  1. My self I dont know what to say. This is hpw it should be, if their is a deer problem. Not nucience permits. But it does such for the land owners next door.
  2. It happens. It is just a free meal for a bear, As a matter of fact, it has happened to someone here.
  3. "Mr. Rosha, are you on your way to or from a gun range...?" Better question who is afraid of Mr. Rosha
  4. A buddy of mine and I hunted woodchucks one summer with bows. Alot of shooting a few kills. We shot at anything inside of 100 yards. Man It was fun. Better than with a rifle. When we used to do it with rifles we could wipe out the farm by may. With the bows we had shooting all summer
  5. Yes I like people in the area to know as well. But at times I wonder how do I let then know. Sometimes I don't dare move. Some people are very jumpy. And I I wave, will they just see the movement and get excited. What to do?
  6. 100% agree. If you feel you have a deer problem let people hunt it. Rather than permits the state should give each farmer a legal liability waver to have people sign to hunt their land. And if you do not allow people to hunt. The problem can't be that bad can it.
  7. The SST are by far the best thing going now. I saw a guns and ammo TV were dick metcalf was testing these. The penitration and terminal shock was comparable to a 7mm-08. with a much bigger whole.
  8. Thinking about heading south and making 1 last weekend myself. Good luck to all.
  9. 6G and 6c I used to see 20 deer per sit. The farmers got all their permits and that iss all you can hear during the summer at around 9:00 is shooting. Now I saw 4 deer all season long in 6g. And the other spot I hunt in 6c a farmer shoots them off his feed pile with a 22 mag in the guts so they run out of his field. And he has said that the deer are not eating causinghis damge. He just doesn't like them poking holes inthe covers.
  10. Yes realy anything .025 cal and up will work fine. But, it is like most have said. You can shoot the biggest gun out there, and if you miss they are still alive. Get what you feel confortable with.
  11. We tak to all the local farmers. When they have a cow pass, we use that. Works well
  12. Well give the guy credit. I am sure we have all missed a 150-200 lb deer. 18lb he is a hell of a shot!!!!LOL
  13. OMG Accidents Happen? WTF if this hunting party is OK with this kind of stuff. They should not be wasting good air.
  14. When we had our camp in the middle of the aderoundacks. Sometimes were were 10 miles from camp on foot. At times this would be the only way. Once you get used to it you can skin and quater a deer in 30 minutes. As for the remains. We have cameback 2 days later to nothing!
  15. This right here is what has devistated the NY deer heard. :'( :'( :'(
  16. When I went to college there was a kid who was named Frank Yew. He thought it was great. On his papers he would write F. Yew
  17. Some people are ballsy though. In the past I had a treestand stollen. Went back weeks later and my stand was back with a guy in it. You might find your blind reposisioned near by,
  18. Well if we see a bunch of people walking around with that on their face next year. We will know that the DEC was wrong again. But, they probably wont admit it, if they are!!!
  19. Got ride of my riding sled. I guess I got burned out. Used to ride 3000+ miles per winter. All I have now is my old indy sport with a rack on the back for ice fishing.
  20. I haven't found it in years. But At one point I found a posting by DEC that lists the amount of "Attractant" that you can carry. It was under 10 oz. if I remember correct.
  21. I agree know your target!!! How many of us have lost a deer that was not hit just right? Now how can that hunter tell us that he was shooting at the kill zone?
  22. A suggestion. In colerado major enviromental fines are up to $10,000. Why not make these people pay. As wee are in need of DEC to police this. Just 5 major infractions would pay for ECO's salary. Also in my area the state does nothing. We had 2 farm boys shooting 50-100 deer a summer and selling them. They got busted, but were reliesed because they ratted out their buyer. So they found a new buyer.
  23. If you are looking for 1 gun and caliber for both. I would suggest a 308. Great accuracy a huge bullet selection and fairly flat shooting. Will do both.
