  1. 44 tines, 44 beams, maybe??? 25 for circumferences, 18 for spread???... 130-135 at best
  2. That's why your free to go, or not, to one of his shows... he isn't an in your face kind of guy about his faith anyway... you would enjoy it Steve.
  3. I agree... you need to get all the garbage out of the ground anyway to start finding the good stuff... for the new guys it is important to spend time learning and getting to know your detector... that's why I like my Garrett detectors.. they allow me to set up my detector and discriminate without eliminating things like gold which fall lower on the number scale than other precious metals... but you are right about too much discrimination.. especially early on when you should dig everything so that you can learn your detector...
  4. I think I enjoy the researching as much as the digging... unbelievable how much I found out I didn't know about how people lived back then until I started this hobby.
  5. LOL come with me sometime... once you know some of the secrets.. you'll start finding stuff... looks like maybe you should start discriminating out the iron with your detector..LOL
  6. Its worth the buy from his site... he is probably one of the best authorities on metal detecting... been great for me because he is a personal friend... so I get to pick his brain all the time... we have spent countless hours together detecting using old maps and logging many hours searching for lost settlements in some remote places around the state... we have been tossing around the idea of maybe doing a podcast series... we'll see.
  7. I think the best detector on the market right now for beginners is the Garrett Ace 250 for about $250 bucks it is as good as any thing out there... if you want something a bit more waterproof the Garrett AT Pro is a good choice... about $500... both are easy to use .. I own both and have found lots of good stuff even at cellar holes that I know have been done to death.. all detectors will have a bit of a learning curve to deal with in the beginning... but with the Ace 250 you'll be finding stuff right away.
  8. Great pics... we have a feeder at camp... we love to watch the birds at it
  9. I have been metal detecting for a few year and have found boxes full of cool stuff.. civil war relics, silver, 19th century relics... last week I came upon an 1866 2 cent coin at a cellar hole in Oswego county...also found a civil war breast plate badge in Chittenango NY... a friend of mine, Frank Pandozzi, who I metal detect with (he has been metal detecting for 30 years) has a great site, several e books and a TV series video... http://www.metal-detecting-ghost-towns-of-the-east.com/ Some cool stuff I have found
  10. New wooden arrows... and maybe a guitar string with Gene Autrey's finger print
  11. I have always been of the rule ... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it... no reason to try something new if what you're using is working for you... example: I still shoot the cheap Remington slugs in my 870... have never tried anything else because I've never needed anything else... never understood why fellas want to keep changing things when what they have is getting the job done... the latest and greatest isn't always the greatest.
  12. Unless he gets elected governor and decides to step down from his position to run for Pres. in 2016. Then she would be our new Governor... whether I liked her or not makes no difference because I will never vote for him.
  13. This should all be a non-issue for anyone NOT voting for Cuomo... even if I liked her I wouldn't vote for him... so it matters little to me... as for the original post... the NRA gave her a score based on her track record which has been great in past years... she has been very pro gun.
  14. Makes no sense that half the state has to wear back tags and the other half doesn't... I can't think of a good reason why wearing a back tag in the southern zone is any different than wearing it in the north. I always have it, but never wear it. For some reason though I have a gazillion of those pin on tag holders in camo and blaze orange... not sure why I have them or why I keep them.
  15. I see we have gathered a few extra defeatist quitters in my absence... still trying like hell to convince the group that waving the white flag is the way to go... yep.. that ought to teach 'em... First they tell us how bad the politics is, then how stupid the people are, then how smart they are for figuring out how bad and stupid everyone is... then tell us how important it is to do nothing about any of it. Now there is a plan!!
  16. You Have been talking politics... but the fight has little to do with politics and everything to do with keeping the people informed about the truth... Yup enough said... you are stuck on run and hide... that mentality is how things got this far in the first place... complacency and apathy?... good plan.
  17. sometimes what we think are low deer numbers because we don't see as many deer could be the population getting back to where it should be... ideal habitat populations have nothing to do with how many deer we would like to see... and everything to do with how many deer the habitat can handle...
  18. Who the hell has been talking about conservative politics... we're talking about guys that not only have given up on fighting this fight but give up every time the going gets a little tough... the fact that we still can carry a gun anywhere in this country is proof alone that we have been successful fighting off a 50 year onslaught by progressives trying into get rid of the 2nd amendment... there is your answer... I have never mentioned anything about conservative "politics"... politics is politics... I don't fight to convince politicians, I fight to keep the people informed... every time a person backs away because they're sick of politics they play into the plan of anti-gun hardliners that are hoping that's exactly what you'll do... maybe that's why it's hard to gain any ground... guys like you think it's about politics...
  19. if the system has failed then it falls directly on the back of defeatists like you that would rather give up than fight... and you continue to wave the white flag and give up what you believe in because you don't think you can win... think about how little sense that makes... it's kind of like standing in a deep hole with a shovel trying to dig your way up...
  20. for those that don't think its possible.. here ya go
  21. and it seems like people like you are the reason.. defeatists that curl up in a little ball when things get a bit rough... you're exactly the type of person Coumo and his minions are hoping for come November... Oh.. and you still haven't said what your great plan is ... I'm assuming it is to curl up into a tighter fetal position.
  22. The wife wouldn't let you???? Yeah mine either... and I have 4 hanging in the house... 2 in living room... lmao.. wife wouldn't let you... that's a hoot... hang it right over the couch where she sits...
  23. Looks freeze dried not stuffed... I have known Palmer for a while and wouldn't have him stuff a pillow for me...
