  1. yep I hunted coyotes all winter long last year practicing my best scent control methods and couldn't get one. Until one night after work I went home and showered using AXE shampoo and bodywash. Hit the field and had a big male come in on a string. His pelt now hangs on my wall. I've also had to drop my smoke to shoulder my deer gun.
  2. The slug's energy was expended in the deer. That's what you want. I never cared for sluggers, I've always shot Feds and they don't always pass through either.
  3. Just moved one back in Sep. Not fun! I also recommend that you hire pros
  4. ah, speed limits are a touchy subject for me. I usually drive @ or just above to keep up with impatient speedsters who think their time is more valuable than mine. I move over when necessary, but when a whole convoy comes by at clearly 15-20 mhp over, it makes me want to follow them home and relentlessly punch them in their windpipes. Ok I'll stop. Did I mention touchy subject?
  5. Paula reminded me of something to whine about and it's that I can't find any "WINTER" Woodchuck hard cider yet. When I do, I'm stocking up!
  6. I'll refrain from whining, but I'm more on a fact finding mission and maybe some of you can be of help. Well yesterday a friend(non-hunter) had met with a client down in PA. He came back with a fresh backstrap and told me the client's son had already shot 9 deer. Is this possible? I guess some of those could've been in NY since they're just over the border so maybe it is.
  7. Seems like this feature could lead to some confusion if you were reading through a thread, but maybe it's for the better if you really can't stand that person! lol
  8. Are you still seeing fresh sign? Could there be guys driving your woods before daylight?
  9. We all love hunting and we all wan't to preserve our hunting rights. If we see someone posting illegal/unsafe activity we call them on it. You can call it harsh or call it positive criticism, but it would be ignorant and just plain stupid for us to just let it slide. I'm sure most people can understand that.
  10. 150yds at or near dark is pushing it, but with a snowy backdrop a deer sticks out pretty good. Legal shooting light is at the published sunset. I use this site for sunrise/sunset timeshttp://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/New_York.asp
  11. Nice deer! Congrats! If I didn't see the deer in the pic, I'd guess the pic was taken at approximately 4:21 LOL!
  12. Hey that's awesome! Congrats! Where'd the first shot hit?
  13. I've never really tried it much, except for the gray fox set that I put up under an old fallen barn. Used a fresh rabbit carcass and nailed him on the first night. I always forget to make these sets. Thanks for the tip and good luck on the muskrats
  14. I won't run PB's through my gun. Like bubba stated, I too have seen it take multiple hits to bring a whitetail down.
  15. how are you constructing your "trash piles"? Are you burying the pile or setting trails leading to it? Just curious.
  16. and the court surcharge will probably run around $70-$80
  17. Well happy birthday! Was it issued by a sheriff or an ECO? BTW, thanks for the reminder. My JEEP is due for inspection as well.
  18. Come over to the Bark At The Moon Coyote Club forums. http://barkmoon.proboards.com/ It's a NY based site. Good guys with a wealth of predator knowledge.
  19. I whacked a doe. One more doe and my reg. season tags are full.
  20. Back tag, check. License, check. TP, check. Watch your step folks!
