  1. I was always surprised how many deer we would call in predator hunting, the calls seem to make them awful curious. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  2. I've got the shed hunting itch bad, I hate having to decide between ice fishing, steelhead fishing and shed hunting, it's not often that there's favorable conditions for all three in January! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. I have the same exact camcorder and it does great for hunts, great zoom, good audio and good lowlight capabilities. It was rated the best camcorders under $500 a few years ago when I got mine. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. I agree, .029 pins are huge, precision doesn't come from large aiming points. I use 19's for hunting but precision work is done with 10's. I think 19's are about as good as you can get for hunting, sometimes 10's can disappear on me in the woods in hunting conditions. I use the Apex Covert Pro for hunting, it works awesome for me. 5. It was nippy out today! But the sun and no wind was nice, I'll take frozen fingers for a good day on the ice! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. I haven't caught a white perch through the ice in years, I typically don't keep them, they taste ok but their no walleye! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. Took a couple of newbies out on Oneida today and we put a clinic on walleyes. I myself brought 12 legal Eyes to hand and dropped 3 at the hole including what would have been my personal best Oneida Eye. These are the ice days I live for! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. No Saugers in Oneida Lake, it was a grind today to stay on fish but I love ice fishing and it's a short season so gotta keep plugging away! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  9. A Yukon Moose hunt with Jim Shockey would be my top hunt. Awesome land, awesome animal and an great guy. If I only had $25k to burn... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. It is amazing how big these perch get, my buddies from Michigan almost had a stroke the first time they pulled up a 12"+ perch. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. A few more from this morning. Bunch of short eyes first thing, got one keeper eye and dumped another at the hole. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. 40' is where we found them today but they like to move around a lot on these big flats Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. Found a few on Oneida Lake today. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. I'm holding out for a different caliber for now, although the 9 would be fun it doesn't really fill a niche for me. I want it in 44mag/10MM, even a 357 might be pretty cool. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  15. I practically live on ice when not working in the winter, you guys don't know what you're missing! If you're smart about it there isn't much danger at all, use your head, pay attention and you'll be fine. I love all fishing but ice fishing may just be my favorite. Nothing like pulling jumbo perch and eyes through a hole. I will say if you aren't fully outfitted it can be less amusing. But I sit in 1 of my 2 shanties, with a grill, heater, 4 stroke gas auger, underwater camera, vexilar, warm, fat and happy. And I pull it out with my wheeler so I don't even break a sweat. 16. You just cost me $20... Thanks for the heads up! Gonna be great for steelhead fishing. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. Has anyone mentioned "Legends of the fall" yet? Awesome movie if you haven't seen it. A few other of my favorites would have to be: -Donnie Brasco -Gladiator -Pulp Fiction -Lord of War -The Green Mile -Enemy at the Gates -Seven Psychopaths Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. You're entitled to that opinion. But I for one am not a big fan of making knee-jerk laws on the coat tails of tragedy. As stated before, do you think any of these "accidents" would've played out any different if the law was different? Nope. They wouldn't. If it makes you feel better to think it would've then so be it. You're putting blame on the wrong thing, it's on the person that pulled the trigger, not their watch. 19. The point is... We can bring up just as many incidents that happen in broad daylight. If your going to be an idiot and shoot at things you haven't identified then how light it was is irrelevant. There is no law that's going to stop idiots from being idiots. As mentioned before, there are many states with different hunting times, I don't hear of them mowing each other down because they're all out there twiddling their thumbs waiting to shoot at a silhouette in the last half hour. Let's be honest here, if you ever pull the trigger on something you haven't fully identified then you shouldn't have a weapon at all, I don't care what time of day it is. 20. I've killed deer before and after "legal" times as I'm sure everyone else on this site has. As long as it's not an "extreme" deviation from start/stop times I don't see an issue. We're all responsible for our own actions, some people just prefer to take the holier than thou approach, I'd be willing to bet most hunting accidents happen in between the legal times. Have you ever hunted in a snowstorm? How about a dark rainy day? Let's say the legal time is 5:44AM, it happens to be a shitty, rainy, dark morning when it takes forever to get light, its 5:44AM, is it ok to shoot then? It's up to the hunter to determine when he/she is pushing limits. Let's not forget people have different eyesight either. I have damn good eyesight, others not so much. Have any of you ever sped in a vehicle? It's the same thing, we all take risks, it's up to you to justify. Any of you duck hunt? You've probably jerked the fun switch before or after legal times too. 21. Is it my bad memory or.... Oh yea nope it wasn't, it happened. I remember just a few months ago of someone very involved in this thread about obeying game laws and morals/ethics posting pictures of coyotes that were "struck by lightning" in the middle of the summer? If you can't ride your high horse 100% of the time then stay off of it. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  22. I'd sooner think people chasing them around for 3 months shooting at them does more harm to stress levels and fat reserves than coyotes do. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  23. I did a board hunt years ago in northern NY, 8 of us went, we all killed boars, was it a hunt? No, not really. It was a 75 acre enclosure and there were elk, Rams, boars, sheep etc in there, like a giant petting zoo really. I actually had to convince myself to shoot one, it just did nothing for me, I feel better about it if I look at it as I went to the grocery store and killed my own pig. I will say that the meat was delicious though. Is the skull displayed as a trophy with my others? Nope. Not even sure I still have it. It was nothing like my expectations thought it might be, and I'll likely never do anything like that again. I paid to pick out a pig and kill it for the meat, not real exciting that's for sure. 24. Steelhead can be very humbling but today I won (in my eyes), I'm usually happy to have a couple of hookups, being that this is only my 4th time steelhead fishing I'm very happy! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  25. Another great day on the Salmon River, managed to go 3/6 on steelhead with my new centerpin rod/reel! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
