  1. so what do you consider an active member? somene who pays dues for the year or lifetime makes them active? Seems to me it just makes tham paying a fee to say they belong. maybe so, but thats the mininum requirement to be an "active" member.. pay the dues. Members of gun clubs do it all the time..pay their membership and you never see them.. they are still active members with voting rights. The fact that they are a member shows their support which IMO constitutes being active.
  2. Sorry Bubba.. still not buying it... but I will take back the liar part cuz i think you're a good guy.
  3. I agree.. sorry for hijacking the thread a bit..
  4. Rocket I know you mean welll, but you really don't know what you're talking about... I keep trying to tell you its not all about bigger racks... you have to read a little bit about what deer management is all about then you can form an educated opinion.. even if your opinion isn't the same as mine.. but you need to know what you're talking about first.
  5. Come on Bubba! Don't force me to call you a liar... : :D I'd let ya slide if i said it was 130 class.. but 150-160? You're not lettin' him walk where you hunt.. cuz you know he'd have a big body to go with that rack!
  6. not really fair cuz a couple of the others and I could have it to 100 easily in a few minutes... :D
  7. Although what you say is absolutely true.. hunters are still having a hard time just grasping why AR is such an important part of the QDM... what I have always stressed when speaking on QDM is that it is and never should be about growing bigger antlered bucks.. thats just inherent to QDM when you develop older age classes of bucks in the herd. I don't think guys have as much of a problem with the rest of qdm.. but for some reason they have a problem with protecting yearling bucks. If you can get them to understand the importance of AR in a management plan the rest will fall easily into place.
  8. Pete's not so sneaky anymore! Nice
  9. My kids are in their 20's and they are in great shape and they can't keep up.. they wonder how it's possible that I can be in better shape than them.. I tell them that... I'm not... I'm just tougher and more stubborn than they are!
  10. Just to clarify Bubba.. the point was in reference to Rocket saying that he hunts only for small tender deer because he's a meat hunter...thats BS and we all know it...when confronted with a nasty old monster of a buck.. he's shooting that just like everyone else.
  11. Ok I'll play along.. its the first day and the buck looks like a 150-160 class buck.. and you only have one tag...either sex... the doe is about 90-100 lbs... both are standing broadside at 40 yards in an open meadow.. and neither has a clue you are there... the drag is 100 yards downhill to your truck... My point with Rocket was that if he claims to be a meat hunter... then he would take either or... but we all know that 100% of the hunters would take the buck... and if they say different ... they are lying... so much for I'm not a rack hunter... one is not a rack hunter only when not presented a suitable rack and suddenly becomes a meat hunter... ;D I'll even go one step further and say the other deer is not a doe but rather a 4 pt buck... you are still going to take the bigger buck...
  12. yeah I guess I can understand that.. I saw on another thread you are at SUNY Albany... my oldest son is 2006 grad from there.. good school kid..
  13. Good for you.. my oldest son graduated from Albany with a computer science degree in 2006.. great school
  14. one of many that you'll encounter in your life young man
  15. In theory I respect the marriage contract and I have every intention of getting married. My parents have been married for 24 years now and that is because they respected and honored that vow. The reason I call it laughable is because unfortunately the majority of our society does not seem to share this view with myself, you, and people like my parents. "Till death do us part" has become "Eh, we'll see what happens," and as unfortunate as it is it's only getting worse. The divroce rate in this country is over 50%, I'm not sure about you but I think that is a disgusting statistic. That's why I'm so pessimistic I suppose. Why pessimistic? Because many people don't get it? You'd be better off taking an example from your parents who have managed to stay married 24 years... you get out what you put in.. and that applies to nearly everything in life...the real problem is people give up before they even get started.... if your parents hav been married 24 yrs I'm guessing you're in your 20's... believe me there is a lot more to learn about life for you young man... so take the optimistic appproach.. you're life will be far better for it
  16. Rocket .. you don't even know me.. everytime you post a response you make less and less sense... your meat hunting is BS.. if I put a small doe in front of you and a 12 point buck.. you'd shoot the buck every time ... so get off your ignorant horse
  17. At 70 fasteddie.. I think you have earned the right hunt as close to the truck as you like... usually they older guys aren't the ones complaining about the drag
  18. Thats ok if thats what you want to do.. but you may want to do some homework about the type of deer you're shooting and why you are shooting them and how it affects your hunting experience.. just sayin'
