There's a reason why smart bucks get old. Nice pics.
-
You need a leafy suit. They are must-haves for October imo.
-
Best advice on this entire thread.
-
Insane! I'd jump for joy with that time off!
-
Long term shift to cool weather supposed to be here mid week next week. Might be done with the 70s finally.
-
Mine wasn't all that much esp. if you shop around. Keeps me powered.

New growth is perfect bedding. 400-600 yds is a long ways imo. That's plenty far - way over the 500ft rule. Other than that access through thr creek water and set up a blind or something. A tree should never stop you from success, unless your arrow hits it.

Mophie pack. Saweeeet.

Pics? Congrats! Good to see you took advantage of the hot sign!

Ouch. Had nerve issues when I ruptured my l2 l3 disc. Unreal how painful nerve damage can be. Get better.

I met Grow this summer. Nice lady. I'd hunt with her any time, she'd be a riot.

Not at all. We actually agree on about 50% of stuff. It's the other 50% he's wrong about, lol.

You an Culver going to be posting about another shooting session tomorrow? You walked right into it.
-
Either you hit the odds and should play the lottery, or you have: A. a buck comfortable in his territory and hasn't yet picked your stink up B. an overly aggressive buck Most bucks like that won't make themselves vulnerable in daylight on a scrape until later in the season. I'd be looking at why he's doing that. Is it a low spot where he can't easily be seen? Is it a new buck this year that's moved into the area? The fact he signposted at your calls tells me he's there for the taking. Did he approach the scrape with a j-hook or did he run right to it wind at back or nose? That would lead me to believe how he would approach it the next time possibly.

You'll have to ask Belo on that one...I ain't checking!
-
I know I come off brash and confident in my tactics, but I don't think anyone, including me and Belo, on this site, thinks of themselves this way. It's pretty rare to have on a site like this with this many members. Everyone here in large is willing to at least learn as much as they preach. They bring their POV, but they're willing to hear other sides.

And that little room can make all the difference, so it was worth it. I hunt one parcel about 25 acres and if I had another 40-60 feet of property along one line, I'd have shot some huge bucks there. It's a good pipece now, but that extra small area would make it state-class property.

LOL, you are so up-tight. Relax a bit and try not to play devil's advocate so much.

Earlier this year, there was a pretty big thread on getting or obtaining permission. In it, there was a fair amount of discussion of how to go about doing it. Some people knock on doors, some call, some write. Some do all three at one point or another - and that's the best approach imo. A case in point, I got a call last night about a letter I wrote and sent in the summer of 2012. 2012! The gentleman is going to grant me permission now on his farm. It's not the first time a letter has resulted in permission a long ways down the road, I've had some as far back a 6-8 mos., but this is the latest. I think the thing to take out of this is to have something physical to leave behind, whether in-person or via letter. Printing out some short business card size "resumes" or contact info could go a long way after the knock on the door. Don't give up, if you aren't finding the places to hunt.

I'm pleased with the response I got. Officer called me, dialed up the property map, and I told him I could send him an aerial of where it is. He got it, went out the first thing opening morning, and tried to pinch the guy. He was not in his stand, but he came across a few others hunting the line and cleared the area for 10 days while the bait is consumed. He knows word will get out, so a second attempt won't happen for a while. Officer took my complaint, followed up, and did what he could. Overall a plesant experience.

He's hunting out of a stand with his or his dad's name on it. You decide.

Do you talk like Charlie Brown's teacher? Cause that's all I'm hearin'. Look, you are on an internet forum. People jumped on him because he was stupid and doing something wrong, and they let him have it. I am dealing with a baiter on the property line of one parcel I hunt. Even so much as the DEC officer going out there opening morning to try and catch the guy. I'll tell you - if you are dealing with a baiter on or next to your property - it'll tick you off and YOU WILL change your tune. Is it the worst thing in the world? No. Still relevant? Yes.
