Alot of work in Ohio. My goal for all of 2012 season was to tag a mature buckin bow (done) and get my fil his FIRST DEER in 40 years....last morning he had some light chasing amd saw 6 deer. He missed a 6 that jumped the string by inches taking a tuft of hair with the bolt. A doe stopped by 5 min later and he double lunged her at 20 yds. Talk about excited.

I love how, in this dog-eat-dog world of NY deer hunting, where people tightly monitor property lines and access is at a premium, where food plots are made to pull deer in, that at the same time they worry about button bucks that have practically NOTHING TO DO WITH BUCKS BEING ON THEIR GROUND. People....buttons will be your neighbors bucks for the most part. Walking contradiction.

Yada yada yada. Online forum. Get over it.

I got a washer and dryer for hunting stuff. Hunting towels, wash clothes, all seperate.

Lol at this whole thread. This may be up there with the best worst thread ever on this site. Lets ignore everything but the chasing from here on out. I guess i should too, that way my bow season isnt three hours long next year. What was i thinking.
-
Edit, nm the new bow comment. Missed your response.

Not for nothing, but you have my sympathy. I only hope i can be doing what you are 69. Any chance at dropping down to a lower poundage bow?
-
Isnt that before legal time? Lol.

Thats quite a view. Personally, i find your definition of the "rut" to be the time when hunters need to get lucky. Anyone can plop into a funnel. The earlier part of the phase you discredit is great for killing a mature buck, as is the back end of it. Tossing out those times is just plain ignorance imo. But o do understand your frustration. Hard to swallow when you rely on one short time period to be successful.

I passed a button today. Along with his mama. Wow was she big too. I was hoping theyd get to my fil but no dice. He saw one of them at about 50 yds. Buttons here weigh as much as a 1.5 buck at home.

Settled in an ohio treestand. Winds not been kind this week for the property. Only had three days on it but owner let us know we can hunt it all week now. One good buck seen in three days but i had him pegged and he lives due to a miscommunication by a guy who hunted that day too. I had to watch the buck walk past my set....20 yards...while i resigned back to my blind 100 yd across a pond. In a pinch now with a creek on ne, corn bordering it and behind me. Thicket to s and e. Time to hunt.

What change is coming from dec? Ar? In 9? Lol.

Belo, you even specifically mentioned QDM in the bb thread...so the bb can grow into 6 and 8 to improve genetics. See where im coming from? Im glad you are happy with you kill. Just dont preach that people cant kill bb. 1.5 are just as dumb mentally.

How did i miss this gem of a thread. Good thing im in a stand. Sheesh. No culling of wild bucks please. Lol.
-
Love those that come here and talk the talk but dont walk. I know being busy too, but some people have a problem with eating tags. Gotta get my buck...gotta get my buck. And im all for those who want to shoot any deer. I just dont care for both sides of the mouth talking.
-
You shot a 1.5? Tsk tsk.
-
Hea getting winded. 8 blows....lol.
-
Just saw a wall of tines. Shakes! He was headed to other guy but veerrd. I think he winded him.
-
I gotta figure how to post phone pics on mobile site.
-
The guy grunts like a dying duck too. Loverly.

Each of us saw a single doe this am. Scouted after that and scrapes are fired up. Owner has a guy hunting today cause he owed him a favor. Kinda screwed me as i laid a scent drag right to him. Guy moved into my spot when we went to truck for lunch and game plan. Bummer. In a blind now overlooking a pinch along a pond.

In ohio. Property has corn around it instead of beans. Excited for that as this property will have a ton of travel. Nowhere to glass from vehicle but we spied some rubs from the road. Ill be sitting with my fil in the blind for the a.m. just to get started and then ill power scout it. Only got three hunting days on this place before moving to the other farm which is bigger but not exclusove and not as good overall. Couldnt fit the deke in the truck load and really bummed about it here. This place is a decoying dream spot.

I'm sure he would have liked to arrow it...with another year of age on him. He's not shooting a 3.5 in most cases, I suspect.
