    Thanks for the reminder. Makes me rethink hunting my deer stand 100 yards off a pheasant loaded soybean field this weekend lol.

    I use a lot of ladder stands now. For me they are just easier, safer and more comfortable to me. A lot are only 15-16 feet. When I saw a good deal I bought 4 and used the fourth to use an extra 5 foot section for the other 3 and have 3 at 20'. I find 17-20 good for my ladders. In my climber I'm usually a bit higher at 22-28 feet. That being said I think cover and backdrop as well as location and topography can vary your height needs.

    Disagree a bit. I certainly notice decreased movement when temps are over 60 or so degrees in the afternoon. The deer seem to not move until right before dark. When cooler they are moving an hour or two before sunset. And the cold don’t make me happy. I’m quite comfy at 50-60 degrees lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    10/15 pm 61 Hunted the far stand out back for a first sit. Weird night. Got really dark off and on. Got rained on. The wind was off and on, just dead quiet for 30 minutes then 10-15 mph wind for 15 minutes back and forth. About 6:05 had one coming in, looked like a good sized doe. Wind circled and she blew and ran off, scaring another deer comin in off my right. She blew for a bit. The other deer came back in, small deer maybe a button. 15 minutes later the first one starts blowing again way back up the ridge. The little one wanders closer to me and I want to get down. I finally slipped out. Should be cool in the morn.

    So asked son wanna go fishing? Put the boat on the river for a couple hours? Nope don’t wanna get rained on. I says it’s not gonna rain I looked at radar. Well I’m in a tree all wet and he’s home dry lol.

    I've been seeing some movement on my cams around 1-2 pm. Whereas I may not expect deer out in the open mid day deer do not lay in one spot for 8 hours straight. Each property is different. I'd ease into it and try less obtrusive first and see what you see. With the leaf cover right now distance scouting is limited.

    10/14 pm 59 Hit my stand in Howland tonight for 2 hours. It was a bit warm and saw zero deer. Did see a pheasant and listened to him most of the sit. Lots of tracks between my stand and the beans. I will be back here next weekend as it’s to far to hit during the work week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Finally in the stand the boy and I put up a month and a half ago. 100 yards off a soybean field in a travel corridor. State land. It’s a bit warm but not 90 like NC last week! 59 Also saw a big pheasant in field on way on and now hear him cackling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    10/13 pm. 49 Down in the outer Hole for 3 hours. Saw one yote too far out in the thick. A so so lone doe followed him but she was just a bit outa my comfort zone. About an hour after those I had a small buck 4ish come through behind me. He was mulling around 70 out or so and then a good lone doe came in. They milled around and the doe finally worked in to a small lane and was hung up feeding right before it. I heard a snap behind me and turned my head to look and she snuck across at 30 doh before I looked back. The buck scared her off then worked in and offered a great shot op at 30 but got a pass.     Had a tote too far out a bit after 4. Few minutes later a so so doe all alone at 43 yards. I did not love the shot. At 33 I may have ventilated her. Getting awful dim in these woods fast. Still an hour plus of legal left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
