Not sure why I am in the woods! Wife text she went to let dog out back and 2 more deer went running out of the yard.[emoji854] -
10/31 am 30 Down in the hole stand for 5 hours. 9 am had a button and small doe come in and milled around browsing and eating apples for an hour. I could never get a good shot at the doe with the button 10 feet from me. They finally wandered off. A bit later glassing I see they did not wander far and are bedded in the thick about 60 yards out. I want to get down so I spend the next 20 minutes grunting, snort wheezing and fawn bawling to finally irritate them enough to wander off so I can slip out. Get home and a doe and fawn in the backyard eating apples at 1pm. Had that buck heart fried for lunch pow it was delish!

29 and no wind in 7a Should be a good morning Good luck out there! -
10/30 pm 48 Got out to the far stand for 2 hours tonight. It was a bit breezy and truthfully real slow. Not a thing going on. I was watching a squirrel redecorate his nest high up in a tree about 30 yards in front of me for the last hour. He must have got storm damage of the last two days of wind. I moved a lot of falling limbs off the trail going in. Right past sunset as I was packing up my gear I heard running deer and had 2 run this way and that about 80-90 yards out could not see a rack but neither were real big. When I got down I stepped on a stick and heard another out in the pines trot off. Be back at it in the morning.

DEC Timber Rattler Snake Den in Bath, NY - Video
Fletch replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
If snakes eat more mice with ticks on them and = less ticks I'm all for it. Also though I would ruin my underwear if I stepped over a log and heard the rattling start!! Cool to see but keep your distance from me! -
I say stay, as the others said if you have does the bucks will come. Patience.

Sorry to hear the weather was such a pita for you. Next year if you want to take a younger buck(lol getting close to 50 yikes) to haul firewood with you and teach some skills too....... As always thank you for sharing!!

Well after taking a few days off looks like a good afternoon to get out there. I have been taking it easy waiting for the 7th. I really want to shoot one with the crossbow. But a nice doe gives me a good shot I got a spot for her in the freezer!!
-
Good luck Eddie!! The next week should be good. The afternoons look warm middle of the week but the mornings good. This weekend I am betting quite a few deer fall.

The Chili 4 lbs Venison burger 1 red onion 1 sweet onion 1 green pepper 1 yellow pepper 1 red pepper 2 tbs minced garlic 1 can black beans 4 cans kidney beans 1 28 oz diced tomatoes 2 28 oz cut up whole peeled plum tomatoes 1 can olives sliced up chili powder paprika cumin black pepper salt cayenne pepper 1/2-3/4 bottle stout beer you need to taste the rest!! 1/2 cup or so red wine 1-2 tbs honey Brown the meat drain and add to a big cook pot. Sweat the garlic, onions and peppers and add. Add tomatoes and rinsed beans. I do not measure too much making chili, soups, stews. I eyeball it and taste along the way. I added some amounts to the main ingredients but it is a preference thing add more/less of what you like! So add the rest and let it simmer for a good while. Serve with really good bread, beer and wine!!

I love the crossbow so far. If I had any complaint is I wish it was a bit faster. I am new to this so I am sure after 11/7 when I get to hunt with it I should have more input.
