I bought a new CanAM in 2013, and when I was looking I told myself I didn't need power steering. Let me tell you, it's awesome! It has 3 different levels of power steering and you can turn the bars with one finger. I love the CanAm wheelers, no issues with mine. It's a 500 V twin, and I've never "needed" more power. I even put oversize tires, huge lugs and steel wheels on it and it'll still do anything I want it to. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Looks like old Stan has at least 4 over 200". I'm sure they aren't typical to Biz's point but... When you have access to multiple 200" deer it's certainly easier to kill multiple 200" deer. On a side note, I wonder which eye is Stan's dominant eye? Haha sorry Stan. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I thought it's because he cries Everytime he shoots a deer. I can't stand watching him, I don't know if his theatrics are real or not but annoying nonetheless to me. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

How do you like the 16.5' length? Have you fished 3 guys in it? Part of the reason I'm not going to an 19-20' is because I do a lot of my fishing mid week and am by myself a lot and don't need a huge boat for just me, but I'd like to be able to fish 3 guys comfortably when I need to. I hear you on that too. Being that I'm a bit anal about my toys I just fear that the little wear spots or stains or whatever that are normal would bug me on a new to me boat. I don't even put my lawnmower away without hosing it down after every use! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I don't hunt a specific deer per se. I do I guess but I'm not going to hold out exclusively for that deer. I'll run cameras all year and pick out the top 3 I'd like to kill and try to put myself on them, but if a roamer wanders into my arrow that looked good in the moment then that's great too. I had a couple picked out this year, then found myself sitting close to home on opening night on a piece I've hunted before but didn't scout or put any cameras in this year. It's really just a quick hunting spot. I saw 3 bucks that night and tagged the biggest. Wasn't even exactly sure what he was, saw a nice frame and decent length points so I let one fly. I'm not one to walk past a $20 bill and hope I find a $50. Not yet anyways. If I think it's 3.5+ then I'm probably shooting. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

My buddy is out quite a bit and puts about 90hrs on a year. The boat I researched previously (4 yrs old, 800 hrs) I'm going to guess that alot of trolling was done with it. But to me it's not just motor hrs, but that'll tell you how much time the person spent in the boat too. So I'd assume the interior isn't like new either after 800hrs of use. I plan on putting a lot of hrs on myself so I'd like them to be low or 0. The above boat has some great fishing features for sure. I just struggle with spending $20k on a 10yr old boat when I could spend another $10k and get one close to new? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Sent a message to setup a viewing for a 2021Starweld Flex 17' dual console. It's a factory demo, still has full hull and motor warranty. Looks to be roughly $5k off normal price. I love the rear flip up seat concept, bow cushions which the wife will love, decent graph to get started with, taller than normal windshields. I'm going to make sure the Yamaha V Max on this boat is also a 2021 and ask them to pull the hours on it. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I probably should've mentioned it in the first post, I'm not new to boats at all. I've been fishing out of boats since I was old enough to and am still out of buddies/parents boats. I've spent a lot of time on bass boats the last few years and while they're great at what they do, they're way too one dimensional for me. Now I was contemplating the Nitro ZV18 line (fiberglass walleye boat) but in order to get the price where I wanted it I'd have to look at a 5-6 year old boat and I'm the type that is pretty meticulous about care and storage so I'd kind of like a new/like new model so I can keep it looking brand new for years. I'd love a 20' boat but since it's probably going to be just me fishing 70% of the time I don't want something that is much larger than is needed. It also becomes more to trailer, park, dock etc. And I can pick my days on the Big O so it's not like I need a big water boat per se. There are some really attractive prices on the Starcraft 16-17' models with a 90hp but I'm going to have to go sit in them with the wife and see what kind of room we're looking at. I'm just not sure how cramped it would be out trolling with 3 guys in a 16.5' boat. I'm also looking ahead and don't want to blow my self imposed budget way out of the water either because I plan on purchasing some high end graphs and imaging units also which will probably run me $3k on top of the boat. Down riggers will probably wait a year. Another thing I'm noticing on some of the models is that mounting rod holders doesn't look as easy as it sounds. Some boats have storage doors running the gunwales, thin strips of aluminum etc. I really don't want to have to be modifying too much just to get holders mounted either. I like the idea of the track systems so I can remove/add accessories on the fly. There are almost too many makes and models to compare. I haven't ruled out the Tracker V175 combo yet either. I know some people swear that they are garbage, but I my mind there are so many of them out there that you're going to run into issues the more you sell, it's math. If you look around online you will find a lot of guys swear that lund quality has dropped way off in recent years so... Who knows for sure. That is the reason I would prefer that whatever dealer I buy from is within an hour of my house so need be I can get there without too much trouble. I'm also researching dealer reviews, Krenzer Marine in Sodus looks to have great feedback and they sell what I'm looking for. In fact, Krenzer has a used Starweld 17 in exactly what I'm looking for right now but I had them pull the motor hours and it has 800hrs in a 4yr old boat. That seems quite high to me. I don't feel comfortable spending $24k on a USED boat. Fremac Marine also gets some decent feedback and isn't too far. Another really awesome looking rog is the G3 Sportsman 200. If you aren't familiar with them look one up. They are a semi V, 20' boat, full windshield, 150-200hp on the back and a dance floor of room. They run about $60k new, I found one in Clayton, a 2015 with a 150hp for $30k. As cool as they are I have a hard time dropping that much on a 5 year old boat. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

If I can't find what I want and what I want to pay in Starcraft I'm probably going to go price out some Crestliners also. I go to the boat show every year and really like the Crestliner Fishhawks also. I'm not even opposed to a Tracker either. My father has a Tracker Targa that has treated him well. I can find a setup that I like in just about any manufacturer, it just comes down to price. Lunds are quality boats but I don't think they're all that they are cracked up to be though, especially for another $6-8k. For $35-40k they don't event put guides on their trailers. I'd love to find a like new used boat a couple of years old for a good price. Fremac Marine has a Starcraft factory demo right now for about $5-6k less than sticker but paying $30k for a boat without a trolling motor seems crazy too. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Yea I'm only interested in a remote trolling motor with spot lock. It's super convenient. Boats get ridiculously expensive and quick. I don't really want a big payment but I also don't want to regret not getting a bit more boat in a year either. I plan on keeping it for a number of years so I want to do it right the first time. I was seriously considering going that route too but the wife likes the idea of the windshield and I do too. It'll be nice in the cold/rain or buggy nights on the lake. But for room to fish you can't beat a tiller! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I was looking into Smokercrafts too but the nearest dealer is like 120 miles away which is a long ride if any issues come up... I'm leaning toward Starcraft currently, the Fusion and Victory models look really good. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

So, by Spring I'm going to be purchasing a deep V fishing boat. I'm looking preferably for something in the 17-18' range, at least a 90hp, preferably a 115hp. Full, split windshield is a must. Easy spot to mount downriggers/rod holders. Possibly mounting a kicker in the future. I'm willing to spend up to $30-34k. Anyone have good or bad experience with certain brands? Im looking pretty heavily at Starcraft boats. I like the setup pretty well, seems like a good bang for my buck? Hard to find many online reviews though. I also take reviews lightly because some guys are never happy and you're 10X more likely to leave a bad review than a good one. I also know several people with Trackers that are pretty happy with them which also seem like you get a good boat for a good price. I'll mention that this boat will mostly be for Oneida lake, occasionally Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. I'd also like to be comfortable with 3 fisherman or 4 people just out for a cruise. I know a lot of you guys have fishing boats so I'm looking for opinions. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

Typical schmichical. I don't care about symmetry, actually prefer a freak rack (except in the woman world). I know what you're saying and I don't disagree. That would certainly be worth more than what I'm referring to. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

What were they offering? Why did they want it? For a mount to display? I don't need to know how much they were offering but some details would be interesting. Friend? Relative? Stranger? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'm still willing to bet that the amount a scent/call/gear company would pay you would be next to nothing. They want people who will consistently use those products and consistently can post their pics with success. It's name recognition for them, the more people that know your name the more they pay. You think they'd pay some schmuck like me from Baldwinsville, NY a real sum of money for killing a big deer? I don't. Would you get a free box of deer scent? Probably. Are they going to pay you $2,000+ for your picture? I don't think so. I really don't care either way, just arguing a point. My deer aren't big enough for me to ever find out and I'm just fine with that. I don't hunt to be in the spotlight. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I still don't think it's what you're imagining. So you killed a 200" buck, who's going to pay you? A knockoff grunt call company ran out of a garage? I'm sure Primos isn't going to care about you. There's "professional hunters" on tv that have several 200" deer taken with bows? It's not like it was in the 80's. These deer are essentially farmed now in a lot of states, QDM participation has never been higher, deer are plentiful. Seemingly everything is televised, hunts have never been filmed more than now. You used to have to buy hunting vhs tapes to see big buck hunts, now I can watch 500 hrs of them on youtube for free anytime I want. I can see if you killed a buck that was truly a once in a century creature, but but anything up to that doesn't really add up to much. You'll be neighborhood and Instagram famous for a week then you're forgotten. Hell, a guy killed a 33pt freak of a buck 2 miles from my house a few years ago, the pic got spread around for a bit, then nothing. I guess if a forum member ever kills one we'll find out. But in my opinion, some of you are holding big racks in higher regard than most of the world cares about. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'm saying...... If you were to kill a 180" buck here in NY, do you think you'd be "famous." Define "fame." Do you think someone would compensate you monetarily? Who? Why? You guys are acting like big deer are as rare as Sasquatch. They aren't. In a market that is inundated with big deer, the compensation is getting smaller. Hunting shows are different, you're paying to be entertained, same as a sports broadcast. "Your" deer is cool to look at but it's worth nothing monetarily to me? Will you make it into the sports section of the post standard? Probably. But who else is going to care? You think a major hunting publication is going to beat down your door for it? No way. I'm not trying to detract from anyone's trophies, but deer antlers aren't made of gold and they grow back every year. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I'm talking top 10 in a state per year, not national rankings, but I bet there's a few high ranking national bucks killed every year that don't see the books too. There's not as much money as you think either. I'm not so sure there's as much "fame" anymore either, with so many bucks being killed in the Midwest states that are over 160". I don't consider anyone who kills a big buck famous, they killed a giant deer, it's cool but not fame worthy to me. It's certainly easier in some areas than others but you didn't invent the lightbulb, you killed a deer. Anyone can catch a 35" walleye too, now if you routinely kill huge deer that everyone has access too I'd consider you a great hunter, but not famous. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I was going to get one officially scored but still haven't gotten around to it and probably won't now as it's being mounted. I like to know the score only to justify the size. My personal goal is to get a 140"+ in NY with a bow preferably. When someone tells me they shot a big 8pt, well what is big is relative. Now if you had it scored (by someone who actually knows what they're doing or officially) and tell me it was 130" now I know it truly was big. I also hate net scores, nature isn't perfect, penalizing it is stupid. My largest measured deer (by the taxidermist) went 134" and change. I don't see myself entering into any record keeping books, now or in the future as it's only a diary it seems, there's so many bucks killed every year that are never entered therefore saying your animal was "top 10" this or that is false information. But to each their own. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
