I just finished putting together my first lower and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. I have another lower on the way and I’m already thinking on building another, just not sure on what I’d like to do. What’s everyone’s favorite and why?

Sorry for your loss...

I found some in smaller quantities. I’m going to try the Federal American Eagle FMJ 55gr. I also ordered some Hornady Black FMJ in 62gr for now. Still open to suggestions for anything else though.
-
So what’s your preferred round?

I was thinking Federal American Eagle FMJ 55gr but it looks like they’re hard to find in larger quantities. Is there anything else to look for?

I’m wondering what people are shooting for target that’s pretty cheap but still accurate? And what grain? I’ll be shooting out of a .223 wylde barrel with a 1:7 twist. I figured that I’d put an order in while I’m waiting on my upper to arrive.

Happy Birthday!

I couldn’t help myself. I just came across this lower from PSA and I had to have it. I’m still waiting on parts to build my first gun, and I guess I’ll be building a second one at some point. It was too cool not to pass up. Angry Joe AR 14 lower receiver. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-angryjoe-14-ar-14-stripped-lower-receiver-preorder-item-8-10-weeks-delivery.html

Started stocking up with some tropical hardwood scraps from work. Maybe another week or 2.

I ended up ordering the complete upper that I posted earlier from PSA as well as a LaRue mbt-2s trigger. The upper comes with sights, but I’ll probably get a scope for it down the road. I can’t wait to put it together and send a few!

BCA 223 Wylde upper for sale
NonTypical replied to Billdogge's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Good luck with the sale. That’s a sweet looking upper. -
Picked up a stripped Anderson lower today as well as a lower kit, stock and buffer tube. I will upgrade the trigger at some point, probably a Larue. Next up is to order a complete upper. Definitely going.223 Wylde. Just haven’t decided on one yet. I was thinking of this one from PSA. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-18-rifle-length-223-wylde-1-7-stainless-steel-15-lightweight-m-lok-upper-with-bcg-ch-mbus-sight-set-516446673.html

BCA 223 Wylde upper for sale
NonTypical replied to Billdogge's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Just curious, why are you selling it? -
This nearly perfect buck grossed 155 net 152. He was with a doe and 3 other bucks over 4 miles away from His home range, taken with the bow. I didn’t know he existed, but my taxidermist did. He was at the top of his list...

The Boy Scouts get involved in the elk shed hunt. They then have an auction with everything that they find. It’s quite a big deal.
-
I was figuring on dropping some coin on both the trigger, barrel, and optics. And try to save some on some of the nonessential parts.
-
I’m thinking that this may be the way I go. Any recommendations on a good stripped lower for a budget build? And I would guess that a complete lower is no good, right?
-
Ok. Sounds like Wylde it is then. Thanks.
-
So a .223 Wylde can shoot the .556 round better than a .556 barrel? Sounds like a no brainer then.
-
I’d like to know what most people prefer between the two. I’m in the market for a new gun. I realize that a .556 can shoot either round, and a .223 can’t. Ballistics wise, is there any advantage on .556? Also is the NATO round priced about the same as the .223 and just as available or should I just get a .223 and be done with it?
-
Exactly. I can’t take possession of it until it’s pinned.

Assembly of AR15 upper - step by step
NonTypical replied to moog5050's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I’ve had the desire to get into it for some time now. I’ve been wanting to do a full build, but with so many choices it can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why I figured that maybe I’d just buy one to start with and experiment from there. -
Thanks. I just contacted an FFL who is a gunsmith. He said about $90 to pin it. And I see a stock costs about $100, but I didn’t ask him how much to install it. I’ll probably just have it pinned for now. It’s pretty much going to be a target gun for me.
