Hey, if you want to think that rifles used in a literal term doesn't apply universally to an anti-gunner, I don't know what to tell you. He isn't anti semi-auto rifle....he is anti-gun. (emphasis on the gun, part)......
-
SEMI AUTO SHOTGUNS ARE SEMI AUTO TOO....Chernin calls for a semi auto ban, guy....not just scary black rifles, semi auto! Apparently you've never let a Benelli bark at some geese or ducks, or a Remington 1100 on a buck. To say a ban on semi auto doesn't impact hunters is such a disconnect it's mind boggling. Why are deer drives less common? Shrinking property size and access....not because of your view on ethics. That's for dang sure. Also because of the evolution of going after mature deer being more paramount, along with hunter density...cough cough, meateater is against hunter recruitment, too. Barf.

China's ruling is the bigger factor IMO. Longshot, but could they be outlawing it in prep to release the first gov't backed or regulated digital currency?

My gerber paraframe mini has been in my pocket pretty consistent now that I haven't flown much - similar to others here, when I fly for work often I don't use an EDC because invariably it'll get in a bag or a pants pocket unknowingly. I lost a few mini leathermans that way early on in the post 9/11 world and that made me paranoid about losing something of value. I like the paraframe but the blade is pretty weak for it's small size even. I have a pretty bag gouge about 1/8 to 1/4" from the tip. I'm sure I can get her slicked down, but it didn't get that much abuse to warrant the "damage." IMO. I have Benchmade Mini Bugout coming that I am excited for, but nervous to EDC...lol. Even though I bought it to EDC. Using a $150 retail EDC is way above my comfort level. I'm hoping I pay attention to it more as a result. Sort of like buying expensive sunglasses and not losing them or being wreckless.

I'm curious too - it might be painful, but this could be a real long-term play to consider. Wonder if it's going to be a similar downturn from prior years. Although, the China ruling is concerning.

Shoo, fly.

The only way businesses that stick to masking will continue to do so is consumer demand. This is definitely a case of spending money wisely. My friend got the third degree from a 16 yo girl at Tom Wahls this weekend. He was unintentional about having the mask below his nose, too. She let him have it too...no kind warning. Sir...put the mask up over your nose or I'll need you to leave. Place was packed to the hilt....everyone else masked up. This only reinforces their decision IMO. I respect businesses rights and protections, but the consumer also has input, too. With their money.

He is referencing the Illuminati on the dollar bills. Clearly.

Shooting running deer is a skillset. No different than long-range shooting as noted IMO, or even shooting at high angle, close shots with a bow. Tell me you haven't shot at rolling tires down a hill without telling me you haven't shot at rolling tires down a hill. It doesn't mean you shoot at all running deer - decision making still applies, but if you won't shoot at a running deer in the self-assessed right/safe circumstances, I don't know what to say there. That mindset and skill-aspiration was instilled in me from day 1 of deer hunting. That is a mighty high horse to look down on to say shooting at all running deer is unethical.

Unfortunately I have gone through this several times. One of the things I've learned is that when you realize it's time, it's time. Do not let your personal attachment get beyond reasonability in knowing when is enough. Because if you do, it'll be painful for both you and the dog. Usually suffering ramps up fast and you don't want to do that to the old pup. Due to different ailments coming to a head at the same time, I had to put down two of my dogs on my birthday a few years ago, and my third dog a few months later. It is a difficult experience to endure. Do me a favor and cook that boy up a steak for me; I owe him and share that story anytime that buck comes up. I'll shoot you over some Paypal $.

I know there are many thoughts that having the vaccine still means you can pass it. I'm starting to see the same group of people pushing the vaccines and also CDC start to believe that while mathematically it is possible to get Covid, the likelihood of transmissibility from a vaccinated person is pretty low due to reduced viral load. Some of the studies that the CDC used to make the no mask ruling is what is driving that. Again, not zero, but I'm hearing people who previously said that it could be spread materially or possibly materially if you were vaccinated, now saying that evidence is starting to confirm it is not to the level that requires masking. Just noting what I see. The vaccine card use in everyday life is going to be a big discussion point as time goes on and the infection rate doesn't fall off more.

Met up with a friend at Tom Wahls and he had his nose out his mask and got a stern talking to by some 18-20 yo girl working there. He wasn’t even trying to make a statement lol. I suspect she was embolden by the 100% mask adherence of everyone inside. Which was packed to capacity. I think they think they can do that because there is more demand than supply. Some businesses seem to be absolutely overrun with business and customers. Lowe’s and HD same way. Both required masks but I saw a little less zealousness with defending the policy. I am ready to spend in places that are willing to follow given CDC guidance as it is pretty clear.
-
You are darn right they're going to have consequences lol. CDC knows what they're doing with this. They're going to get herd immunity - whether vaccine or antibody from prior infection, before the vaccine efficacy wears off. Nobody will say it, because tisk tisk, but....herd immunity is happening. Edit to add - the vulnerable are always at risk....that's the definition lol. Dumb.
-
Beyond the state/local BS, I think the companies will hold firm until one or two break, and the dam crumbles. If Lowes says no mask, they get my money this weekend. Simple as that. HD ain't bending yet.
-
I hope so - I'm not the world biggest activist shopper...I try but I'm unable to be 100%. That said, I'm going to be spending money in the places that unwind first or give the best experience/justifications for policy. HD said they are requiring masks still and I need to go drop some $$$ there this weekend. I'm hoping Lowe's offers some updated policies. I'd rather not go to HD now.

Never count your chicks until the eggs hatch. You hatched a few days earlier now. All good, enjoy the truck. New vehicles are fun!

It may be second most expensive, but sure ain't #1.

I'd rather get a root canal than R&I a dash.

Sounds like a sales tactic, lol.

Entertaining a semi ban's impact on hunting is a great leftist tactic. Trying to align gun rights to hunting? You don't need 10 rounds to hunt.... Yeah, OK. GFY. (saying in general)

Chernin has a stake in Fox news because he obtained stock options as an executive....he was given it due to his employment. So, let's be real here, it appears to be an MO for him. BHA? Have you ever looked into that group? Sketchy. Real Sketchy. Rinella is dangerous, you're right. He makes money for anti-2A. That's why I can't support him despite the wool you try justify he pulls over people's eyes.
-
I have to admit the willingness to bootleg a vaccine card is just as dumb as those who think it should be required for access/life events. On the other hand, I get the penchant for it. This is a calculated move by data. It will advance us getting to herd immunity faster and is the better of two bad decisions. They realize herd immunity won't happen via straight vaccine channel due to willingness to vaccinate in the remainder of populous being low. Instead they drive herd immunity by having a "controlled burn" of anti-body build up from those who end up getting it. They need to do this before efficacy dies off in vaccine holders. It's essentially the least worst of two decisions to make. Nobody will talk about it because God help us that people may die, but it's a lesser of two evils IMO. Life is more often about making the best of two bad decisions just as much as it is making the right decision.
-
Curious question - Let's replace Chernin with Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer. Let's say Pelosi or Chuck own the enterprise that Rinella sold out to but neither are necessarily in Congress, still, in this hypothetical. Would you hold a different view? They're both anti-2A, just maybe more known because of being a politician. Would you be comfortable with that arrangement? It's no different, their views are largely the same as Chernin, but we're much more comfortable with them knowledge wise.
-
Follow the money - it seems to be a trend here that you cannot wrap your hands around. Ammo and firearms sales create excise taxes that drive the bulk of the North American Hunting/Conservation model. Hunting and 2A is a bi-directional relationship - hunters reinforce 2A and 2A in turn supports the conservation of land, resources, game, and hunting itself. Mutual support. The gusto for Rinella you have appears to be on what he says vs what he does. And what he did is sold out to an Anti-2A owner who uses his money to pursue bans on firearms and trophy hunting. If Rinella makes a dollar via MeatEater, he gets a small minority cut of that dollar (due to the buyout/arrangement which is not public, but common info says he no longer has controlling interest in MeatEater). The majority of that dollar's net profit goes into Chernin's pocket. Chernin in turn takes that same coin, and puts it toward the limitation of YOUR gun rights as defined by the 2A. Rinella knew this, and made a conscientious choice to do so. He could have went to several other large investment groups and picked nearly any one of them, plenty of pro-2A groups, too. My personal belief is that he did this because he was comfortable as it aligned with his moral compass despite not speaking about it. He didn't do it because Chernin was the only game in town, let's be real. He likely had a choice of investors. But go ahead and keep defending on principle because Rinella doesn't say something. Ignore the fact he was willing to get into bed with the enemy and contribute toward the erosion of our 2A. His success is now intrinsically linked to anti-2A....every dollar he makes has a portion that now goes to push against 2-A. C'mon man.

It'll be interesting to see how fast the companies unwind this.
