Yep the snow I'll likely be plowing from 4AM til' about noon. I'll get out on Sunday when while stupid football is on

When Dierctv was hooking us up last year he did say that they were expecting FIOS to come through here soon(Broome County). The only bitch I have about Directv is the on demand channels suck compared to TWC

The grouse love it in the rose too. Owls probably take as many if not more bunnies and mice.Twice I've almost had great-horned owls land on my face while out using distress calls for predators. They were about 5 feet away and coming in fast, but I flailed my arms just in the nick of time! Ouch, that would've hurt! On that note Earl, even I as a predator hunter do sometimes give a little leeway to the fox in certain areas if I notice a heavy presence of coyotes. Fox are the lesser K9 of NYS and are in a constant struggle with yotes to which I show no prejudice. However, my reason for giving the fox a break is not so the bunnies and birds flourish, but so the fox can establish healthy #'s. I very seldom hunt grouse and bunnies anymore. Our approaches are very different, but they still work. You hunt the prey species, but not the predator. So the prey species will suffer double and the predators flourish to kill mice. I let the prey species flourish and kill the predators, which lets the prey species flourish even more and that keeps my area chock full of both.

It's probably written up as illegal manner of taking big game. Throw a flashlight in there and you're now a poacher. I guess it's how the ECO views it. If they take it negatively you better not be toting your most prized gun or you'll lose it and if it's your only AR then you'll never own one again in NYS

Trying to outsmart these critters is fun, but it takes time. It's a great way to get outdoors and become more observant to sign, conditions, and animal behavior. The course was pretty cool too, alot can be learned from listening to those old timers.

I've slit many a throat. I could make a rear naked choke very effective and a 6 inch gash would shorten that 8 second ride by about half.

Time is what's keeping me from getting some traps set too. Per NYS law, traps must be checked at least once every 24hrs. I work days so my free time is for night hunting for predators
-
I'll start off by saying that coons are easy to trap and coyotes are just the opposite. Very important to get the proper traps that will be able to hold a yote, they are tough! Did you take the trappers course yet? They should have went over the basics. The most obvious tip is to set the trap where the wind will allow them to catch the scent. Keeping your scent off the set is crucial. Most baited sets are just simulating natural occurrences, such as a "dirt hole" where a fox dug a hole and buried some food. Or a scent post which coyotes will chew and urinate on to mark their territory boundary. Then there are un-baited sets which are just set on trails where a yote is expected to walk.

Tips for using bait on yotes?

2 years ago I put some walleye carcasses out. They never got touched. -
I have DirecTV for cable and Verizon for DSL and phone, but it all gets billed through Verizon. Not bad. We like it. We did have to upgrade to faster dsl/wi-fi speed but even with that and DVR it's not too expensive

So don't shoot them if you don't want to. It's that simple. I on the other hand will remain a predator hunter. Just don't peddle your views then ask us to conform to them. You said it yourself, "a hunter must not think like all others". So why would you want all others on the same plane as you?

Maybe an old wound, but not really sure. Looks a tad off- putting. Are those the only spots?

I can accept that statement, but at the end of the day that's you. For you to urge us "fox-killers" to leave them alone is ludicrous when it is known that regulated hunting is not going to render their species endangered. Pawning your beliefs onto others in an anti-hunting sentiment goes completely against your comment that I quoted above. ▶ You Do Your Thing - YouTube

It could take them a few days to find it or they could be on it the night you place it there. You never know. They have quite large home ranges(10 sq. miles). Once you get a bait site established, they will get used to checking it for fresh food whenever they come through there. -
LOL and payed for with homemade tallow soap and hand carved wooden nickles! haha just bustin Earl

For a brow-less rack, the main beam mass isn't horrible. Most brow-less bucks I see have skinny mains. It would be sweet if he developed a non-typical rack by next year. My brother arrowed a brow-less last year that had 1 side that grew straight out to the side like bullwinkle. lol

for a 4pt it actually has potential in maybe 2 years
-
You gonna boil the skull yourself? It's really pretty simple and they look sweet! Just gotta wrap the antlers good with foil to protect them from the heat, smoke, and steam. Post some pics if you would.
