sometimes what we think are low deer numbers because we don't see as many deer could be the population getting back to where it should be... ideal habitat populations have nothing to do with how many deer we would like to see... and everything to do with how many deer the habitat can handle...

Who the hell has been talking about conservative politics... we're talking about guys that not only have given up on fighting this fight but give up every time the going gets a little tough... the fact that we still can carry a gun anywhere in this country is proof alone that we have been successful fighting off a 50 year onslaught by progressives trying into get rid of the 2nd amendment... there is your answer... I have never mentioned anything about conservative "politics"... politics is politics... I don't fight to convince politicians, I fight to keep the people informed... every time a person backs away because they're sick of politics they play into the plan of anti-gun hardliners that are hoping that's exactly what you'll do... maybe that's why it's hard to gain any ground... guys like you think it's about politics... -

if the system has failed then it falls directly on the back of defeatists like you that would rather give up than fight... and you continue to wave the white flag and give up what you believe in because you don't think you can win... think about how little sense that makes... it's kind of like standing in a deep hole with a shovel trying to dig your way up... -

and it seems like people like you are the reason.. defeatists that curl up in a little ball when things get a bit rough... you're exactly the type of person Coumo and his minions are hoping for come November... Oh.. and you still haven't said what your great plan is ... I'm assuming it is to curl up into a tighter fetal position. -
The wife wouldn't let you???? Yeah mine either... and I have 4 hanging in the house... 2 in living room... lmao.. wife wouldn't let you... that's a hoot... hang it right over the couch where she sits...

In their defense they could be like myself... I offer up my opinion here just as a point of conversation... the truth is I really care very little about much of what is debated here.... but like to be in on the conversation.

I think bow hunters are bothered just as much by gun hunters as gun hunters are by bow hunters... like many arguments.. it depends on which side of the argument you're on... my real point is that it is all nonsense to me and I'm sure you probably feel that way as well. I really just can't seem to understand how people get so rapped up in these conflicts other than as a good point of conversation on a forum.

I would have to agree... but not much different really than what the introduction of the compound did for bow hunting... many hunters had a hard time with traditional equipment... the compound made archery more appealing to many hunters. I'm aware that many see compounds and crossbows as apples and oranges... but many of us still see compounds and traditional bows that way as well. Honestly, I think we should move on from the crossbow uproar and concentrate on a little unification within the hunting world... but that's just me. All this just makes for some good old fashioned conversation to me, none of it matters much in the total scheme of things... I'm still going to enjoy my hunting regardless. I'm no going to bitch when something is added to hunting.. I'll save my bitching for when they start to take things away.

Yup.. that is kind of it in a nut shell... personally I have never understood the feud between gun hunters and bow hunters.. or the complaints about adding 2 weeks to bow season, the addition of late seasons, etc.... as far as I'm concerned my choice to hunt Northern zone & southern zone with all legal weapons allows me to be in the woods hunting deer from late Sept. thru early Dec... It doesn't get much better than that. Not a lot to complain about really... and I'm having so much fun I don't have time to care about what the rest of the hunters are doing.. I would like to believe they're having fun too.. but it seems like some are more concerned about what the other hunters are doing or not doing, or who might be killing who's deer with what weapon... I just don't get that and never will.
-
Most of them would get lost in any real woods... and yes they started somewhere just like the rest of the guys that would get lost in the real woods. I'm sure they could kill "a" deer on an unguided hunt, but I'll bet it would be nothing like what you see them kill on their shows off the big deer farm ranches in south Texas.. just sayin' Somebody like a Jim Shockey would be a bit different ... I doubt many hunters could keep up with him.

Having been in the circle for a short time and seeing how the industry operates... none of this is surprising... lots of these guys and gals push the envelope of ethics all the time... more than that though... they have turned trophy management ( or to some QDM) into a huge deer farming operations that helps increase the odds of killing a big buck for television... I could take many of these so called "super hunters" into the Adirondacks and drop them off with just a compass, and not only would they probably never kill a deer with all their Super deer knowledge, I bet there would have to be search parties sent out to find their lost butts... might be fun to see some of that footage on their shows though...lol

That's a Dandy!!!

At this point it doesn't matter whether it's true or not... just the accusation is enough to get you ousted from the industry. This kind of cheating is way more common than you think... but, then again, so are unfounded accusations... it's a tough industry and some people will do whatever to grab a piece of it.

Great attitude.. that's what its all about. It'll happen when it happens, until then you're still having a great time!

I am particularly interested in the inexpensive $7500 buck... not everyday a hunter gets a deal like that on a good 250" buck. I'm hoping to just pay for the buck already euthanized to help save on hard to find ammo. In fact, can I just pay for the buck plus shipping and you can just UPS me the antlers. Thanks in advance. PS. please feel free to contact me if you have a deal on a 300" buck for around $10,000.

The only natural predator of a red tailed hawk is the great horned owl... so one of those owl decoys would work nicely.. but will also scare off the birds -

If that hawk wanted your dog it wouldn't care if you had a bird feeder or not... It would be a very rare occurrence for a hawk to grab a small dog... but they certainly like a good bird feeder... kind of like a buffet for them. -

and that is the reason we have to continue to do whatever possible to get the word out and educate gun owners and non-gun owners alike. I will bet that many on this forum have already learned a lot that they didn't know about the 2nd amendment and the attack on it and how important it can be to the rest of the Constitution. I say keep talking until everyone listens. -

People need to also realize that it has never stopped with so called "sensible" gun laws... no laws have been enacted by referendum of the people... they are always passed in the wee hours of the night, behind closed doors by government officials with an agenda... there is no such thing as a sensible gun law that targets law abiding citizens only and has no affect on criminal activity. The 2nd Amendment uses the term "arms" in the perfect way... not mentioning the type of weapon gives citizens the right to own that weapon which will allow them to defend themselves against any weapon of the time. Back then it was muskets... today it's an AR15. Wouldn't have made much sense to have had a law that allowed citizens to carry muskets forever... while the rest of the world and the government could create newer and better weapons... our forefathers used the term "arms" on purpose and for that very reason. -

I think the best approach to getting non-gun owners to pay attention is to explain how if one amendment can be attacked so viciously... what is to stop the attack on the rights given by other amendments? ... People need to understand that the collapse of a structure can start with the removal of one brick.
