Why do we still have a muzzleloader season?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Deer Hunting
That’s exactly the point I was trying to make. From a management perspective and sportsman’s perspective a modern muzzleloader is a single shot rifle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Like I said hunting with them isn’t boring, it’s that they’ve came so far that playing with them is boring. My woodman has a peep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Worked on my washing machine all day. Headed to get my daughter from school. She’s back in the game with the smoke pole. She says she waiting on a buck but I would hate to be the first doe that steps out!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’ll have to get back to you on the parts list, it was last winters project and it’s been on the back burner. The barrel is a rice that I bought and had cut down. It’s .54 with a 1in48 twist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’m building it myself with a hodgepodge of parts. I’ll have 12-1500 in it by the time it’s done. Only reason why I went this route is because it would have been double to have one made to my specs. I wanted a 20”barrel and I want it light. I never found a custom maker that made a stock rifle in this configuration so it would have had to be full custom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Buckmaster7600 replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Deer Hunting
Again, I’m not against muzzleloader season at all. I’m just saying that from a management/state point of view a muzzleloader is no different than a rifle other than the single shot. So why is it still separated. My boring comment wasn’t about the hunting just on playing with powders and load development because I have gotten as accurate and as reliable as possible. Got a couple and have killed deer with them. I don’t want my post to come off as a complaint. I’m just making a point that with modern technology I don’t see the point in having a muzzleloader specific season anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It’s a terrible idea. Round balls kill just fine why take energy away from them with inaccurate “extra” projectiles? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Aging eyes don’t work as well with irons or peeps, I’m not for keeping anyone out of the woods so a 1x scope or red dot should be allowed. Flintys are fun. I have a couple and a custom built one in the works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It’s not insulting if you chose to do it, it’s called facts. I won’t be unemployed, I own my own side business. I’ll end up making more money. I’ll just have to work a lot harder for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yesterday I got my muzzleloaders out to make sure they were still on although I knew they would be as they were for Nz early season. I shot 2 shots with each that all touched each other at 100yds and reloaded them, both first shots have been loaded since before Nz early muzzleloader. My woodman arms was in the rain for 2 days straight while hunting out of a tent and it still went bang and landed exactly where they were supposed to. Things have changed a lot since I started playing with them 20yrs ago. Before we could use scopes and the knight inlines were just coming out. It makes me wonder why we still have to use them. I honestly don’t understand why we still have a muzzleloader season. Modern inline muzzleloaders are as accurate as many rifles, as reliable when proper care is taken, have a range beyond what many are comfortable or should be shooting. If it’s the reloading why not make it a single shot season? It’s about the only difference. I put a ton of time and money into my setups and shot pounds and pounds of powder to get my loads developed but now it’s boring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve owned Both and would pick the 870. With 10$ and 5 minutes I can have the trigger as good as the savage. 50$ to a gun smith to pin the barrel and it’s a 150yd gun all day. Mine will hold 1.5moa with a variety of sabots but it absolutely loved Remington accutips. I’ve owned a lot of slug guns including the infamous browning a bolt and the only one I kept is my 20ga 870. I hope it rots away in the safe and never gets used again but if I ever have to with a slug gun again it will be what I use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Getting news advice from a brain washed liberal is like getting health advice from a fat smoker. Oh wait… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It’s called life, people die. We all take chances every day. Firearms are dangerous, and accidents happen even in the hands of the absolute most trained individuals on earth! The biggest part of this story is the asshole that did it. The irony is pretty deep in this one. “Left wing idiot shoots 2 with gun he doesn’t think we should be able to have.” He should be hung because I think anytime you take a life that should be your punishment but he’ll probably get nothing or a embarrassingly light punishment. Last Thursday I got a voicemail from work that I had 24hrs to report to work for my suspension over the vaccine mandate. Knowing my Nz season was over I shot the next buck I saw a 2yr old 6pt. I tracked him and shot him at 25yds in his bed. Crappy ending to an awesome season in the big woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It’s a bit windy out here this evening. Had to fish my blind out of the hedgerow. Brushhogged half of the corn I’m sitting over Saturday. Hoping for a big doe to bring to butchers when I pick my buck up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

You smoked, a known killer. You let yourself get fat, a known killer. But I’m not smart because I didn’t get a shot that will do nothing for me. You’re a clown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
