  1. First light pants new for for Nz early muzzleloader. So much for the fangled stuff holding up better. 190$ and they don’t hold up for a month of my use. I will send first lite an email and see what they say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Where you hit on the hip or shoulder matters way more than what caliber you hit it with. The most meat damage I’ve ever seen was on my 227lb 8 that a 225gn Barnes ttsx hit directly in the ball of the rear shoulder. I lost the an entire ham and half of an inside loin. That bullet was running 2650fps from my carbine. The shot was about 40yds. The bullet wasn’t recovered, all the shrapnel that destroyed the meat was bone fragments. It was by no means the jello you talked about but it was ruined. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Jesus I think I’m dumber after reading some of these responses! Both are darn good deer cartridges! If he’s a one rifle kind of man I would go 243 it will do everything a 44mag will and add hundreds of effective yards. If he’s got other deer rifles and is getting the scout as a short, light, nice toting gun then the 44mag would be a great choice. Op, I would take w@Wolk opinions with a grain of salt. My 44mag scout shoot hornady xtp’s into very tight groups! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yup, around home it’s always been the 10th for me as well and the 18th up north. My daughter really got me good when she decided to come 2 month’s early on nov. 10th. While she was younger my brother killed 5 or 6 bucks while I was doing birthday shenanigans on her birthday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’ve let 4 bucks go so far. I think the rut is on schedule for it to get good around the 18th just like normal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I would rather golf than hunt around home, especially when it’s nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Got home from camp last night. Hunting my sz woodlot this morning for a short hunt, have an 11:30 tee time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Got an inreach message of some possible tracking snow 80 miles away. I’m on my way, here’s hoping! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It’s not the sight itself that will break it is the fiber optic in it. Fiber optic has to be exposed ie unprotected for it to gather light. Williams made the front sight that you have for TC, Williams is the company that makes almost all fiber optic front sights, you could buy them at k-mart at one time…. 10. Ditch the fiber optic, go with an original style post and if need be add a little nail polish or model paint in your color of choice. Fiber optics are hard to focus on and are very weak and easily broken. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Leave that damn sling in camp or in your pocket. You only need them for dragging! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Had to come home last night for daughters banquet. Gonna walk out for a quick local sit. Then running over to my woodlot in southern zone and check my crossbow stands. Be back at camp in the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. CNN RIGHT NOW! They’re not enjoying how tonight is going so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Shows how unintelligent a deer is I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’d rather swing and miss than have strike 3 go by. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. It’s amazing a buck ever finds a doe, while tracking I see them go the wrong way 9 out of 10 times when they cut a does track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. How have you not gotten down and went after them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. On the mountain where I missed a good buck last year. 36deg, drizzling rain with a 20-30mph wind. These are the days I dream of! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I’m so looking forward to getting back up north in AM. Been home for 2 days, neighbors shot 3 bucks this weekend 2 of them I let go minutes before they crossed properly lines and they shot them. Combined 7pts between the 3 of them. 2 of them resulted in tracking efforts from terrible shots that brought them on my property. I don’t care what anyone shoots, I’m happy for them and I’m happy to help them find them. I own 250 acres of very well managed property that’s a pretty good mix of woods and fields and between my brother and I we have shot 1 buck on the property in the last 5yrs. Have had 2 shooters on cam in that time as well. Being on the southern edge of northern zone and having 2 full months of a gun season it’s nearly impossible to find a mature buck. Oh well it’s fun seeing deer and being able to hunt walking distance from the house. Thankfully I have my camp up north where I spend the majority of my time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Back home for a few days. Walked a lot in the last 7 days in the ADK’s. Found a lot of good sign, let 3 bucks go. One of them was a 7pt that I’m sure I’ll regret. Back home for a few days, looking like some snow next week! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. That’s what the people want, let it burn! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. You talk of being brainwashed yet you think this is about trump. Wow you libs are dumb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I killed a lot of deer with a 223 when I was stationed down south and it was my only rifle. That little 7615 was pure hell on em with barness ttsx 55g. A lot of running shots on drives and I don’t remember ever losing one. I wouldn’t use Vmax bullets but you have to live and learn. When I first started hunting up north I loved my ballistic silver tips and people that knew better told Me to get something that will penetrate better and after having to chase a couple bucks that I shot at bad angles only to have to finish off I realized they were right. 24. Wow! I underestimated my clothing I needed this morning! Uninsulated pants with thing base layer and thin merino wool shirt and thin vest weren’t enough after my 2 mile hike in the dark. Found a crazy amount of buck sign a couple days ago so got in there in the dark but only made it 2 hours! Too crunchy and calm to still hunt This early. So back at camp getting some chores done before it gets serious in a couple weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Been back home for a day to check on the homestead and grab the rifles. Headed back north in am until… Found a bunch of sign, a lot more than I would have thought usually it’s behind up there especially with the weather. Looks like some cold frosty mornings coming should be a great start to gun season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
