  1. irrelevant. No one is being injured by a person shooting a deer. End of discussion.
  2. Poaching is much more common than its made out to be. Do I support it? No. BUT would I call the DEC on my family for it? No. I stick to the rules, and hope others do too but the consequences are too serious that I wouldn't call in a close friend or family member. I think that's messed up to be the whistle blower.
  3. no problem, just save a couple deer in the woods for me after the weekend
  4. Welcome! Glad you like hunting so much already, if you go days or weeks not seeing a deer is when you start to second guess your love for the sport, just always remember you are out there to relax and enjoy yourself, not always will a deer be there to make it even better. Best of luck this season!
  5. Man I know your pain... I have to be in Albany for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the Army. I feel like I'm missing out on Christmas this year...
  6. I hunt both 7j and 7f and have more tags then possible doe in all my spots. Thankfully it found a new hot spot small public piece near me. Thursday is looking like both am and pm sits, only way I'll be able to fill a tag before opener.
  7. I've been trying to shoot a doe since day 1. I prefer eating meat, those laminated tags don't taste too good, and the rate I'm going with my bow, I might as well just give away my tags
  8. That's the worse feeling... Hopefully when they the hoes get feeling horney they start roaming the daylight hours. (Oops I meant does)
  9. Today was the perfect weather. Saw deer finally! Had a buck sneak in. I built a ground blind on state land 100 acre spot here where it's hammered with bow hunters and people walking dogs. Either way, I get to my blind and see a fresh scrape 20 yards down the deer trial. The buck was 8 yards from me, I had the bow up and but couldn't draw it back because it was so close and looking my way. It spooked away, too bad. I wanted to fill my tag today :/
  10. I've never personally gone, but I know a guy who hunts there and talks about monster deer there. I've seen online some bucks taken out of there with massive racks!
  11. I'll tell you what, this long bow season and all my frustrations has enforced the craving desire to be wielding a shotgun in the woods.
  12. I understand where you are coming from but honestly, I feel that you may be trying to over enforce rules here. I would be happy enough with permission and hunt and and stay out of the policing tactics. That's just me, it all depends if the land owner really wants people off his property, then it's a different story.

    7j

their website makes it look like a day camp and camo for team building exercises. Either way, I emailed them twice and also PM'd him and no response :/
  14. There is some hope still for my to find a public spot near me...
  15. Just because it is private doesn't mean it's less hunted... I know private land that sees more boots than public land.
  16. I'd be interested in the kayak. Can you on me the details and location?
  17. 7j and 7f public land is hard to hunt from what I've heard. I'm from syracuse and plan on doing some scouting next off season in the three rivers wmu.
  18. That sucks man, hate to hear about all the theft in the woods of recent.
  19. I hunt 7m public land and can tell you that it isn't pressured hard at all. Lots of land and not much hunting action if you go to the right spots. Never tried asking private permission as the state land always allows me to pull out some nice deer ever year
  20. I watched the video and thought it was a good idea. Yet to be honest, I think this whole deer hunting sport is being taken to a whole different level of seriousness. I don't foresee myself ever doing all these things because when do you call it quits? There is an endless list of potential "to-dos" for a perfect deer habitat. I'm content with putting in a stand after finding a good spot and hunting it, simple as that.
  21. I am never bored in the early day or late night, but when it gets slow, I'll text some people and check out some stuff online. Amazon and cabelas for maybe a new hunting accessory :X
