Kinda..lol I actually clicked on the link.. the website and organization are legit... I just don't understand what I would be voting for.. there are several other names on the ballot.. maybe the other people are more worthy than this guy... worthy of what I'm not sure... Don't even know what the heck the voting is for... the site just asks the entries to get their friends and family to vote for them.. sounds like the contest is to see how many people they can bring to the site... sounds like a membership drive to me...lol

I know one person who won't be asking for votes.. maybe 2.. Steve B won't be I'll bet!!

Man I wish it worked that way..lol Don't forget food stamps... WIC... Medicaid... free cell phones... HUD... no taxes... and no responsibility... not even for yourself...some even qualifiy for disability (bad back or too fat to move)... and social security (daddy of the kids got shot by rival gang member, mommy pockets the SS check)... fines are eaten up by public defender fee paid by tax dollars... and blood money goes back in the system with the rest of our tax money to start the whole cycle over again... you gotta love it.. it's genius!!!

And your getting answers you might want to pay attention to... at 16 you have a ton to learn.

We aren't talking charity for the poor here... the private sector has always done a wonderful job in giving to the poor... its the freelaoders we're talking about here... you act as if all welfare recipients are unable to work through some fault other than their own.. far from the truth... helping the lazy by letting our government decide who gets what.. does not work... I give to many charirties all through out the year and have for years... that is entirely different from government entitlement programs... not at all the same. If I have to pay for able body person to have the same health care, living arrangement, beer, cigarettes, etc. that I get... they better damn well be doing something to earn their keep...having more children to recieve more welfare is simply abuse of the system. Charity and entitlements are not the same...

Everything you mentioned comes under the same blanket in my eyes.

God helps those that help themselves... and that would be no different here...

First of all.. not sterilization.. birth control.. they are two different things.. and the loss of right to vote would be temporary.. and given back when the recipient of public money is no longer depedent on public money...the concept is only absurd if the public says its absurd... and a small price to pay to someone providing you the means to survive that you have not been able to (or have refused to) provide yourself....

True.. but I'm not sure that the OP cared about any of that in his request for more tags... he is a young kid looking to kill more deer...period. we all probably had the same thought process at his age... I think many of us just want him to understand the pros and cons here... he seems to be a kid who is enthusiastic about hunting and we should encourage him to remain that way, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't pass on opinions about what could happen with his choices... I'm sure he has learned a few things here that he might not have realized had he not asked his question.

Not true... they are now under the employ of the public who is paying their salary so to speak.. as their employer we can impose rules and regulations.. this is not the government giving them money... the government has no money except what the people have given them... and there should be no free handouts... making recipients of public welfare money act responsibly to get that money is not infringing on their rights... its giving them a chance learn what it means to earn their living and become a part of society.. not leach off of society.

I am not one to condone breaking the law.. and I don't know exactly how the law is written for the area.. but I just don't see the huge problem here... at least not on a level to start another feud with a neighbor... I had a similar situation with my neighbors when they first moved in next door... I live in the country as well... my neighbor was burning some old building material from a downed barn next door... it was a bonfire and the smoke from smelly old wood engulf the surrounding neighbors... i calmly went over and introduced myself and started making small talk mentioning that he had quite the fire going... he laughed and said "yeah, there is a lot of that old barn".. I then said in a friendly way to him " Just be careful.. there is a burning ordinance in the area... a fire that size might cause a problem with the neighbors... I think I'd keep the fires small so they don't get too out off control"... then I offered to burn some of it on my firepit that we use for night time campfires.. he immediately let me know that he wasn't aware of the ordinance and would reduce the fire to just a small camp fire size... I helped him burn the remaining wood structure and offered my 12' trailer to haul anything that wasn't burnable to the dump. We cleaned up the area in a weekend and he and I have become good friends and good neighbors... he has always been appreciative of the help and how I handled the situation. I have since told him that it was my way of telling him that I wasn't happy with what he was doing at the time...but didn't want to create a Hatfield and McCoy relationship with my neighbor... we laugh about it now.

Some Marines are in trouble
nyantler replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Point well taken.. but I still don't think this rises to the level of jailing war time Marines... disciplinary action yes.. there still should be a greater standard held by our soldiers.... -
The only known bone disease in the black bear that I could find is osteoporosis... which can occur from lack of hibernation... other than that no reference to any other disease of the bone in bear.

I'm sure not just his first post, but his last..lol No, also!

Some Marines are in trouble
nyantler replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah.. they were told they could riddle them with bullets and bombs to kill them but you can't take a piss on them after wards...lol... I'd wonder if the public understands what those dead taliban soldiers put the marines through prior to being killed... maybe some folks ought to walk in the boots of a soldier before judging their behavior in a war situation. I may not condone the actions of the marines but I think I understand... maybe make them peel a few thousand potatoes, but jail time?.. thats ridiculous! -
This is a good example of why the record book is important... there is a chance that this buck never would have been seen by many of us if not recorded and preserved in history.

DEC looking for help with new killer deer disease
nyantler replied to erussell's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm sure then we would find out how many actually care about deer hunting as a conservation effort -
"Again I think more people here care about how many deer they are capable of shooting rather than the deer heard's well being." Unfortunately that is the case in much of the hunting community... somehow the amount and size of the deer one kills has become a symbol of manhood... I've said it once and I'll say it again... most hunters would rather cut their tongue out than have to tell their buddies they didn't get a deer this year.... we need to understand that this is not a contest to see who has the most hair on his chest...

I'm not sure this is about giving these guys a death sentence, but I would hope it serves as a wake up call for the guys to be aware of the difference between responsible hunting and.. as Doc put it... "game hog"... young folks should realize that there is a difference, hell.. even some older folks should too.
-
Thats a good point... but the better question would be why are 4 guys finding it necessary to kill 13 deer.. do they need the deer meat or are they just wanting to kill more deer just to kill more deer? If they really need that many deer because their families will starve without them (which I find hard to believe).. then I suppose it would make sense. But to just grab all the tags you can just to hunt longer and kill more deer that you don't need for the sake of killing... I have a problem with that. I know it's all legal and such... but that kind of hunter greed doesn't sit well with me. 13 guys, 13 deer nothing wrong with that... and maybe if the 4 guys were filling tags to donate to a food kitchen... I might feel a little better about it.

That is not a NYS Big Buck Club rule. As far as entering a buck in the record book that is a road kill.. I'm sure there are some that might get one by us.. but so what? The record book is about recording the buck for future hunters to see... not about the hunter... frankly.. shortly after a hunter takes a record book buck , most people will remember the buck, but won't remember the guy.
-
Actually you can.. it is entered in a "found dead" catagory though
