  1. Yea it is, almost like a Sika deer or something, I've seen a handful from the tree and shot two like this. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  2. I dug up one video and took a still, I took this last year and posted it below, I thought I quoted your post but it didn't work I guess... I can probably get better pics from the video too if you want Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. Here's a still of a video I took last season of a 1.5yr old buck from the stand, you can clearly see spots down it's whole back. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. I doubt I have seen hundreds of 1.5yr old but I can recall at least 5 times I've personally seen it. I've shot a doe and a buck before, both 1.5, both had spots. You wouldn't even notice them unless they're right under you or you kill them, they're faint. If I think of it later I'll try to dig up a pic or 2 for you. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  5. This isn't too uncommon with 1.5yr old deer, I've seen it many times, I got video of a 1.5yr old buck just last year at 5 yds with the dots along the spine, I'm not sure that it's an indicator of being born late. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. I think we need two seventy's opinion on whether this feels "squatchy." Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. Something doesn't make sense, why would someone shoot 20 deer, go through the work of dragging the deer out and hauling them somewhere else where they're going to be discovered?? Be interesting to find out what's really going on. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. There's definitely a few ways of looking at it and I get where you are coming from... But on a basic level, why are the deer coming to either? To eat. Does it make a difference to them if it's under an apple tree? Nope. And people assume that a bait pile makes deer unwary or lose their sense of survival, not true at all. Let's say behind your house is a block of woods, the deer come out into your neighbors back lawn to eat out of the bird feeder at night, you know this so you intercept them on their way to the feeder, back in the woods mind you. Did you hunt bait? Not technically speaking, no. But is it really so much different than hunting over a bird seed pile? It's a tough line to draw is all I'm saying. Now programmable feeders are a different topic altogether in my book... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  9. Mine is a manual shooter, I do have the adapters for the grinder but if I'm doing them by myself it's easier to manage the shooter for me personally Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. Good I'm glad you liked it! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. Depending on what size casings you buy and what diameter nozzle you use it can be, with my setup currently I can only stuff about 10" of casing at a time but it's fine with me. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. And so these are the days of our lives... Episode 543, The Chronicles of Grow... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. I don't see much of a difference at all personally. Yes you can say that plots are typically larger and not so spot specific but let's not pretend you can't pretty easily figure out where the deer typically enter and feed in the plots. Like has already been said, people plant plots to kill deer, simply put. I know quite a few guys that plant plots and none that haven't shot a deer in one of them... If they weren't effective noone would be spending their time and money doing them. I don't honestly care if you pile your corn or plant it and neither does the deer, they're coming for one reason. It is kind of funny to me that some people scoff at someone who shoots a deer over a pile of apples but praises the next guy who shot one under an apple tree covered in apples. It comes down to the same argument as bow vs crossbow, no winning or right answer. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. Gorgeous bucks, where do I find the camp join application?? Haha Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  15. I've also seen leg hit deer bleed like crazy but they can go a long ways and live for days, those are not fun track jobs. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  16. I've seen brisket hit deer act this way too. They bleed a bunch but it's not real quickly fatal, it's odd that it bedded so quick though if it was brisket, could just be a low shot, it's really difficult to tell where a deer was hit by just the blood trail. I bet if we all put in guesses in most of these type of trails 90% of us would be wrong, there's a lot of places to put a bullet in a deer and from experience a lot of times it's not where you would assume it was. I do agree though, if the deer bedded that soon and you look to have quite a bit of blood, letting that deer bed up for a few hours it would probably not be too difficult to get back on, blood loss will make it too weak to get away very fast if it's still alive after a few hours. Deer are amazingly tough, I've tracked deer with blood like that and I'd have put money on we would find it within 150 yds... 1 mile later and it's still going. Good luck man, I'd definitely get back out there, I would assume that's a dead deer just from the details you provided. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. If anyone on this site is going to run into Bigfoot it's going to be Growalot... Just saying... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. That's basically what I said, at our short shots typical in NY most bullets will work fine, but it does not mean they are expanding as they were designed to. Unless you find the round you don't really know what that projectile looks like or how it expanded. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  19. That's actually false, bullets are designed to perform in a certain FPS range, too low FPS and you won't get the proper expansion, too high FPS and either can happen, extreme/violent expansion or none at all. A lot has to do with what the bullet encounters also. Most instances in our "short range" woods Hunting most projectiles will work just fine. The "hole" the bullet leaves isn't always an indicator of the bullet expansion. Most bullets will not expand at 10yds like they do 100. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  20. Bottom picture, very bottom one. I think the breakup of the dark and light looks cool! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. That's a gorgeous cat, I hope we see more of them around in the future (some people probably hate that idea). Out of 18+/- years of running trailcams I've got exactly 1 bobcat picture. I'd love a bobcat mount, but I'm not sure I'd shoot one when I did see it haha, only one way to find out I guess. Awesome cat and congrats! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  22. I use 4lbs ground venison, 1 lb pork (any kind of pork will work, even fatty beef will work), 3 jalapenos diced (remove most seeds unless you want real hot). A bag of shredded or small cubed cheese (any flavor you want). Then I buy a package of LEM snack stick seasoning (which does 5lbs). Just grind everything and mix it well, following the package instructions. I use 19mm collagen casings and fill them with a jerky shooter, then just put them on a baking sheet in the oven at 200° and let them cook until the internal temp hits 165°, you just want to slowly bring the temp to 165° so don't try to cook them too fast. It's even better if you have a smoker to cook them in. That's it! Pretty easy, you can tweak the recipe any way you like. Good luck Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  23. Yea I'll do that now, no problem. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
