I like tracking when I have snow, if I have snow and a tag I’ll track. Opening day until nov 5 and nov 25- end of season are great for tracking because they aren’t going as far looking for does. That also makes it harder to find a track but if you do find the track you have a way better chance of catching him. Nov 5-25 the tracks are easier to find but you may get on the track at 7 go 10 miles and be farther behind him at 4 than you were at 7. If I only had 1 week it would be the last week because best chance of snow. If two weeks then the last 2 weeks etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Other than the obvious “warm shit, warm not frozen bed, etc, you have to pay attention to every detail the track is giving you. The most important thing is to pay attention if the deer is changing its direction or is feeding. 95% of the time a buck will turn 90 degrees after taking a piss before he beds down during the rut, later in the year it’s much harder because they aren’t traveling and do a lot more milling around. Been helping look for 2 hrs, no sign of a hit or any blood. Poor fellas having a rough year, hit a nice buck early that he never recovered now missing a chip shot , he’s pretty down on himself. He hasn’t been hunting very long and had a banner year last year we moved to a different property I sure hope he gets another chance. 22deg just started snowing, I don’t have any idea why I’m out here after Sunday’s slaughter but it’s the bottom of the 9th and I wouldn’t miss it! On a sad note for the first time since sept 27 I have to work tonight. It’s been a good vacation and a great season. Season might have got a little better, brother just shot while typing this! I use Remington STS. In testing they were the most consistent over the crono with blackhorn. CCI’s were good as well but had to pick them out with a knife when using a max charge. The Remingtons fall out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
