  1. Dust in season flour. Sear it on all sides. Remove it from the pot (i use a dutch oven). Toss in carrots, celery, onions, garlic. Sautee them for a couple minutes. Then toss in a cup or more of white wine. Cook that down a little. Then add small can of crushed tomatoes. Put the roast back in and add some beef broth to the top. Add fresh herbs. Rosemary. Sage. Thyme. Cover and cook on 325 for a few hours. Thats how i do mine and it always comes out great imo.
  2. I didn't start till this spring season. Been deer and small game hunting my whole life. I guess since nobody in my family or any of my friends turkey hunted I just didnt think about it much. But im happy i did it this year. Duck hunting is next!
  3. I went out this am. Called for about an hour and didn't hear anything. I was sitting on a woodline overlooking fields. I decided to get up and move to another spot. As I'm walking along the tree line I see two turkeys (couldnt tell the sex) at the end of the field about 100 yards away. They spotted me and ran off into the woods. My question is: In a scenario like that are they off to the races and you can kiss them goodbye or could you sit down and call them back?
  4. I had spoken with him when I was looking for a dog. Ended up not getting one from him because the breeding didn't work out for my time frame. But he was very informational and gave me some really good advice. Im sure you will be pleased. Keep us posted
  5. Doe- whats ur website? I'm always interested in dogs, training, hunting, etc. Here is my personal take on navhda. i am by no means a pro at all. I'm a weekend warrior with my dog. I went to a navhda training. i really liked what they were doing. but i felt like there was too much waiting around. for example, one training exercise they did was planting birds in the field and working on whoa. the drill was great imo. but if your dog wasn't up, you had to wait on the side until it was your turn. So in a group of 5-6 dogs you could wait an hour or more. I felt like I could do the same in a fraction of the time. I joined some forums and read as much as I could. And I trained by myself. I don't trial or hunt test. I just hunt and my dog does exactly what I want from him. Idk what you personal time is like, but if you have the time and space, maybe you could do it yourself. Sounds like you already have knowledge of dogs. Im sure you could do it yourself. Good luck!
  6. Too far for me otherwise id have offered up my dog. Good luck with the bird
  7. How far are you willing to travel? Are you looking to send the dog away for training? Or have you and the dog train with somebody?
  8. You think maybe the bird died and a dog would find it? Im guessing thats what your talking about. Im downstate and got a gsp. Where u located?

  14. Im new to turkey hunting. I see some posts about people seeing birds at 9/10 am. My question is: do you sit in one spot the whole time or do you relocate after a certain amount of time? Assuming you havent seen or heard anything are you staying put or relocating? Thanks and good luck the rest of the way out!
  15. Alex Jones is selling upside down flag tshirts. What do you think about that? Many threads by members are from him. http://www.infowars.com/fly-your-flags-upside-down/ Personally I think it's disgusting
  16. Nice. I went on my first turkey hunt as well today. Had some gobbling too. Went back and forth for about 15 min or so. then he trailed off. My buddy who hunts turkeys a lot said he might have had hens with him and went off with them. cool nonetheless to get gobbles. Good luck he rest of the way.

  20. I will post the sites where i found them. But you can do a auick search as well we will find the same things. . Not dodging you just busy at the moment. I think you made a pretty clear statement when you said the kids were taken from her because they were brought to sing for the protesters, which was clearly false.
