  1. What about those bows that allow 90% let-off? What is or isn't in play is slippery slope. No right and universally accepted answer IMO.
  2. The ban is due to impact on game at waterholes, hunter issues, and then profit/money. The outfitter industry 100% lobbied for it because a ban makes them more money. Outfitter lobbying is a legit thing out west.
  3. If I'm going aftermarket, Linex is probably the best option. I'd honestly not have them do it, and then contract it out yourself. You'll be getting middle man markup. I had a really bad experience with my 4Runner and outsourced undercoating - so much so, that they ended up REPLACING the vehicle. Just be wise as contracted deals like this can be sloppy.
  4. They make a good scope no doubt. I use DOA/BDC reticles on my shottys for the most part and they work well. That said, people can get very into accuracy. No doubt. I like simple and easy to use for hunting situations.
  5. No, not really. It's down in a bottom so the wind and sun combo isn't triggering it as much as it would normally.
  6. Walgreens has done a good job consistently. Not sure if you've tried that drug store. Otherwise, I'd look up local photo experts as noted - they'll use higher end paper, too. But you'll pay a premium for it.
  7. Nailed it on the "doesn't have to be high" part 100%. Biden chose to inflict pain and suffering.
  8. Ohio cam doing well despite the vegetation.
  9. Progress. Outlets put in. Project grew a bit. Ended up insulating the walls and laying over some pegboard on garage side. Plus two new front lights and security cams. Starting to come together.
  10. You are using the pandemic excuse when it fits your narrative. Raising prices on citizens during a pandemic fallout? C'mon man.
  11. Ok to use pandemic as an excuse, up until it's not. Flip flopping like a fish out of water.
  12. Even out what playing field, exactly? Lithium and other hard metals? Doing so now, during a "pandemic" as you noted? Seems sus. And I'm quoting your use of pandemic earlier - you say that the pandemic has been wreaking havoc on markets, but nah, let's just go the other way on this one? Weird man. Weird.
  13. I try to stay out of politics as noted, but I have seen alot of articles saying Biden isn't responsible for the gas prices. And that shuttering the Keystone XL project didn't impact prices. I don't know where they find the economic experts that make the statements that they do. But, the cost of a gallon of gas is not comprised of what it cost to make it, along with taxes, logistics, profit, etc. The price now is actually reflective of the expected cost to produce that gallon IN THE FUTURE. It's not different than the stock prices, which are representation of future earnings. Him shuttering that pipeline project added back in the reduced future projected costs that were in today's price elasticity. So...he IS responsible for that decision he made. He also knew that. He also knew he could bury the news during a pandemic and place increasing price blame on the pandemic. So, enjoy the gas prices for the next few years. Ain't gonna be cheap.
  14. I'm not going to get into the political components, but he did shut down a pipeline project. Gas prices wouldn't be as high - that's a fact. Plus the hack that took place under his watch that shut down Colonial. That also drove prices higher. Neither had to do with a global pandemic. He had an option not to kick the dog when it was down, yet he still shuttered the pipeline and prices rose instantly which trickle into the economy. I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise, which is rare in discussions like this. Usually one can see another side of the coin, but this is pretty black and white.
  15. Cameras are one tool in the bag. Not the only tool. But, you are right, with reduced time, they become more impactful. Honestly if I couldn't run cams, my interest in hunting would probably fall dramatically because I simply don't have the time I used to, to hunt the way I want to. Trail cams help cover that gap. I get out glassing for short periods of time during late summer, but that too, is only one tool in the bag.
  16. Outfitters....that part is no different than what certain other states or countries do. IE Montana or trying to hunt within certain areas of Canada, etc. This law banning cams makes outfitters more money. So outfitters lobbied hard for it. It's a full fledged industry out west.
  17. Short of NH with it's weird laws, states banning cams is mostly a western thing predicated by impact on wildlife, fighting, and profiteering. Water holes that are the primary source for game for 10 miles end up having 50 cameras on them constantly being checked or disrupting game ability to get water. There could have been a better middle ground solution, but outfitters and idiocy pushed for this. Plus people are stupid sometimes. It's not a likely issue here in the short term. They're putting in a season in many WMUs to kill deer in September. That's tripping over dollars to pick up pennies.
  18. My bow plans are already being challenged by work, ha. Had plans to be in Missouri for a week mid-September. Work during the day remote and hunt the PMs for an early season chance. We're returning to office early September so the chances of me now being able to work remote for the week as a leader will be difficult and not received well. We'll see, but low odds that is going to happen. Looks like first action will be late September for Ohio archery season. Don't have a ton of prospects here in NY. Running into challenges on each property that are diminishing success odds for shooter bucks. My time hunting NY might be more casual/recreational than I like but it is what it is. Plus we really only have one buck targeted from last year that we know made it through the season. One target is the lowest we've had in a few years. Having multiple target bucks survive the past season has been the biggest indicator of success for us in the following year, bar none. A bit nervous on that front. Not to mention work has plans for me in November and that is just hurting my soul right now. Trying to finagle my way out of it without screwing up my career. Ohio holds some promise despite low deer density.
  19. Nobody happy is a crappy place to live.
  20. Great deer. Really cool character and fun encounter. It's amazing how much work they are to get out of the woods once that adrenaline of the shot/recovery shock settles in. They're not light when they get that old! Night IR images can be misleading in terms of size. It's just a nature of their operation. Either way that is a nice deer. Congrats.
  21. I am so lucky to have a friend who raises the occasional fullblood wagyu and several american wagyu. Admittedly it is spoiling me. Hope the planting season goes well!
  22. You buying something bigger/better? Or downsizing? GL w.Sale.
  23. One interesting thing came up today in discussions. Have a few peers with older kids still on their insurance plans - up to 26 it is. Anyhow, a few of the "kids" haven't gotten the shots. One that didn't want it, got CV-19 - ended up costing the kid a few thousand dollars for treatment due some of the complications she was experiencing. Of course, said kid doesn't have the cash reserves to draw down on the balance of the bill leftover from insurance. Thankfully our oldest is off ours now. But that peer is pretty pissed off...footing a "loan" to the kid, and the kid ate up some of the plan allowances and still half a year to go in the plan year. It's a good reminder that what you do or don't do can impact other people - intentioned or not.
  24. if they're already enrolled in programs to offset taxes...that's offsetting.
