And with a gun if your shot is a little forward u take both front wheels out and it makes a 2nd shot very easy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If broad side I aim 1/3 up tight to the elbow with a gun or bow. If I'm gun hunting I'm usually up north in the ADKS and 90% of the time the deer is moving/running and I aim for the vitals no matter the angle. I use heavy for cal Bullets so I know I will get total penetration no matter on where the bullet enters. If it's a facing me or facing away I know my bullet will get into the vitals and exit. Everything I use gun, bow,or muzzleloader I want 2 holes so if a deer is quartering away I aim a little further back to avoid hitting shoulder if I'm using a bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm with you. I have a ton of time off and have great spots to hunt and I know I have the skills to do do it year in and year out. I haven't went into a season wondering if I would kill a mature deer in many years. Whether I'm going into a deer season or pulling the boat to the lake I know I will catch fish and I know I'll kill deer. Maybe I'm arrogant or cocky but history has showed it to be fact. South west in October north west in November. We often have an east wind when it cools down early morning before the sun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haven't had that happen yet but I did have my qad not drop. You are absolutely correct about mechanical things failing. That's what I want as few mechanical things as possible on my bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No I haven't. I have been using Barnes 250 xpb 454 casull bullets for the last 5-6 years and have yet to find anything that kills deer like these things. I highly suggest buying a box and a pack of harvester sabots "make sure you get 45cal" I can guarantee you will like them. They load extremely easy and are very accurate in ever gun I've tried them in. I would also ditch that 777 and get blackthorn. There is absolutely no comparison between the two powders Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Until the first time it doesn't drop. Been there done that, get a WB and be done with it. There isn't a better more simple rest on the market. If your bow is properly tuned they don't wear hardly at all. I shoot a lot and I get a year out of mine and even then I probably don't need a new one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Screw-in Steps
Buckmaster7600 replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I love them and I don't ever see myself giving them up. There is not a faster easier method than using steps. I spread mine out way farther than most and I'm tall so it works great as a defense mechanism. If I'm standing on top step I will put the next one just above my belly button. I will sometimes use and extra step on the top to make it easier to get on the platform. If I am carrying my stand and steps to hunt a spot I carry 5 steps and can get a little over 15ft up if need be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 25 replies

I have killed 2 deer with them and wasn't impressed at all. 270 130gn 60 yards broadside- no exit no blood 50yd recovery shot thru both lungs. 308 150gn 90yds quartering away no exit, found bullet in far shoulder 60yd recovery no blood. I have 2 buddy's that swear buy them and they are successful but for me 2 strikes and they're not getting another chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I may be wrong but I still think Steve is just mad because the land owner told him and his father to drag their sorry a$$'s and never come back after he learned of their illegal ways. I would also put money on the fact that the other guy is the one that told the landowner and I don't blame him one bit. I know I wouldn't want to be hunting the same property as someone with the ethics "or lack there of" as Steve and his father. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So you're saying I can keep my current lease and my rates won't go up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On the surface that sounds like a good idea but we all know NY would mess it up some how! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It should be a yes or no question when you purchase your license. Majority rules, I'm against it entirely but if its what the majority of hunters want then I'll deal with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Life is full of choices. I make a very modest income and about 1/4 of my income goes to taxes on my land and my leases. I drive a crappy old truck and live in a trailer. I live without a lot so I can have what I want "land and guns." I would be willing to bet that many of you that are complaining that you can't afford a lease pay more for car payments than I do both of my leases in a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Steve, maybe the land owner found out you and your father were poachers because your dad filled all your archery tags for you? Maybe the "lease" was an excuse to keep you and your father and your illegal ways off his land? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What a pitty party! My family and I own about 400acres and I still have a lease in NY and one in OHIO. Leasing is a great thing for hunters. I can't afford to but my 2 leases but it gives me the opportunity to have the land to myself and to be able to do what I want with it "within the agreement." Without leases many land owners wouldn't be able to afford to own their land. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pump-action Shotgun round capacity
Buckmaster7600 replied to Padre86's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
As many will fit or as many as you want to carry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
A buck that you don't shoot has a 100% better chance of living than the 1 you do. Rationalizing what you do based on others decision is a cop out. There are many people in this state that shoot very nice bucks on state land and most of the time it's not the first buck they see on opening day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes 150gn is more than sufficient. I would stay away from a ballistic tip and stay with something that isn't going to expand as rapidly. My suggestion is to find a bullet that you like and that shoots well and use it for deer and bear. It will make life way easier and less confusing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was stationed down there for 8 years between NC and SC and killed a ton of deer turkeys and hogs. I loved the long seasons and arm lengths of tags. That being said I wouldn't go back for any amount of money! Living on the ocean was awesome and I fished nearly every day and hunted the days I didn't but I never got used to the heat and hated it as much the day I left as I did the day I got there. For any new bow hunter I would highly recommend a range finder. There are some quality rangefinders for not much more than 100$. If you will never shoot beyond 20-25yds it's not as important with modern bows but if you plan on shooting beyond that it is essential. Judging range is a learned skill that is often messed up every by the most experienced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
