bucks and 6 does out on my field. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yup! You will get pissed during this process trust me! It will Take a couple days because your form will suffer due to fatigue. 10-15 shots a day is what I have found to be best. Just worry about hitting the paper and form especially your anchor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I like to tune with a bare shaft but it's not needed. You can leave the fletch on you will just be looking for a perfect circle inside of the 3 lines "fletching." You want to be 4 or 5 ft from paper and make sure paper is more than an arrow length away from target. Google arrow paper tuning guide and have the picture with u when u do it, it will help trust me. 14. I use a 2ft piece screwed to the top of the 2 3ft pieces and set it in cinder blocks. Staple the paper across. News paper works it just tears very easy. When I was in the service and didn't have a saw and I tuned my old bow by taping brown paper bags to a dolly and it worked just fine. "I will keep a close eye how my shafts land in relation to the heads." This is nearly impossible to see unless way out of wack with the naked eye. If your arrow isn't flying true it can and will really hurt penetration because the weight of the arrow will smack to a side instead of driving the broadhead forward. 15. Your sight makes no difference on a bows tune neither does the age as long as it's timed properly. Use the short ones for practice but tune and hunt with the longer ones. Tuning a bow cost basically nothing but time and is the single most important part of archery but it is seldom talked about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. 1 8ft 2x4 and a roll of freezer paper is all you need to tune a bow. 15$ max. I have never heard of anyone paying to have a bow paper tuned but if so 100$ would be a steal! I would gladly pay double that to get my bow as perfectly tuned as it is. But I'm sad to say your bow is not perfectly tuned. If you have spin tested your heads and they are not bent they should be hitting the same spot as your field points. A properly tuned bow is not just about accuracy. If your nock is not directly behind your broadhead on impact your arrow is not able to put all the available kinetic energy into the target because you arrow will "whip" to the side. 17. Alpz outdoorz commander x is what I use and it's a great pack. I don't use it a lot but it is small enough to use as a day pack if you wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. A perfectly tuned bow will shoot any broadhead that isn't defected. Before spending more money on broad heads to be shot into targets I would paper tune the bow until u get a perfect circle. It will take a ton of time and you will get very frustrated but stick with it. You want to get the hole to look like this with a bare shaft. I have shot 1 broadhead at a target since last season and that was to prove a point on the shot thread. I will most likely shoot 1 more before season just to ease the mind. Spin test the broad heads and if they spin true they will shoot true once you have your bow tuned perfectly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have never heard of this particular phenomenon. Is this an epidemic in your area? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. This is exactly it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'm with grow on this one, maybe when I'm too old to hunt I might consider leasing it but as long as I'm able there will be no one else hunting other than my brother and father. The real problem is that people can't be trusted. No one else treats my land as I do and as I want it treated. It's just easier not to worry about it and have it to yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I can't wait! I like all 4 seasons but I'm getting sick of summer. Plowing brings snowmobiling and ice fishing so it's a give and take. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. And I could get T boned on my way to get my ice cream cone tonight. I strap my waste belt to the tree before I step into the stand. I not going to have a rope hanging from every stand I have. They are a great idea that I am glad someone came up with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I don't use them but I'm sure they are a good idea but at 30$ a pop times 45+ stands I'm not ready for that kind of an investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'm interested in the same thing. I bought a ameristep from Walmart yesterday and it is "ok" not the best quality but I'm going to get a few more Of different brands and figure out what I like and start replacing all my current ladders with them because my daughter is starting to really like it and she's getting too big to sit between my legs.
