  1. Not a better deer cartridge out there than the 25-06. If I only had one caliber for everything that'd be it! Congrats! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  2. I hate seeing stands all over public land. People feel the need to "claim" their spots by throwing stands up all over then get pissy when you take a climber up near one, like somehow their stand claims the area. Or you get in to a spot 45 minutes before light only to have Cletus and Jethro come walking in 20 minutes after light and climb up their 8' ladder stands 75 yds away and refusing to move because "my stand is here." That turns my rage on big time. If you get best to a spot, you go find another, that's woods etiquette, which is harder and harder to find. I hunted public land my whole life until 2 years ago when I got into a lease. People on public can be outrageously stupid, especially gun hunters. Had a guy once give us some mouth because we made 3 trips past his ladder stand (which was on the access rd, 70yds from the parking area) lugging deer up and down the hill on the deer cart opening day while he watched. 3. Looks like we have twin 6 points! Except my buddy killed this one last week, you aren't hunting in 8F are you? Haha Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  4. I hate short bows. I don't shoot them as well and I've never once noticed 3" extra of ATA length. I also like heavier bows. When my buddies pick my bow up they always comment on the weight of it. I run two stab bars, one out front and one out back. I'm only holding it on the walk in/out and when Im shooting a deer but that extra weight/length helps with stability. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  5. I agree with above, he's most likely dead. That makes it even tougher to swallow. I watch alot of deer tracking dogs online and it's crazy how far deer can go on great hits sometimes. It could be as simple as he just went 500 yds before bedding versus the typical 150yds. Tough critters sometimes. With any luck the hit wasn't what you think and you'll see him again in the near future. Do you have pics of the buck on trail cam so as to recognize him in the future? 6. Just got back from both properties putting new batteries in cell cams and pulled a few cards. Spotted a 2yr old 8 bedded with a doe, when I eventually bumped them off easy there were 3-4 more bedded that I couldn't see. I made my rounds then decided to still hunt back through there real slow with the bow and about had a 3pt walk over me in the tall grass. He walked by at about 20ft and never even saw me. Pretty cool getting that close on the ground, I needed a doe to do that though. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  7. No kidding! Maybe I'll get the opportunity to shoot something cool with my camera instead this year. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  8. This will be my first opening day not hunting, and I'm not happy about it. Secretly hoping flights get cancelled to visit the wife's family in NM. But... I had hoped to get my new 6.8SPC AR build out in the woods. Guess it'll have to wait until the second weekend now... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  9. A few from this morning. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  10. @Cabin Fever Sweet buck and that doe looks huge too, her chest looks bigger than the bucks! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  11. Another vote for the Apex Covert Pro. I've used mine for 3-4 years now and love it. I leave mine set at 25 yds and hold high or low if I don't have time to adjust. Battery lasts forever, no pin post to block any of the sight picture. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  12. Hunting some public today looking for a doe, had 2 bucks at 15 yds and a coyote at 60 so far. They seem to be cruising pretty good here. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  13. I figured it was too soon haha Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  14. They deployed because the hair and overall width of the cut was proper sized. The smaller slit is what's left open after healing. The arrow didn't exit. Must of hit some backbone or something. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  15. Heres the Rage hole almost healed over. He hit her in the 4" of meat above the spine. [emoji16] Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  16. Buddy shot a doe tonight only to find out it was the same doe he hit high 2 weeks ago, the Rage hole was almost closed up surprisingly. Pretty wild. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  17. I'm a big fan of pedestal mounts also. I have a wall pedestal and a floor pedestal getting finished shortly! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  18. Every creature behaves differently on different barometric pressures. Animals are just way more in tune with it than us. It's part of their survival, they need the heads up with approaching fronts. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  19. The ONLY positive is it won't do them any good. Just report it as stolen in the app and spypoint locks it so it can't be activated. I have a lock box for one of my cell cams and I wrote right in the steel box to not bother stealing it, as I already have their picture and I'll lock it anyways. Will it work? Who knows, but hopefully. Or print a picture of them and tack it to the tree or trees around (in a baggy) and leave a nice little note. Hopefully they just messed with it and left it there though... 20. Rodney Dangerfield lives! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  21. Steelhead aren't much better right now! Ask me how I know! Damn water is so low everywhere, couple that with 80 degree temps and bright sun and it sucks! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  22. I think where you guys are having a disconnect is in determining what you consider the spine. There is only one spine and yes there is several inches of meat (backstraps) above the actual spine. If you consider the "fins" that come upward off of the spine as THE spine then that's why you are arguing there isn't meat above. You can absolutely pass an arrow through the backstraps, above the spine and not drop the deer. I've done it. As for the "dead zone" I'll let you guys have that one. Every situation is different, every angle is different and I think it can and does happen. I've seen deer on youtube with an entire broadhead in a lung, covered in hard mast type stuff. That deer lived with a broadhead IN it's lung. There are rules, and there are exceptions. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  23. We knew you'd pull through! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  24. He's not interested in "you or your peoples help" but came into a public forum to ask for assistance. Complains about a "lack of assistance" but when he gets assistance he tells you to essentially mind your own business. Leaves half of the meat behind in the woods. Haha you are a real gem sir, what a fine example of sportsmanship you are. @Gobbler Chaser Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
