That definitely was it for me. I was moving my bow arm down to make the angle. Obviously completely wrong. I remember hearing people always say bend at the waist but now actually understand the difference.
-
let me know how it works. I always thought it would work well if there is a lot of greyish dead backdrop like some barks and older logged areas.

sounds like how I hunt howlands island in northern montezuma... No vehicle access but a bike sure as heck beats walking
-
Seriously though, nice looking buck. I wish the best for you and hope you get to see him in the light hours.

Let the expert here chime in... With my vast knowledge in this matter, he's hands down a 1.5 yo. :eatspopcorn:

First officially confirmed Coyote sighting by DEC on Long Island

I'm serious though. I thought it was f'ed up. A guy I worked with told me about it and I thought it was ridiculous too. On that note though (leaving before being grilled) -

Seriously though, I thought LEGALLY you can shoot any dog which is chasing a deer during hunting season. I would never do that because I think it is morally and ethically screwed up, but remember reading about it sewhere. -
I have only seen bucks this year... Not a darn doe yet
-
don't tease me with a good time.... I'll have to come with my crew one of these years and see what the woods really has when real hunters check it out ???? just kidding, but it really is on my to-do list next year for bow season.

I'd even add that personally I'd hit the grunt tube a couple times every 30 min. Especially if they bed not too far away. You might get some more action. I have good luck using the grunt tube in the earlier part of the season. Just my .02

I think many of you are over thinking the situation. If he takes it down and leaves a note, the person will get the idea he isn't welcomed and I'd think would call to get it back and issue is most likely solved. I know personally, recently I got permission from a landowner to hunt his property. Well come to find out he didn't own squat and what he told me was his was actually another guys and I lost a climber I left in a tree for a night. Never saw the owner but a buddy that got rights to hunt with me saw the owner talked to the guy and we never went back after finding out it wasn't actually owned by "originally said landowner". Wish the guy left a note so I could get the stand back, there were no posted signs and I thought I was in the clear.

Public land around this 7j, 7f area is hit hard by hunters as the ratio of public land to hunters isn't as good as it is in many other areas of the state. So bow season would be your best bet. I haven't given bear swamp or Cicero swamp or even 3 rivers a try before just because of the stories I hear of too many hunters there. Next year though I have some scouting to do there.

As arrow said... Don't wait. If you find new rubs. Hunt them ASAP. Deer will move on and change after some time as the rut swings from what I've read and experienced. If the rubs are fresh, get a stand where the wind is in your face overlooking that rub line, and hunt it hard.

The modern ACU digital camo? Or the afghan camo? The camo used overseas for the army is different from state side pattern. I am in the reserves so I have lots of ACU digital camo but never thought about using it because I find that it's more for looks rather than practical camo in the woods. I read a lot about camo with snipers and it's proven that you small spots of different colors around each other turn into one large blog of a color at a distance. With that all said though, I wouldn't mind using it in the early season when temps are high but all my stands are in pines or green trees.

I'll shoot ya an email

What he said... I'm huge into nutrition and lifting. when I'm eating clean, keeping cal intake around 2900, carbs at 300, protein at 250, and low fat and sugar. Sodium also is hard to keep down unless you cook everything your self and eat fresh food. I aim for 2500-3000mg of sodium. Either way, when eating clean, I am stuffed throughout the day. I start with a big breakfasts and eat every 2-3 hours a portioned meal usually brown rice and vegges and lean protein. I literally force myself to eat to obtain 2900 calories. It's amazing to see how low calorie food can be yet filling when you eat the right stuff.

Probably part of Cuomo's plan to ruin the state -

It's legal to shoot an dog which isn't properly chained up during deer season if you see it chasing a deer. Which I'm sure is the case if you saw a yote going past your stand -
I don't get to my stand too much before 30 min before legal sunrise, which is practically the time of what I consider actual sunrise. Probably one of my biggest mistakes, so with that being said, I hang any scent before climbing into the stand.

Best of luck!!! Like I just read from a big time deer hunter, hunt the sign while it is hot and don't wait. Too many people delay and by the time they get in there the buck has moved on to a new place to mark up. Worse case, bring in that ground seat and set up a burlap DIY blind

I grunted in a 5 pt yesterday. After if went past my stand, grunted again it stopped. Hit the bleat can and the thing nearly sprinted right at me.
-
best of luck! Hope you get a bruiser

Yesterday I used my climber and went till my pull rope was right which is 25ft. Normally higher than I go but the wind wasn't 100% in my advantage in this set

I've broadhead tuned my bow earlier in the year and locked in the rest and marked. It hasn't changed. I live in the suburbs of syracuse so my yard has only a couple trees but impossible to set up in. So tomorrow after I hunt in the AM ill practice in a tree on the land I hunt.

I got a chance to shoot for a bit today, My sight was shooting somehow way to the left (6 inches) at 20 yards and have it all fixed now. Planning on going out tomorrow if I can
