Thought we were talking about malt liquor! lol Not sure what the record for NY is, but that thing might be close.

Well done. Did you throw a DMP on it?

Anyone been out coyote hunting yet?
PREDATE replied to Woodjr55's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Yeah it's an old abandoned orchard. Those apple trees are probably close to 100 years old, if not more. -
Awesome! Thanks for sharing

The yote. Came in right at daybreak. -
Ok you can find it, just keep calm. You should be able to track a running deer just by the ruffled up leaves. Is there a water source at the base of the mountain? Gutshot deer will often seek out water. Most importantly, take your time and be careful out there by yourself in the dark. Watch your footing and have your cell with you. Good luck

I pasted a female at daybreak this AM. She was my first daytime yote -
I was surprised by the rain too, but it made for a quiet entry. Hope the rest of your day went better than the way it started.

I took a coyote at first light and a 7pt. about 45 minutes later. Tried the rest of the day to fill a DMP but only saw scrub bucks
-
Have you ever hunted them? It is not easy, but I love it. Good luck!

That is a funny pic!

Cynthia got it from facebook, so there's no telling where it was taken. Some states allow baiting.

While it may be bad timing and lack of preparedness, I guess that's his prerogative. My pet peeve is when a grown man can't chew food with his mouth closed and smacks his lips. I've been uncomfortably close to laying guys out for that reason alone. I literally have to walk away. My boss always wonders why I don't eat lunch...... ummm

Remember, it's not a party til' the cops get called! lol Enjoy yourself. We'll leave a few standing for ya!

As long as fox season is open, the same goes for all furbearers except for mink & muskrat

I actually prefer the dark nights. With the moon so bright, they can see everything and I feel that they don't like to come out in the open as much. -

Been out a couple times. No yotes down yet. Gonna be lots of gutpiles for them to clean up soon! -
Nada for me today. I could hear them in the crunchy leaves just out of sight

Was a peaceful and calm sit for me this AM. Wasn't windy at all, but the swirling was aggravating.I think the wind went every direction except for the way it was predicted. Heard lots of commotion just out of sight, but no deer spotted. Just a lone grouse and some tree rats. Hanging the bow up til' I get my gun tags filled.

so where should I hunt saturday morning???
PREDATE replied to waterweasle's topic in General Hunting
I tend to hunt in escape routes that enter thick cover and let other hunters move the deer to me. If I hunt secluded areas that don't see many other guys I usually set up on a ridge to cover the most area. The deer are on their feet and moving around, so you can't go wrong wherever you go. Good luck out there! -
I've had good luck using ice flies for panfish. On the main line I will put a micro spinner that spins while it falls. Then I rig 3-4 ice flies on the line. One every couple feet and tip each one with a minnow or meal worm. This lets me fish multiple depths on one jigging rod.
