Just a few we have gotten on film over the last couple years
-
I would call that guy full of it. I have been down in the gorge hunting and you do not have to get in or out that way. Neither do the many other hunters that are down there. All they do is drive deer and when they start pushing it is like a sea of stupidity comeing at you. You call that proof of a lot of deer it took 7 guys to get that many if you had said 2 or 3 guys I would agree with you but 7? Thats what? 1 1/2 each? Yep over population there. As for the big bucks I do not see any hanging there. As far as a big buck being the smartest animal in the woods I have always thought of all whitetails as farely dumb especially dureing the rut. If the pics posted they are of bucks that were shot because they were in wrong sights at wrong time and became meat in the freezer put there by the smartest animal in the woods. An educated hunter. You and I have really hijacked this thread with our pissing match. I say we agree to disagree and bid each other ado. If for some reason you feel the need to carry on I am willing to keep going. Looking to our next argument or discussion which ever you prefer to call this. You are quite fun to talk with and can not help thinking I have met you. Oh and Doc I have to say this is the first thread I felt we were even close to being on the same side of anything and actually agree with damn near everything you have said. That is not to say others were not spot on aswell. just that your posts usually stick out

Could'nt fine the thread you mentioned. Seeing the animals is why Im out there no one get enjoyment out of looking at trees all day. Im not saying I need the 15 or 20 deer a day I am saying that is how is was and now most are lucky if they see half that all season. I don't know what deer you were getting back then but 50 or 60 pounders were not what we were getting. I never said I do not like a challenge. I like hunting a old smart deer buck or doe. I am saying that some days I like to just go in the woods and watch the deer. That is hard to do when they are not there. As for ten a day being easy or 10 in a heard near the park, just drive down 19A every day as I do and you will see it is hard to see 10 deer a week out in those fields anymore. I don't want to see just big bucks I want to see deer period. You said you like a challenge yet you brag about how easy it is to find the big bucks. Just like other trophy hunters the only challenge you want is the challenge of keeping someone else from getting your big buck. As I said I am in the woods a lot.I buy a license to hunt and fill my freezer not decorate my walls and brag about the big buck I got. When I can no longer fill my freezer I will stop hunting but I will not stop going to the woods. The way you and many others think is why hunting is going down hill so fast. Sooner then later real hunters will nolonger have a place in what will be a so called hunting world. It will no longer be hunting it will be buying a product and that is something I will gladly step away from

We have 380 acres just a few miles from the park and another 90 not far from that. I have hunted this and most of the land that borders the park for over 30 years. Our views on what a lack of deer is are very different. I remember very well seeing hundreds of deer on either side of the the road. I remember sitting in the truck for 10 minutes or more waiting for deer to cross 19A. The number of deer in these areas is way down. I use to be able to go into the woods and see 15 or 20 deer every day here and now I am lucky to see 15 deer a season. Are there nice bucks? Yes Do I care? no. I have gotten a lot of nice bucks and never thought wow what a rack. I thought that will make a great dinner. You may say I want to see lots of deer because I am lazy and do not want to work for my deer. That couldn't be further from the truth. I am in the woods 3 days every week more when I take time off of work. I like to go scout sit and watch all the animals especially the deer. When hunting season comes around I like to be able to just and watch them and shoot one when I feel I want to not have to shoot one because there is a good chance I might not see another one. To me a good deer population means a lot of deer period not a lot of decorations. I have seen the way hunting is going as well, big bucks for the wall and big bucks for the pocket. I like many others would rather not hunt then be a part of this. I hunt for the meat and for the peace that it and just being in the woods rewards me with. I feel a little sad for you that you miss out on what hunting is really about and only care about big bucks and money.

Four Seasone I only ask where the property is because as I said I have hunted land around letchworth for years. By you talking about the hundreds of deer we use to see down there I think I kind of know where. Back when the numbers were that high there were never any problems now the problem is no deer. i woundered where because of the fact that the population has droped and you said hunting is good and the pop is good. You never said out right that you make alot of money from your farm yet you sure implied it and keep talking how you are money driven and we will all be left out in the future of mony hunting. I think is why we all make statements of you makeing lots of money
-
I have to say Doc very well said

Four seasons it is people like you and ones that are not real hunters who are trying to force the changes you speak of. You for the money and the others for an easy decoration for there den that they didn't need to work for our have any real skill to get.You want everyone to just want to buy a trophy to line your pockets. Ad your way of thinking is part of what is wrong in this country.Look where forgetting about tradition has gotten us so far if we keep it up it's all down hill. By bthe way where around letchworth do you own I hunt alot of area around southern end of it and have for many many years and I can say without a doubt that I have seen the deer population and quality drop big time over the years. The state has shown us it has it wrong and you may not be wrong yet you are far from right my friend.

doing the same thing year after year and expecting different results is crazy. That is what NY dec does. They never try anything different just the same old same old and then say nothing is helping. I dont think any of us know the answer but we all can see that what has been being done isn't it. Why do we have to compare NY state to other states when it comes to deer and deer hunting. This is NY not Ohio WI,OR IL.We have our own deer and own problems why trythe solutions that the ose states use? Find something that works here. I don't have the answeres but something different would be nice. Yes in some areas more does need to be shot. To many guys are out there just for the big bucks and that doesn't help. In some areas deer are over populated in most of the areas I hunt they are scarse. 15 years ago there were more people hunting for meat and we didn't have a problem with deer population. There were plenty to be seen when hunting yet not so many that people complained they were a problem.Fast forward to today we have more trophy hunters letting everything go and not enough meat hunters keeping things under control. Changeing the I only shoot big old bucks thinking would be a good place to start
-
Meat Manager a calculated figure based on unconfirmed stats and unreliable reports is a guess. Being in the woods and seeing alot less deer then 10 or 15 years ago and seeing guys pass up does because they are afraid of missing out on that big buck isnt a guess. Oh and Mike Rossi is a dumb ash

Best Hunting Boots
stubby68 replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have had a pair of 1000 gram Herman Survivor hunting boots for 10 or more years now. Keep me feet warm sitting all day in single digits to below digits. Comfortable and easy to walk in.Bought them for $80 at walmart. Still water proof and just as warm as when new. I have a pair of Lacrosse rubber 3mm boots for turkey hunting have had the for about 4 years no problems yet. I know a few guys who like the Muck boots but they buy a new pair every yera because they tear too easy when walking through rough stuff. No clue why they like buying boots every year and they always need extra heavy socks and foot warmers to keep warm.If I buy a pair of boots to keep feet warm I shouldn't need to buy special socks or slip in warmers. If boots do not work I get different boots. Have tried Muck boots and didn't like the fact that I could feel the floor I was walking on like I was barefoot. Put them back on shelf and got the Lacrosse. -
Was going through old posts and found this one. It made me wounder when they first came out with back tags. I have these does anyone know how far back they go.

U can be sued under civil law for injuries on your property even if the person was tresspassing.Only way to fight this is to fence in your property. They can even sue if cought trespassing and told to leave and they get injured while leaving. Best thing to do is walk them off your property to make sure they avoid any possable dangers

Just because I don't bow hunt does not mean I'm not out in the woods. I am in the woods often the whole year I enjoy watching the animals and takeing pictures. The low deer numbers are not only dureing gun season. I also see a drop in the numbers that I see out in the fields when I am driving around. Many hunters around here have seen a decline in deer numbers around here. I have read many coments from hunters through the state that they see a decline as well. I am not saying all areas by no means but in some areas deffently. I have seen more then one deer come by me and shot one and the others just stood there. Even when I get up and go to the downed deer they dont go far and watch what I am doing. I am not talking older matuere deer

I am crying about nothing I was attacked because of what I said so I defended my thoughts. Bow hunters have fought against far more then they have fought for. Things like crossbows and the youth hunt. When they finally lost those fights they cry about how it hurts there season. As far as jealous? If that was all it is then I would simply grab the bow that sits in the corner of my bedroom and start bow hunting again. I have stated many times that I hunted for years got alot of nice bucks. I stopped bow hunting when I saw where bow hunting was being taken at a fast pace. more people getting into it with the ideas that there was a huge buck behind every tree and when haveing the attitude that they were better then others because they thought it took more skill to bow hunt then gun hunt. When they didn't see huge decorations every time they sat in the woods the crying started. The only thing I can complain about when it comes to gun season is that I wish there were more deer in my areas. I would like to see numbers like I did 10 or 15 years ago. I saw deer every day and could let many of them pass because I knew I would have a chance another day. Now like many others if I pass I might not get meat in the freezer. I want to see more deer period not just more huge bucks. I guess you can say I am crying about that, but to say I am jealous of bow hunters is way off base.try again boss

Just because I said something about bow hunters it is trolling? Where does it say bow hunting ny? It says hunting ny I thought it ment hunters not cry babies. I simply stated my thoughts and opinions on the op. I am not complaining about what happened just responding to what belo said about me going off. I was not looking for a reaction from anyone just commenting. Sorry that bow hunters are so sensitive. You yourself make many comments that could be called trolling yet I haven't called it that. Infact if someone doesn't agree with the majority on here you are the first on to make a statement to them that is clearly looking for a fight. Thankyou for reminding I am dealing with mostly crybabies on here. I will try to remember that I dont care. I will not sugar coat my feelings or thoughts or watch what I say on here or in person just so I don't hurt someones feelings suck it up cupcake. How many times have gun hunters attacked someone for saying something against them? I will tell you not often we tell you to stick it and move on. Guess we have tougher skin. I do welcome discussion about my statements and someone trying to change my mind or prof that I am wrong, yet all anyone has done is said I am wrong and not shown any thing to prof that I am. Heck belo helped me by complaining about the youth hunt.
-
BELO it was you who attacked my grammar, and said reading must be difficult for me. I never said grammar wasn't ok. What I ment was that this is a hunting forum not an english class. As long as you understood what I was saying then why complain about how I wrote it? How much of a longer season did gun hunters get? Crossbows have nothing to do with gun hunting. So no gain there. Yes in some areas we can now hunt with a rifle so there is a gain if that is what you want to call it. Bow season was extended by 2 weeks and you can use your bow from opening of bow to end of gun I can't do that with my gun. Bow hunters lost nothing to the youth hunt or to crossbow you can still go out with your bow. I would like to thank you for proveing one of my points and that is that bow hunters complain about the youth hunt. Is it so hard to let the young hunters be out there without complaining about it. Your statement just tells me what I already know and that is that bow hunters want to be the only ones in the woods. Oh and by adding rifle that gave some guys an advantage over shotgun users in that they can shoot farther, just as bow hunters say crossbows are an unfair advantage yet no gun hunters complained about it like bow hunters about crossbow. This whole thing started because I made a comment about the op and happened to say something against bow hunters.Sense that is something no one is suppose to do everyone started comenting on what I said I have just been defending my words and how I feel about bow hunters.

Oh no the deer are running with there tails up,my whole season is ruined. How dare those kids have a chance to hunt and become interested in the sport. You are right the bow hunters would rather have prime rut time over the earlier two weeks. How ever you still only lost two days.Just like a bow hunter to gain 14 days hunting time and only give up two yet still complain because the 2 days lost might have gotten them a monster buck. Seems You understood my point with out my use of paragraphs so why waste my time with them. Thanks for the grammar lesson on a hunting site. Funny how when bow hunters open up there cock holster about how they are poor abused children and how everything is against them then can't defend it they always point out a persons grammar and start insulting them. MY mind could be changed if not for all the crying. Trying to change someones mind by complaining you didn't get a big enough buck or that some one else has a chance at that big buck at the same time does not work.

Bow hunters lost nothing. Your season starts the first of oct. you can still go hunting during the youth weekend and you can still hunt the last two weeks. The crossbows didn't take away those two weeks you can still use your bow just have the option to use a crossbow if you want. Crossbows can be used during all of gun season and no one is crying about it so I don't see your point. What have bow hunters lost? If the crossbows took the last 2 weeks from bow hunting I could see your point but they didn't. Yes if gun season lost two weeks I am sure there would be complaining, but no one lost any time just added another weapon.Even if the youth weekend was set up so only kids with guns could be in the woods it is only a couple of days. Bow hunters gained 2 weeks a few years ago so a couple days would be nothing to lose What is it that bow hunters have lost. Heck you can use a bow during gun season if you want but I can not use a gun during bow season so I guess that would be a loss for gun hunters then if the use of crossbows is a loss for bow. Again where di bow hunters lose anything?.
-
moog : Bow hunters fought against the youth hunt, bow hunters fought against crossbows, the only thing they are for is getting longer season and antler restrictions so they can get big bucks. On this and many other sites and in politics they have voiced there distaine of when the youth season is and the use of crossbows for the last two weeks of what they call their season. Bow hunters are the ones calling gun hunters fat lazy slobs, and that gun season should be only one week,or that gun hunters are happy trigger dopes who dont care how many deer they wound. Make a good shot with a gun the deer drops dead, make a good shot with a bow you track just like a bad shot with a gun and a chance of loseing a deer even with that good shot.Just saying. You dont hear gun hunters crying about there season being to short or that if someone wants they can use a bow or crossbow during gun season, nor do you hear gun hunters crying that there are not enough big bucks. No one needs to prove that which is a mater of public knowledge or can easly be found by reading the posts of bow hunters.

Did you hunt in NY 15 years ago.Deer where every where lots of nice bucks included. You couldn't go in the woods without seeing 10 or 15 deer every day. Nice bucks were seen almost every day not maybe on or none a season. If a nice buck was seen out in a field everyone in town wasn't talking about because there were 6 more seen in the same area. Go hunting today you can go days without seeing a deer and a season and not see a buck let alone a nice one. When a nice buck is seen now everyone is amased and they all can't stop hopeing they are the ones to get it because they are a rare site. 15 years years when you told someone you bow hunted they were suprised because it wasn't as popular then. not many people talked about it either. Today everyone talks about bow hunting and everyone knows someone who bow hunts

It has nothing to do with who I hunt around or associate with. It has to do with what i hear when I pass two at a store or someplace or when I talk to them during hunting season.Yes showing off your ability to take another life [human or animal] is bad at least with how all the antis feel about hunting. And no I do not run to a friend and tell the story or send text messages of the deer to any one.If they are there or come along when it happens then they know if not then so be it.As for me mounting or displaying anything I dont.If you are referring to pics I posted in my introduction thread they are all hanging at my fathers house. I only posted the pics when prof that I am successful at hunting was needed by others because that is how they measure success. My father is retired and gets bored after deer season so he pulls them out of the boxes of heads we have laying around and does them up. We all should care what anti hunters think no mater wher they buy there meat or think it comes from.
-
I use to bow hunt so being jealous of those who are able to hunt the early season does not exist. I stopped bow hunting because I didn't find it challangeing, don't like hunting in warm weather [prefer 30 or below] and I didn't like the attitude I was seeing from new bow hunters and didn't want to be associated with that.I have killd nice bucks with bow and gun I dont get excited about them and do not feel I need to show them off or brag about them.Showing off your harvest so others tell you what a great job you did is wrong. Anti hunters just get fired up when we display our harvest like we won a ball game harvesting an animal is takeing a life not getting a decoration for our wall or ego, the animal should be shown mor respect then that. Do I have mounts on a wall yes but I dont post pictures or brag about them. Hell even people I have known for years havent seen most of them. As for gun hunters thinking bow hunters get all them big bucks before they can get out there, I am sure some do.My thought is that 15 or 20 years ago there were more deer and nice bucks were nothing special because we saw them and got them all the time. What has changed? back then there were fewer decoration hunters with bows today there are more bow hunters fewer big bucks and deer in some areas and alot more crying thta there are fewer bucks. Nope no stats to prove anything I have said. Yet If I am wrong then why not try to prove me wrong? My mind is not locked it can be changed if your point is proven, but everything I have pointed out is from talking with bow hunters and reading things thgey say on this site and others. If I am wrong fine yet search and there comments can be found. Am I wrong that 15 years there were fewer bow hunters and that there were more nice bucks and less crying 15 years ago? Am I wrong that bow hunters lobbie against other forma of hunting, they fought the youth hunt, they fought crossbow, they are pushing for a shorter gun season. They have more hunting days then any other weapon user yet still want more. More and more gun hunters are getting a bad attitude towards bow hunters because of the way bow hunters look at hunting not because they are jealous, not all any how. Everyone says my statements are bs yet no one says why they are bs if what I have said is wrong then please tell me why dont just so nope that bs well why is it bs.

PWG bow hunters are all about the decoration and put down any one that shoots deer for the meat.Any time you talk to them or read there posts they complain there are not any big bucks and say gun hunters are just brown and down shooters. They think they are the only ones who should be aloud to hunt deer. When I say this I mean most not all, 90% of them think this way. Moog, Who is it that lobbies against all other forms of hunting that is not with what they feel classes as a bow?BOW HUNTERS. Who is it that says it takes special skills to do what they do and that they are the best? BOW HUNTERS who is it that puts down gun hunters saying they are trigger happy, redneck, brown is down killers, need no skill, shoot all the bucks so there are no big racks?Oh BOW HUNTERS again. they can say what they want about others but god forbid someone say something against them. This thred was started with a post about someone who lied about what he shot with a bow just to get in the spotlight and yell look at me i am the best.Typical of 90% of bow hunters out there today. I use to bow hunt so I am not against hunting with bows. I stopped bow hunting years ago when more and more people started.I never needed special skills to kill deer and never needed to brag about what i got. As more people started useing bows they started thinking they were special and were better then those who used only guns and the crying that there weren't any huge trophy bucks started.Just listen to bow hunters or read there posts and you see what i mean. If you need a big rack so you can use it as a decoration and brag about how good you are then you are not a hunter or even know what hunting is realy about.
