I jumped a buck out of an area last Thursday . I shot and missed while he slowed in the goldenrod. (Hit a small tree) he took off and figured that was it. Yesterday at 530 am I got a pic of him headed towards the same spot. So I got home and walked over there very slowly I got to the end and figured he wasn't there. Well he jumped about 10 feet from me and ran into the neighbors field lol. Obviously I couldn't shoot. Now, obviously I shouldn't have went over there and jumped him but I figured what are the chances hes there? Lol. I put a cam in the area he enters the thick stuff near the pines. My thinking is see when he goes in/out set up and shoot him while hes not alarmed. Am I missing something? Slim chances he returns again? Or just a toss up? Both times he was there on west south west winds. It's a cell cam so I dont have to go check it.

Welp I had something happen this afternoon that I'm not proud of lol. I put my dad in a stand (his first time hunting behind my house) and told him I'm gonna drop down to the trail through the field and end up opposite him. So I jump a slammer and a doe from a pine in the goldenrod, he is running straight to my dad. Like straight to him in his stand! Perfect! Well he does a 90 and come back towards me. I gather myself and put it on his shoulder and let it rip he turns and goes towards the woods slowing down a bit. Clean miss! Damn cant believe it shot felt great sns gun is dead balls. I must have pulled up in the excitement. BUT I'm glad to share some excitement with my dad, I told him it was a big deer and he couldn't get down fast enough to be by my side tracking and putting the puzzle together. Good times even though it's a miss.

Quite a weekend in ellicttville. I only saw doe which is a first for opener out here. My dad passed about 10 young bucks. I tracked a "miss" from an older hunter for him which resulted in a dead 8 point with literally zero blood. Hit was back in hind quarter didnt bleed at all and was dead 100 yards away. Extremely strange weekend with tons of doe being seen. We managed that 8, a small 6 and a doe. Doe tags are hard to come by for this zone.

So interesting end to the day. I watched that spike make a scrape about 80 yards out in between chase sessions. With 15 min in legal light I see another deer approaching the same area. He gets to the scrape and does his thing for a while, at this point I see hes big. Get the binos on him and immediately have my heart racing. The first sighting of the buck with sticker off the g2. I believe him to be a 12 or possibly a 13 point total. He was on the scrape for all 15 min of light! I had to wait it out and watch him stroll by around 520 at 30 yards. Yet another one I can say hell of a hunt! I have one bow hunt left on Thursday night just need to capitalize.

Did a full day sit today that wasnt planned. Solid action in the morning carried me into the afternoon so I figured why not. I probably saw 10 different bucks, couple shooters but none in range. Several doe as well. Really good hunt
